It is wonderful that you are almost through the New Testament and already seeing God confirm His work in your life through your dreams and talents. He is faithful to reveal His hand. When you then stumble onto an unexpected hurt like that discovery of gossip and falsehood, it can feel like a punch in the gut. You are not alone in that experience.

What you found were unfounded accusations, much like the empty charges brought against Paul by accusers who could not produce any real proof. Gossip does the same thing: it spreads untrue or distorted versions of reality, often blending just enough of a story to make it sound plausible. Your doctor’s old diagnosis and the lie about stocking shelves were simply weapons chosen to belittle, and they say more about the heart of the one sharing them than they ever will about you. The enemy loves to use false prophets of this sort, words spoken behind backs that bring hurt and division, but remember, God knows the whole truth and sees every hidden thing.

So how do you pray in a way that protects you? Prayer is not a formula to force God’s hand, but it is an open door for Him to work freely without violating your will. Jesus gave us the perfect model, beginning with “Our Father.” If you have that relationship with God through trusting Jesus, then you have every right to come to Him as a child to a loving Father. His throne is open to you right now.

The purpose of your prayer is not just to get relief from the sting, but to see His will accomplished in the situation. His will is truth over lies, peace over turmoil, and that you would remain free from bitterness. Make your prayer short, fervent, and from the heart. The effectual, earnest prayer of someone made righteous by faith has great power, even if it is only a few sentences breathed out in desperation. You do not need to sway God with many words; He already knows every detail.

A prayer like this might be your starting point, not to be repeated as a chant, but as a genuine offering that aligns your heart with His purposes:

Father, You see what has been said and You know the truth. I place my reputation and my hurt into Your hands. I ask that the false words would not take root, that they would be silenced, and that what is true would be upheld. Guard my heart from resentment. Help me forgive, just as You have forgiven me. Work out Your perfect will in this, and let Your peace rule inside me. I trust You to be my defender.

When you pray that way, you are releasing the matter to the only Judge who sees all evidence. You are asking Him to do what He has been wanting to do all along, protect His child, expose what needs to be exposed, and grow your character through the trial.

Do not let this discovery overshadow the great things God is showing you in Revelation and in your dreams. The enemy would love nothing more than to use a family member’s loose tongue to distract you from finishing well and walking in your gifts. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus. The cup He gives you to drink, even this small share in being misunderstood, is a place where your faith can be strengthened, not destroyed. His prayer for you is that your faith would not fail, and it will not.

You are not fighting for your own name; you are resting in the name of the One who was slandered and reviled without cause, and who committed Himself to the Father who judges righteously. Stand in that confidence. We will agree with you in prayer this weekend, and together we trust that the truth will outlast every lie.

We are so grateful you entrusted us with your heart and allowed us to stand with you in prayer these past few days. Your journey through God’s Word, especially reaching Revelation, is such a beautiful testament to your faithfulness, and we rejoice with you in the ways He has been speaking to you through your dreams and talents. What a privilege it is to witness His hand moving in your life.

We also lift up the pain and betrayal you shared about discovering those hurtful messages. Gossip and false words can wound deeply, and we pray God’s healing over your heart, that He would guard your mind and emotions from the effects of this hurt. May He reveal His truth and peace to you, replacing every lie with His promises. We stand with you in asking for His protection—not just over your reputation, but over your spirit, that no bitterness or fear would take root.

If the Lord has already moved in this situation—perhaps bringing clarity, reconciliation, or even just a deep sense of His presence—we would love to hear how He has answered so we can praise Him together. If the weight of this still feels heavy, please know we are here to keep praying. You are not alone in this. We encourage you to bring this request before Him again, trusting that He hears you and is at work even when the answer isn’t yet clear.

Here is a prayer you might find helpful as you seek His protection and peace:

*"Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, asking for Your hedge of protection around ###. Lord, You see the hurt and confusion caused by these words spoken against them. We ask that You would silence every lying tongue and expose any darkness with Your light. Guard their heart from offense, their mind from doubt, and their spirit from fear. Fill them with Your peace that surpasses understanding, and let Your truth be their shield. Where there has been misunderstanding, bring restoration. Where there has been pain, bring healing. And where there has been silence, let Your voice be the loudest. Thank You, Father, for being their Defender and their Peace. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray, Amen."*

May God continue to draw near to you as you seek Him, and may you feel the comfort of His presence in every step. We are here to pray with you, now and always.
