Prayers for my family

Asking for prayers for my family. We had terrible flooding in my town on Wednesday and the food bank was closed on for clean up. They were open yesterday but the shelves were almost bare. They don’t open again until next Wednesday now and we are down to almost nothing at my house. Please pray we find a way to make it through until then.

We have heard your request for your family as you face the aftermath of this terrible flooding and we are joining together to lift you up before the Father in Jesus' name.

Our hearts are moved by your need and we know that God sees your struggle and cares deeply for you and your family. He is our refuge in times of trouble and our provider when our own resources run dry. Psalm 46:1 reminds us that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. And Philippians 4:19 promises that My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Jesus himself taught us not to be anxious about what we will eat or drink, for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well, Matthew 6:31-33.

We also noticed that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently share why this is so important to us. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God the Father, and there is no other name by which we can be saved. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 tells us There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. To know God's provision and peace, we first need to know Him through faith in Jesus, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord, Romans 10:9. If you have not yet put your trust in Jesus, we encourage you to call upon His name today, for everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved, Romans 10:13.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear family to Your throne of grace. You know the flooding that has come upon their town, the loss and the hardship, and that the food bank is closed and their shelves at home are almost bare. Lord, You know their need even before they ask. We ask You to provide for them in a miraculous way, to open doors of help and to send daily bread until the food bank opens again and beyond. Give them wisdom to find resources near them, move upon the hearts of neighbors, local churches, and community helpers to share what they have. Calm their anxiety and let them feel Your presence and peace that passes all understanding. Strengthen and comfort all those in their town who are suffering from the flood, and bless those who are working to clean up and to serve. We ask that this trial would draw this family closer to You and that they would experience Your faithful love and provision. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to not wait alone until Wednesday. Please reach out right away to local churches, pastors, and neighbors, and if available in your area call 211 or contact the Red Cross or local emergency relief agencies, as many communities open emergency food and water distribution after flooding. Often churches and shelters will have food pantries that are open daily even when the main food bank is closed. Allow others to be the hands and feet of Jesus to help you in this time of need. We are continuing to pray that God will supply every need and make a way where there seems to be no way, and that you will see His hand of provision day by day.

We were burdened to read what your family is facing this week. Going through flooding in your town is hard enough, and then to find the food bank closed for cleanup and nearly bare when it did open would leave anyone feeling stretched and worried. We hear how much you want to care for your family until Wednesday and how thin supplies are right now.

We are praying for you and will keep praying for steady provision and peace in your home in the days ahead. We are asking God to meet your daily needs and to make a way through neighbors and community help close to you.

Until the food bank reopens, it may help to widen the circle you contact, even today. Many towns set up extra food distributions after flooding through churches, schools, or the city or county emergency office, and often another church pantry nearby may be open on a different day. If you can, consider calling your local city or county helpline or church office to ask where food is available this week, and let a trusted neighbor, pastor, or family friend know exactly what you need. If you ever find yourselves without enough to get through a day, please reach out right away to local help for immediate support.

Father, in Jesus' name we lift this family to You. You see the empty shelves and the worry they carry. Provide what they need day by day, open doors to food and help nearby, and guard their home after the flood. Give them rest and wisdom for each next step. Amen.

Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. Your request has been brought before the Lord and before His people, and we have heard with tender concern of the trial that has fallen upon your household and your town. To see the waters rise and to find the shelves bare is a sore distress, and to be brought down to almost nothing tests both faith and flesh. Be assured that you are not forgotten, neither by the church nor by the God who hears the cry of the needy.

We are reminded that our Lord Jesus Christ knows what it is to be poor. Though He was rich, yet for our sakes He became poor, that we through His poverty might be rich. He knew hunger and thirst and weariness, He had not where to lay His head, and He can be touched with the feeling of your infirmities. He who was once a babe with no room in the inn, and a man who labored with lowly hands at Nazareth, understands the poverty of your condition and looks upon you with compassion.

All life here below needs to be sustained from without by food of some kind or other, and our Heavenly Father knows that we have need of daily bread. While we rightly seek Him for the bread that perishes, we remember that there is also food for the soul which sustains when the body faint would swoon. Christ Himself is food indeed and drink indeed to the soul that trusts Him, and that spiritual nourishment can comfort mourners and strengthen the faint even while the barrel seems empty. The poor lamb may lie in the cold field, but if it belongs to a good shepherd, it shall not die. You are the Lord's, and His eye is upon those who look to Him.

Let us pray for you now.

O Father in Heaven, Thou who openest Thine hand and satisfiest the desire of every living thing, look in mercy upon this family in their want. Thou didst feed Israel in the wilderness and didst multiply the loaves in the hands of Thy Son, and Thou art still the same. Provide for these Thy children day by day until the storehouse is opened again. Move the hearts of neighbors and of Thy people nearby to share what they have, and give to this household wisdom and peace as they wait upon Thy providence. Above all, feed their souls with Thyself, that they may find comfort in Christ who is our life and strength, and may know that man doth not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of Thy mouth. In the name of Jesus Christ our Provider and Redeemer we ask it. Amen.

Take courage and cast your care upon Him, for He careth for you. If there be any among the saints near you, make your need known to them, for the Lord often answers prayer by the hands of His people. Seek also any other place of help the town may afford in these days, a neighboring church or kindly neighbor, while we continue to ask the Lord to keep you and to supply your table. May He who numbers the hairs of your head and sees the sparrow fall give you daily bread and daily grace until this strait is passed, and may this trial draw your hearts nearer to Him who suffered poverty for you that you might be made rich in Him.

Your request has been heard and we are praying for you and your family in this difficult time. To face flooding in your town and then to find the food bank closed and the shelves bare when it did open must be very heavy, especially with little left at home and several days until it opens again.

We are asking God to provide for your daily needs, to give you peace that passes understanding, and to open doors for help in your community before Wednesday. God sees your need and cares for you and your family, and He is faithful to hear those who call on Him.

Let us pray together. Heavenly Father, we thank You that You are our provider and our refuge in times of trouble. We lift up this family to You and ask that You would supply what they need for each day, give them strength and hope, and lead them to people and resources that can help. Comfort them with Your presence and remind them that You will never leave them. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to local churches, neighbors, and community aid groups in your area if you are able, as the Lord often provides through the hands of His people. Many churches keep a small pantry or benevolence fund for exactly these kinds of emergencies between food bank days. If you have a pastor or church family nearby, let them know of your situation right away.
