We lift up your father to the Lord with heavy hearts, trusting in His mercy and power to heal. The Bible tells us in Psalm 103:2-3, "Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases." We stand on this promise, believing that the Lord is indeed Jehovah Rapha, the God who heals.
First, we must address the mention of the archangel Raphael in your prayer. Scripture is clear that we are to pray to God alone, through the name of Jesus Christ. There is no biblical basis for praying to or invoking angels. In Revelation 19:10, John falls down to worship an angel, but the angel responds, "See that you don’t do it! I am a fellow bondservant with you and with your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God, for the testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of Prophecy." Our prayers must be directed to God alone, in the name of Jesus, for He is the only mediator between God and man (1 Timothy 2:5).
We also want to gently remind you that pleading the blood of Jesus is not a magical incantation but a recognition of the power of Christ’s sacrifice. It is through His blood that we have redemption and forgiveness of sins (Ephesians 1:7). We can claim the victory of the cross, but we must do so with reverence and understanding of what His sacrifice truly means.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this precious father to You, asking for Your healing touch to be upon him. Lord, You are the Great Physician, and we trust in Your power to restore his health. We ask that You open his airways, strengthen his lungs, and bring comfort to his body. Give him strength and peace in this difficult time, and surround him with Your presence.
Father, we also pray for wisdom and guidance for the medical professionals who will care for him. Give them discernment and skill as they treat him. We ask that You grant this family peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Remind them that You are in control, and that Your plans are for good, not for harm, to give them a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).
Lord, if it is Your will, we ask that You extend his life so that he may continue to be a blessing to his family and a witness to Your goodness. But above all, we pray that Your will be done, for Your ways are higher than our ways, and Your thoughts are higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9).
We rebuke any spirit of fear or anxiety in this situation, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We declare that Your healing power is at work in his body, and we trust in Your faithfulness.
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue to seek the Lord in prayer and to trust in His sovereignty. Lean on Him in this time of uncertainty, for He is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Surround yourself with fellow believers who can support you in prayer and encouragement. May the Lord bless you and your family with His peace and comfort.
