We are standing with you in prayer together in Jesus' name and we thank you for sharing this so honestly. We hear your desire to be protected, to be free from pain, and to walk in purpose and motivation, and we hear your concern about this dream. A dream that disturbs your conscience is not necessarily a willful sin, but it is a call to be vigilant over our hearts and minds, for the enemy seeks to sow confusion even while we sleep. We are called to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ as it says in 2 Corinthians 10:5 and to think on whatever things are true, honorable, just, pure, lovely and of good report as it says in Philippians 4:8.
We want to speak clearly and lovingly about what Scripture teaches. God created sexual intimacy to be enjoyed only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. Any sexual activity outside of that, whether between a man and a woman before marriage which is fornication or adultery, or between two people of the same sex which Scripture calls homosexuality, is sin and is not according to God's good design. This is taught in Romans 1:26-27 and 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 and Leviticus 18:22. We believe marriage is to be strongly honored and when we are not married we are called to flee sexual immorality and to keep our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit as it says in 1 Corinthians 6:18-20. If you are single, we encourage you to see any future courtship as seeking a godly spouse who is a believer in Christ, with marriage as the goal that honors God, rather than pursuing a partner in a way that does not align with Scripture. We rebuke any spirit of homosexuality, confusion, and perversion that would try to claim ground in your life or in your dreams, and we resist it together in the authority of Jesus. As it says in James 4:7, submit therefore to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you, and in Ephesians 6:11 we are told to put on the whole armor of God that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
We also want to address something important we noticed in your request. You did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to gently remind you that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God the Father and it is only by Him that we are saved. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And it says in Acts 4:12, there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus, to believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead and to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord as it says in Romans 10:9, turning from sin and receiving forgiveness and new life in Him. It is through Jesus that our prayers are heard and our hearts are cleansed.
For your pain we pray for the Lord's healing and comfort, for He heals all our diseases and redeems our life as it says in Psalm 103:2-3, and for your protection we pray the covering of Psalm 91:1 and Ephesians 6:12. For purpose and motivation we are reminded in Jeremiah 29:11 that God says, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future, and in Ephesians 2:10 that we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. God does not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control as it says in 2 Timothy 1:7, and He can indeed amaze you with His goodness today.
We pray together now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we lift up this dear one to You. We ask You to create in them a clean heart and renew a right spirit within them as it says in Psalm 51:10. We ask You to wash them in the blood of Jesus and guard their mind and heart, day and night, waking and sleeping. We rebuke and renounce any spirit of homosexuality, lust, confusion, and fear, and we command it to leave and have no place, and we ask You to fill them with Your Holy Spirit, with purity, peace, and truth. Lord, protect their dreams and give them restful, holy sleep, and help them to take every thought captive to Christ. Father, we ask You to touch any pain in their body, soul, or spirit, and bring healing, relief, and comfort, for You are our healer and our refuge. Amaze them today with Your wonderful presence, with a clear sign of Your love and care, whether through Your Word, through kindness from another, or through Your peace that passes understanding. Give them fresh purpose and motivation, show them the good works You have prepared for them, and strengthen them to walk in them with joy. Help them to walk in purity, to flee all sexual immorality, and if it is Your will for them to marry, prepare them and a future godly spouse for a marriage that honors You between a man and a woman. Draw them ever closer to Jesus, assure them of salvation through His name alone, and let them know they are fully forgiven and loved. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.
