Prayers for my sister and her husband

Heavenly Father Glory be your name! Thank you for all the many blessings in our lives. I come to you in prayer for my sister and her husband as they face difficulties, I pray that you show both mercy and compassion, please help them in their struggle and may everything work in their favor as they move forward, in Jesus Holly and mighty powerful name I pray amen!

We join you in lifting up your sister and her husband before the throne of grace and we give thanks with you for the many blessings the Lord has poured out. It is beautiful that you are interceding for their marriage, for we know that marriage is a holy covenant ordained by God between a man and a woman, and what God has joined together, let no man separate. Matthew 19:6

We stand in agreement with you asking for the Lord's mercy and compassion to rest upon them in this difficult season. Scripture reminds us that Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 34:18 and that it is because of Yahweh's loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn't fail. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23 We pray that they would feel that nearness and that fresh mercy each day.

We also pray not only that things would work in their favor as they move forward, but that all things would work together according to God's perfect will and for their ultimate good, for we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 Sometimes what is favorable in our eyes is not what refines us, but God in His wisdom uses struggles to strengthen a marriage and to draw both husband and wife closer to Himself and to each other.

We pray together for them now.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your glory and Your goodness. We lift up this sister and her husband to You. You see their struggle, You know every detail of the difficulties they face. We ask You to pour out Your mercy and compassion upon them, to give them wisdom, unity, and peace. Help them to bear with one another in love, with all lowliness and humility, being eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:2-3 Let love cover and sustain them, and let their marriage bring honor to You. We ask that You guide their steps forward, that they would seek You first and trust You with the outcome. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 Grant them that surpassing peace. We ask this in the holy and mighty and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to continue to stand in the gap for them, to encourage them to pray together, to seek the Lord together in His Word, and to lean on the body of Christ for support. We thank you for praying in the name of Jesus, for there is no other name under heaven by which we have access to the Father and by which we are saved. John 14:6 Keep trusting that God hears and will answer according to His perfect love.

We were moved to read your prayer for your sister and her husband. It is a beautiful thing to stand in the gap for family when they are walking through a hard season, and we join you in lifting them up.

Watching people we love struggle can leave us feeling helpless, but bringing them to the Father is never small. He sees what they are facing even when the details are not clear to others, and He cares for them deeply. Your intercession is a real expression of love for them.

If it feels right, a simple text or call this week to let them know you are continuing to pray and to ask how they would most like to be supported can mean a lot. Sometimes just knowing someone is consistently remembering them brings comfort, and it can also help you pray more specifically as they share what is most heavy right now.

Father, we thank You for Your goodness and mercy. We ask You to be near to this sister and her husband in their difficulties, to give them wisdom for each decision, peace in uncertainty and strength for each day. Show them Your compassion and guide them as they move forward according to Your will. Comfort their hearts and draw them closer to You and to each other. We thank You for the love their sibling has for them and ask You to encourage them as they continue to pray. In Jesus' holy and mighty name we pray, amen.

We join with you in bringing your sister and her husband before the throne of grace, and we thank you for the loving care you show for them in prayer.

It is right to seek the mercy and compassion of our God for those we love when difficulties press upon them. We are reminded that when God has distinct and definite purposes of mercy towards His people, He often begins with affliction and brings them low, that He may then lift them up and make His mercy the more sweet to their souls. Whatever their present struggle may be, we pray that it may be overruled for their good and for the glory of Christ.

We ask the Lord that the God of mercy would go before them. As the Psalmist said, the God of my mercy shall prevent me, which is to say, He shall go before me. Before they come to their difficulties, may the Lord have already prepared the way, and even while they are yet speaking, may He hear and answer. His mercy is not sold but freely given, gratis, through the blood of His dear Son. He delights to give and to load His people daily with benefits, not because He must be moved to mercy, but because He is plenteous in mercy and slow to anger, and waits to be gracious to those who trust in Christ.

We pray that both husband and wife, being joined together in the lifelong covenant of marriage as God has ordained, may find strength in that covenant and grace to love and bear with one another as Christ has loved us. May their trial drive them nearer to the Great Messenger of the Covenant, the Lord Jesus, who alone can interpret the Father's love to the sin sick soul and shed abroad in the heart a sweet sense of mercy. May they know that tender mercy which provided a Saviour, which asks nothing of us but what it first gives to us, even faith and repentance and a new heart.

We do not pray simply that everything may happen according to their own desires, but that everything may work for their eternal favor as they move forward in the will of God. Our prayer is that this season would lead them to a deeper trust in the Saviour, to a turning from all that is contrary to His way, and to a hope that is soundly fixed not in circumstance but in the mercy of God through Jesus Christ alone.

May the Lord grant them wisdom, patience, and peace, may He guard their home, and may His tender mercy compass them about on every side.

We commend them to Him who is able to keep them and to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
