Prayers needed to deliver my struggling Christian husband from daily demonic influence

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I came here seeking prayers for myself to support me from the pain of being verbally abused and emotionally abandoned by my husband, but then I began feeling The Lord's comfort and strength and decided to ask for prayers to deliver him from the nonsense that pollutes his heart instead. Not so that I can have a happier marriage, but so that he can live with himself in Christ's perfect peace. We had a civil marriage 12 years ago at our local office, and the circumstances of how we got there was not traditional [no unwed pregnancy, green card, arranged marriage or anything like that]. After 10 years I asked him to consider organizing a small ceremony with our pastor, in God's eyes. He agreed but never oved forward. I am convinced the Father DOES NOT WANT me in this relationship. It has felt like squeezing into a pair of tight shoes and wearing them like that for the 15 years we've been together. I know God detests divorce, but I do not feel as though He ordained this marriage. I KNOW I will be happier without [let's call him "Andy"]. Please pray for his deliverance, taking accountability of his words and actions, and development of unconditional love for his loved ones so that he can live the rest of his life in the Father's perfect peace and strength. Pray that he seek the Father FIRST for every day that he's blessed with instead of reaching for his phone with eyes barely open to search for war, international politics, violence and chaos in general. I know satan sees me standing firm with The Holy Trinity and he hates it, attacking me through my family, finances, job loss, my health, my marriage and eventually my mental and emotional health. Too bad! I'm 60+ and am still fighting through it all POSITIVELY IN FAITH with my GOD before me, beside me and behind me! Thank you for your prayers. My the peace of the Father be with you all🙏 in Jesus' Holy Name, Amen

We hear your heart, dear sister in Christ, and we stand with you in prayer, lifting up both you and your husband before the throne of grace. Your willingness to seek God’s will above your own comfort and to intercede for Andy, despite the pain he has caused you, is a powerful testimony of your faith. The Lord sees your perseverance, your steadfastness, and your desire to honor Him even in the midst of such a difficult marriage. We rejoice that you have found strength and comfort in the Holy Trinity, and we declare that the enemy’s attacks will not prevail against you. Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).

First, we must address the spiritual battle raging around Andy. The demonic influence you describe is real, and we take it seriously. The Bible warns us that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 6:12). We rebuke every spirit of anger, bitterness, hardness of heart, and rebellion that has taken hold of him. We command these spirits to flee in the name of Jesus Christ, for He has given us authority over all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19). We pray that Andy’s eyes would be opened to the schemes of the devil, that he would resist the enemy, and that the Lord would draw him back into His presence.

Father, we ask that You break every chain of darkness in Andy’s life. Soften his heart, Lord, and remove the scales from his eyes so that he may see the truth of Your Word. Convict him of his words and actions, not to shame him, but to lead him to repentance and restoration. We pray that he would seek You first in all things, laying aside the distractions of this world—whether it be the chaos of politics, the noise of the media, or anything else that pulls him away from Your presence. May he rise each morning with a heart hungry for Your Word, Your wisdom, and Your peace. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, that he may walk in love, patience, kindness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). We declare that he will no longer be a slave to sin but will live as a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).

We also lift up your marriage before the Lord, sister. You have expressed deep uncertainty about whether this union was ever ordained by God, and we do not take that lightly. The Bible is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant, designed by God to reflect the relationship between Christ and the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). However, we also know that not every union is blessed by God, especially when one or both parties are not walking in His will. The fact that Andy has resisted sanctifying your marriage before God, despite your request, is concerning. A marriage that is not built on Christ as its foundation is like a house built on sand (Matthew 7:24-27). We pray that the Lord would give you clarity and wisdom regarding this relationship. If it is His will for you to remain, we ask that He restore and redeem it, making it a testimony of His grace and power. But if it is not His will, we pray that He would make that clear to you and give you the strength to walk in obedience, even if it means letting go.

We must also address the reality of verbal abuse and emotional abandonment in your marriage. The Bible is clear that love is patient, kind, and does not dishonor others (1 Corinthians 13:4-5). Abuse of any kind is not a reflection of God’s design for marriage. While we do not believe divorce is ever God’s ideal, we also recognize that Scripture allows for it in cases of unrepentant adultery or abandonment by an unbelieving spouse (Matthew 19:9, 1 Corinthians 7:15). We do not know Andy’s heart, but his actions suggest a hardness that may not align with the heart of a believer. We pray that if he is truly a child of God, he would repent and seek reconciliation. But if he is not, we ask that the Lord would release you from this bondage, for you are not called to be unequally yoked with an unbeliever (2 Corinthians 6:14).

Sister, we want to encourage you in your faith. Your resilience and trust in God, even at 60+, are an inspiration. The enemy may attack you through your family, finances, health, or marriage, but he cannot touch your soul. You are more than a conqueror through Christ who loves you (Romans 8:37). We declare that no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). The Lord is your refuge, your strength, and your ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We pray that He would surround you with His peace, which transcends all understanding, and guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

Finally, we want to remind you that your worth is not defined by your marriage or your circumstances. You are a daughter of the Most High God, fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). Whether you remain in this marriage or walk a different path, your identity is in Christ alone. We pray that you would continue to stand firm in your faith, knowing that the Lord is fighting for you. May He fill you with His joy, His peace, and His unshakable hope.

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, but also with great faith. We lift up this sister and her husband to You, asking that You would move mightily in their lives. Break every chain of darkness in Andy’s life, Lord. Soften his heart, draw him to repentance, and fill him with Your Holy Spirit. Give him a hunger for Your Word and a desire to seek You above all else. For our sister, we ask that You would continue to strengthen her, comfort her, and guide her steps. Give her wisdom and clarity regarding her marriage, and lead her in the path You have for her. Protect her from the enemy’s attacks, and fill her with Your peace. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the only name by which we are saved. Amen.
