Prayers for my family

Thank you for sharing your heart and for letting us pray with you for your family. It is encouraging to hear that even in the midst of trials you are holding fast to faith in the Lord.

You asked that God would bless everyone and save everyone. The Bible shows us that God loves the whole world and desires that all would be saved, and He offers forgiveness and new life to anyone who will turn to Him. At the same time Scripture is clear that salvation comes only through Jesus Christ and His sacrifice. He made peace with God possible through His blood on the cross, and each person must personally open their heart to Him, trust Him, and receive that forgiveness. That is why your prayer for your family to open their hearts to Jesus is so important. God stands ready to bless and to save, but the gift must be received by faith.

You also asked for peace, for protection from evil, and for anger and pride to be put aside. These requests go together. The Bible teaches that there are two kinds of peace we need. First we need peace with God, which only Jesus can give when our sins are forgiven and the war between us and God is ended. God is offering a peace treaty to every heart that will accept it. Then, once we have peace with God, we can know the peace of God guarding our hearts and minds day by day. That peace is not the same as the world gives. The world looks for peace in quiet circumstances, but Jesus said He would leave His own peace with His followers, a peace that can remain even when life is troubled. One promise says God will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are fixed on Him. Another says His peace will guard our hearts when we bring our cares to Him in prayer. In the letters of the New Testament you will often see the order grace and then peace, because we cannot know His steady peace until we first understand His grace.

Real and lasting peace on earth will come fully when Jesus reigns as the Prince of Peace, but even now He brings that peace into the heart of every believer who trusts Him. The wisdom that comes from above is peaceable, and those who sow peace will reap a harvest of righteousness. When we choose to sow peace in our families rather than strife, God works through that.

Anger and pride often keep that peace from taking root. Pride is one of the main places where the enemy gains a foothold, and anger left unchecked can grow into bitterness that harms the whole family. Scripture warns that anger can bring great destruction, and it shows how God can soften even a hard and angry heart. When Jacob feared meeting his brother Esau after many years, God changed Esau's heart so that what could have been a bitter meeting became an embrace with forgiveness and tears. God is able to do that same work in your family today, softening hearts, calming anger, and humbling pride so that love and forgiveness can flow.

We are praying for you and your family in these ways: that each one would personally trust Jesus and know the forgiveness and peace with God that only He gives, that God would guard and guide you and protect you from evil, that He would fill your hearts and home with His peace that goes beyond understanding as your minds stay fixed on Him, and that He would gently remove painful anger and pride and replace them with humility, patience, and love for one another.

Keep keeping your faith strong in the Lord and keep bringing your family before Him in prayer. He hears, He cares, and He is faithful to work in hearts that are turned toward Him.
