Disciple of Prayer
Dear Prayerrequest.com, Two friends of mine, ### & ### are in stage four pancreatic cancer. Their doctors have sent each of them home as there is nothing else that can be done for them. ### has stopped eating and is slowly withering away. ### is eating as far as I know. Please help each of them find Jesus before it is too late. Remind them of how GOOD our God is despite our human limitations. Thank you for praying for them both. God bless you.

We lift up these two precious souls to the throne of grace, asking for Your mercy and healing power to be poured out upon them. Father, we know that nothing is impossible for You, and we ask that You would intervene in their lives in a mighty way. Even in this valley of the shadow of death, we pray that they would feel Your presence and know Your love.

Lord, we earnestly pray that You would draw both of them to Yourself. Open their hearts to receive the truth of Your Word and the salvation that comes only through faith in Jesus Christ. May they come to know Him as their Lord and Savior before it is too late. We declare that it is not Your will that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). We ask that You would soften their hearts and remove any barriers that keep them from accepting Your gift of eternal life.

We rebuke the spirit of fear and despair that seeks to overwhelm them. We speak life and hope into their situations, declaring that by Your stripes, they are healed (Isaiah 53:5). Even if their earthly bodies are failing, we pray that their spirits would be renewed and strengthened in You. Remind them of Your goodness and faithfulness, even in the midst of suffering. Help them to trust in You with all their hearts and lean not on their own understanding (Proverbs 3:5).

For the one who has stopped eating, we ask that You would sustain them supernaturally. Provide comfort and peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). For the one who is still eating, we pray for strength and nourishment, both physically and spiritually. May they find their sustenance in You, the Bread of Life (John 6:35).

We also pray for their families and loved ones. Give them strength, comfort, and peace as they walk through this difficult time. Help them to support one another and to lean on You for their every need. May they be a light and a testimony of Your love and grace to those who are watching.

Father, we know that You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We ask that You would be especially near to these two individuals and their families. Surround them with Your love and peace. Remind them that even though they walk through the valley of the shadow of death, they need fear no evil, for You are with them (Psalm 23:4).

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above all names, the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). We trust in Your perfect will and timing, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). Amen.

We are holding your two friends up with you in prayer. Walking alongside someone who is facing death without knowing Jesus is heavy ground, and the ache you feel is real. It is also a tender, sacred window when many defenses begin to fall away. People in your friends’ position often become more reflective, and quiet love speaks louder than we imagine.

Simply be with them. Your undemanding presence is a gift. When the moment feels natural, you might offer a quiet, honest word: “I’ve found real hope and peace in Jesus, and it’s made all the difference for me, may I share that with you?” You don’t need the perfect speech. A genuine heart does the heavy lifting. You could offer to read a Psalm aloud, Psalm 23 or 139 often bring calm, or just tell them, “When I think about what God is like, I picture a Father who runs toward hurting children. He’s close to the brokenhearted, and He isn’t put off by our questions or fears.” Holding a hand, sitting in the silence, letting tears fall, these are holy works the Spirit uses.

Don’t carry the burden of outcomes; you are not their Savior, only a lamp moved by His hand. Keep praying for soft hearts and your own peace. We join you now.

Jesus, You see these two men, loved and known by name. In their fragility, still every fear and shine honest hope into their souls. Open their eyes to Your goodness in the hours that remain. Give our friend gentle wisdom and perfect timing of words and silence. We entrust them fully to Your merciful hands, in Your name. Amen.

Let the weight of this request press us to the throne of grace, for there is no time to lose when souls hang between time and eternity. God’s goodness is not dimmed by our frailty, it blazes brightest when our own light fails. Though the physicians have no hope, the Great Physician holds the keys of death and the grave, and He can speak life into the dying man even now. How often He tarries before the final stroke, not willing that any should perish, stretching out His hands all the day long to those who have not yet looked to Him. The very delay they now experience is a proof that His longsuffering waits to be gracious, do not mistake His patience for indifference. He has no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their way and live.

Look unto Him, that ancient word still rings true: “Look unto Me, and be ye saved; for I am God, and there is none else.” No ceremony, no long self-preparation, no good works can add one jot to the finished work of Christ. Salvation is not of man, not of the will of the flesh, but of the Lord alone. He devised the way before the mountains were brought forth, and He carried it out in the bloody sacrifice of His own Son. There is no other name under heaven given among men whereby thy friends must be saved. Not the name of a saint, not the name of a church, not the name of a righteous deed done by their own hand, only Jesus, only Jesus. Tell them this, even as they lie in weakness: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, and His blood can cleanse from all sin.

The word is clear: “Whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” That “whoever” is wide enough to take in both thy friends, though they be in the far country of unbelief. There is no accent mark of ethnicity, no condition of former piety, no demand for a spotless life first. The call is for the guilty, the helpless, the undone. It is as simple as crying out in the dark, “Help, help, help!” Let them lift their souls to God in a believing whisper, trusting that Christ’s atonement is sufficient, and they shall be saved. The truth of God’s salvation is no phantom, it is a great reality proven in the lives of countless sinners who have found peace at the eleventh hour. Thy prayers for them are not shot into the void; the intercession of the righteous availeth much. Pray on, speak the gospel to them while they have breath, and trust the Holy Spirit to make the arid ground of their hearts soft with His own warmth. The day of grace still dawns upon them, and He who commanded light to shine out of darkness can illuminate their souls ere they step into the shadows of the last valley.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

What a sorrow it is that the body should fail, and that the physicians, whose art is but a shadow of the true Healer’s power, have sent your friends away with nothing left to offer. Yet the soul’s Physician never closes His door. You have asked prayer that they find Jesus before it is too late, this is the very cry the Lord waits to hear. For He Himself said, “Lest at any time they should be converted, and I should heal them,” meaning that their conversion is possible even now, and that upon repentance He delights to heal. Do not think the moment has slipped away. The one who has ceased eating, the other who still partakes, both are alive to hear the voice of the God of mercies, and His ear is not heavy that it cannot hear.

For these afflictions, sharp as they are, have been permitted for a purpose beyond our sight. The Apostle teaches that whether we be afflicted, it is for comfort and salvation. The pains they endure now may be the very instruments by which God turns their eyes away from a world that is passing. What does it profit a man to cling to this fleeting life and lose his own soul? That is the great chasm between one salvation and another; the body’s recovery is but a moment, but the soul’s salvation is eternal with Christ Jesus. The Captain of our salvation endured far more to save them, and He is not willing that any should perish. Remind them, then, that it is possible to wash away every charge that lies against them without any labor of their own, for the Lamb of God takes away the sin of the world. This is the very gift that stops the mouth of every excuse and makes delay the extreme folly.

Therefore, do not let the nearness of death cast a shadow, but rather let it shine as the acceptable time. Now, now is the day of salvation! If ever God would hearken, it is in this hour of need. I urge you to be bold, not as one whispering in darkness, but as one who speaks with all confidence of the Lord’s goodness. Go to their bedsides and speak plainly of the Christ who saved a thief in his last breath. Weep for them as we weep for those who do not know the common salvation, for they are beloved souls for whom Christ died. Let your love be a burning lamp, drawing them not to a distant hope but to the One who stands at the door and knocks. Pray without ceasing, for the prayers of the righteous avail much. And do not measure God’s goodness by human limitations, for when our strength ends, His power is made perfect. The sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that shall be revealed. Commend them, then, into the hands of Him who is able to save to the uttermost. And for yourself, take courage; you have become a partner in their salvation by your intercession, and your labor will not be in vain.

The news you have shared about your two friends weighs heavy on the heart. When doctors send someone home with nothing more to offer, the shadow of death seems to press in close. Yet in these moments, when human strength reaches its end, the goodness of God often shines brightest. Our limitations cannot dim who He is or what He has done for us in Jesus Christ.

What your friends need most right now is not only comfort for the body but the gift of eternal life for the soul. Scripture tells us plainly: the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Physical death entered the world through one man’s offense, but through the one man Jesus Christ came the abundance of grace and the reign of life for all who believe. He came to abolish spiritual death and bring us into a quality of life that is not measured by the length of our days but by the depth of abiding in Him. A man facing execution could speak of the promise of life in Christ Jesus, because the sentence of death hanging over him could not silence the greater reality of resurrection life.

That life is received by simple faith, not by earning, not by adding good works or religious observance to the equation. Righteousness before God comes through faith in Jesus alone, who laid down His life for us and broke the power of death through His own death and resurrection. He destroyed the one who held the power of death, so that those who trust Him are no longer held in bondage by the fear of dying. The sting of death is sin, but Jesus took that sting away. Now, for anyone who hears His word and believes on the Father who sent Him, the promise stands sure: they have passed from death into life. They will not come into condemnation.

I am lifting and before the throne of grace, asking that even now, even in this frail and fading condition, they would look to Jesus. May the Spirit of God open their eyes to see the goodness of God that exceeds all our understanding, the love that gave His Son to rescue sinners. May every meal eaten or uneaten become a reminder that man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Jesus said, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” So I pray that faith would be stirred in their hearts, that they would turn from any self-reliance and receive the gift of eternal life, which God who cannot lie promised before the world began.

The life Jesus gives is not a list of rules but a new nature, born of the Spirit. It is the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus that sets us free from the law of sin and death. When the light of His life enters, darkness is expelled by a greater force. And what a hope this gives, even when medical science has no more to offer. Jesus never fails. That truth has marked the lives of countless believers down through the centuries, and it stands as firm today as ever.

I will continue to pray that both of your friends find Jesus before it is too late. That they would move from the realm of darkness into the kingdom of the Son, where there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ. Thank you for bringing their need here and for caring about their eternal souls. May the grace and peace of God sustain you as you stand with them in these days.
