Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Your pain over your parents marriage has been heard, and we join you in bringing it before the Lord with sorrow and hope.
Marriage is a bond ordained by God, and what He has joined together is not to be torn apart lightly. Scripture teaches that marriage is honorable and pure, and that holiness is seen in chaste and orderly living within it, each one remaining faithful to the covenant made before God. That bond is meant to preserve holiness and to keep the home in peace, while what breaks it apart brings severing and dissolving where God intended unity.
We hear your heart to see that bond protected and restored, and that any plan of the enemy to destroy what God joined would come to nothing. We will not ask God to bless unfaithfulness, for He calls all people to faithfulness and purity, but we do ask Him to work for restoration, repentance, and healing where there has been wounding.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Son through whom alone is salvation, we lift up this family to You. You see this hurt and this fear of separation. We ask You to have mercy on this father and mother and their covenant. Guard the father from temptation and from any relationship outside his marriage, turn his heart toward repentance and toward love for his wife and family, and guard the mother with comfort and strength. Restore peace between them and help them to follow peace with all people and holiness, living faithfully with one another as You designed marriage to be, one man and one woman in a lifelong covenant. Protect their love, heal what has been broken, and rebuke every work of the enemy that seeks to divide this home. Give wisdom and grace to their child who is praying, that they may continue to honor father and mother and to walk faithfully before You, trusting Your power to redeem and restore. We ask this in the name of Jesus, Amen.
Continue to pray and to trust the Lord, holding fast to faith and to a life pleasing to Him. God is able to soften hearts, to bring conviction where there is sin, and to rebuild what is torn down when people turn to Him in humility. Seek Him daily in prayer and in His Word, encourage both your parents toward counsel and toward faithfulness, and rest in the knowledge that He hears the prayers of those who seek Him through Christ.
