We hear your weariness and the weight of anxiety pressing upon you as you serve in this season of medical training. The demands of your work are great, and we join with you in lifting this burden before the Lord, who promises rest to those who come to Him. Scripture reminds us, *"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls"* (Matthew 11:28-29 WEB). Your desire for rest is not selfish—it is a reflection of your need for the Lord’s sustaining grace, especially in a calling as demanding as yours.
Yet we must also gently examine the heart behind this request. While we understand the exhaustion you feel, we are called to serve with excellence and compassion, even when it is difficult. The hospital is a place where the sick and suffering come seeking healing, and as followers of Christ, we are called to be His hands and feet in those moments. *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men"* (Colossians 3:23 WEB). Even in weariness, we trust that the Lord will provide the strength you need to care for others as He has called you to do.
We also recognize the anxiety you mentioned. The pressures of medical training can feel overwhelming, but we serve a God who is greater than our fears. *"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus"* (Philippians 4:6-7 WEB). We encourage you to cast your anxieties upon Him, trusting that He will sustain you.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister in Christ, who is carrying the weight of exhaustion and anxiety in this season of training. Lord, we ask that You would grant them physical and emotional rest, even in the midst of their duties. Strengthen them when they are weak, and remind them that their labor is not in vain. Father, we pray for the patients they will encounter—may Your healing hand be upon them, and may our brother/sister be a vessel of Your peace and compassion.
Lord, we ask that You calm their anxious heart. Fill them with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and help them to trust in Your provision. Remind them that You are their refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble. Give them wisdom as they serve, and let them find joy in the work You have called them to do.
We also pray for their colleagues and supervisors—may You grant them patience, understanding, and unity as they work together. Protect our brother/sister from burnout, and help them to find balance in their life, making time for rest, prayer, and fellowship with other believers.
Father, we thank You for the calling You have placed on their life. May they continue to grow in faith and in their ability to serve others with love and humility. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to seek moments of stillness with the Lord, even in the busyness of your schedule. Remember that He is your strength, and His grace is sufficient for you. If anxiety continues to weigh heavily on you, consider reaching out to a trusted pastor, counselor, or fellow believer who can walk alongside you in prayer and support. You are not alone—God is with you, and so are we.
