Explain calmly that you attempted payment within the window and their system was at fault. Ask for the fee to be waived as a matter of simple fairness. A just balance and a fair measure are things God values; He takes no pleasure in exactions that crush people.
Yet, even as you seek that fair outcome, consider what you are truly longing for in your spirit. When we have been wronged, we instinctively want justice. We want to get what we are owed. But be careful about demanding pure justice from the throne of God, because justice means getting exactly what we deserve. Instead, bring this to the Father as a plea for mercy. Mercy is not receiving the penalty you technically incurred. Ask Him to move the heart of the agent on the other end of the line. Ask Him to make a way where the automated rules say there is no way. You have a High Priest who understands the feeling of being hemmed in by unfair systems, and He invites you to come with confidence to find grace to help in time of need.
