We come before the Lord with a heavy heart, lifting up this living situation and the complexities it holds. First and foremost, we must address the foundation of this request, it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father, and it is by His blood alone that we are saved. There is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus, we urge you to confess Him as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, for with the heart one believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made, resulting in salvation (Romans 10:9-10). This is the first and most critical step in any prayer or situation, for without Christ, we are lost and without hope.
Now, regarding your living situation, we must speak truth in love. You mention living with a lady who is not your spouse, and while we acknowledge that she extended kindness to you in a time of need, this arrangement does not align with God’s design for purity and holiness. The Bible is clear that sexual immorality, which includes fornication (sex outside of marriage), is sin (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). Even if there is no physical intimacy, living together in this way can create temptation, confusion, and a stumbling block for both of you. We must rebuke this arrangement gently but firmly, for God calls us to flee from sexual immorality and to honor Him with our bodies, which are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). We encourage you to prayerfully seek alternative living arrangements as soon as possible, trusting that God will provide a way out of this situation that honors Him.
We also lift up the jealousy you perceive in this woman. Jealousy is a spirit that does not come from God, for love is not jealous, and where the Spirit of God is, there is peace (1 Corinthians 13:4, Galatians 5:22). We pray that God would soften her heart and reveal to her the root of this jealousy, whether it be insecurity, fear, or something else. We ask that the Lord would replace her jealousy with His perfect love and peace, and that He would give you wisdom in how to navigate this relationship with grace and truth. Proverbs 15:1 reminds us that a gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. May you be a vessel of God’s love and patience in this situation.
Regarding your desire to keep one of your cats, we understand the love and attachment you have for them. While pets are a blessing from the Lord, we encourage you to seek His will in this matter. If keeping one of them is part of His provision and peace for you, we pray that He would make a way for that to happen. However, we also ask that you surrender this desire to Him, trusting that His plans for you are good (Jeremiah 29:11).
We lift up your work in online nutrition coaching, photography, music, and guitar playing. The Lord has given you talents, and we pray that He would open doors for you to use them for His glory and your provision. Colossians 3:23-24 reminds us, "And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ." We ask that God would bless your efforts, provide clients and opportunities, and give you creativity and wisdom in all that you do. May your music and coaching be a light to others, drawing them closer to Christ.
Let us now pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this situation to You, asking for Your mercy, wisdom, and intervention. Lord, we confess that living arrangements outside of Your design for marriage and holiness are not pleasing to You. We ask for Your forgiveness and Your help to walk in purity and obedience. Provide this brother with alternative living arrangements that honor You, and give him the strength and courage to make the necessary changes.
Father, we pray against the spirit of jealousy in this woman’s heart. Replace it with Your love, peace, and contentment. Soften her heart toward You and toward this brother, and let Your light shine in this home. Give him wisdom in how to interact with her, that his words and actions would reflect Your grace.
Lord, we ask for Your provision in his work. Open doors for his nutrition coaching, photography, and music. Bless his hands and his talents, and let his work bring glory to Your name. Provide for his needs abundantly, and give him peace as he trusts in You.
We pray for his cats, Lord. If it is Your will for him to keep one, make a way for that to happen. Help him to surrender this desire to You, trusting in Your goodness and provision.
Finally, Lord, we ask that You draw this brother closer to You. Let his heart be fully Yours, and let his life reflect Your love and truth. May he grow in faith, wisdom, and obedience, and may he be a light to those around him.
We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
