Prayers for Trip

We join you in bringing this request before the Lord Jesus and we thank you for calling upon His name, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father.

We hear your heart to be ready, to prosper and provide for your girl, and to get the rest you need for this trip. We pray that the Lord will grant you safe travel, clear preparation, and peaceful sleep as you commit your plans to Him. Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more. Psalm 121:8. Commit your works to Yahweh, and your plans shall be established. Proverbs 16:3. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7.

We want to encourage you in how you think about prospering for your girl. We believe God honors relationships when they are pursued with purity and with marriage in view. Scripture teaches that courtship between a man and a woman should be with the goal of a lifelong marriage covenant that honors God, and that both should be believers in Christ. Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? 2 Corinthians 6:14. If she is the one you believe God is leading you toward as a future wife, we encourage you to pursue her in a way that is selfless, pure and Christ centered, leading her closer to the Lord and protecting her holiness. Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18. True prosperity in a relationship comes not just from provision but from walking together in righteousness and preparing for a godly marriage if it is His will.

We also hear your desire for enough sleep and to be ready. Sleep is a gift from God and a part of good stewardship of the body He has given you. It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil, for he gives sleep to his loved ones. Psalm 127:2. We encourage you to plan diligently, to rest well before you travel, and to trust the Lord with what you cannot control.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we lift up our brother to You in the name of Jesus Christ. We ask that You bless this trip and establish his steps. Grant him wisdom to prepare well, discipline to steward his time, and deep, refreshing sleep in the nights before and during his travel. Guard him from anxiety and fill him with Your peace. Keep him safe on the road and bring him home in Your care. We ask that You help him to prosper according to Your will, not for selfish gain but so he may provide, protect and honor You and the young woman You have placed in his life. Lead their relationship in purity and truth, and if it is Your will, guide them toward a Christ centered marriage that glorifies You. Help them to encourage one another in faith and to seek You first above all else. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Thank you for letting us pray with you about this trip. We hear how much you want to show up well for your girl, to be rested and ready and to see God prosper what you put your hand to.

Wanting to be prepared is a good and loving impulse. In these days before you go it can help to give your sleep and your preparations a little structure so worry does not steal your rest at night. One simple step that often helps is to jot down for a few nights when you go to bed, when you wake, and what seems to make rest harder or easier, and to make a short checklist for the trip so you can lay those details down before the Lord in the evening and rest. If sleep continues to be difficult we encourage you to reach out to a trusted doctor or counselor as well as continuing in prayer.

We are praying for safe travel, clear mind and steady strength for you and for your girl.

Father we bring this trip before You in Jesus name. Grant him restful sleep, readiness in heart and mind, and wisdom for each step. Provide for his needs and for his girl, guide his travels, and let his work be done faithfully for Your glory. Give him peace as he trusts You. Amen.

We have heard your request and we join you in bringing it before the throne of grace, asking the Lord to show His mercy and help in your time of need.

We pray for your trip, that the Lord who is your shelter and your Captain would keep you safe. Holy Scripture tells us that he who abides under the shadow of the Almighty shall abide under His wings, and that even the smallest boat must be conveyed safe into the port by Christ Himself. We ask that whether you travel far or near, you may know the security of being in the good ship of Providence, with the Lord ordaining and guiding all your way, and that you may put implicit confidence in His guidance and arrive in safety according to His will.

Concerning sleep, we are reminded that so He giveth His beloved sleep. This is not only the rest of the body, but the sleep of contentment and of security which God gives to His own. We pray that the Lord would grant you such quietness of heart that you may lie down in peace and be refreshed, free from anxious care, and that your rest may recruit your strength to serve Him with a ready mind. May you be kept from that heavy slumber of the soul which sleeps toward the things of God, and may you be wakeful and watchful to do His will, while yet enjoying the needful and blessed rest which He provides for the body.

Concerning your desire to prosper and to be ready, we pray that you may prosper first in the things of the soul through faith in Jesus Christ alone, for there is salvation in no other. True readiness is found not in our own strength, but in abiding in Him and walking in His ways. We ask that the Lord would make you diligent and faithful in every duty He has given you, and that all you do may be done to His glory.

And concerning the young woman you mention, we pray that the Lord would give you wisdom and grace to honor Him in that relationship. Scripture teaches that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that purity and honour are to mark all our affections before marriage. We do not ask God to bless what is outside His holy design, but we do pray that He would lead you to walk in holiness, in self control, and in counsel with godly and wise believers, seeking His will above all. If it be His will to lead you toward marriage, may it be pursued in a way that is upright and Christ honoring, and if otherwise, may He give you contentment and strength to follow Him.

So we commend you to the Lord, asking that He would grant you safe keeping, needful sleep, a prepared heart, and grace to walk worthy of His calling, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
