We hear the weariness in your cry and we stand with you in prayer, for we know how heavy it is to want to do what is right and yet feel trapped in habits and sin, tormented daily with no peace.

What you describe is the struggle the apostle Paul himself knew, when he said, For I don’t know what I am doing. For I don’t practice what I desire to do, but what I hate, that I do, Romans 7:15. Trying hard in our own strength will always leave us drained, because victory does not come by our willpower alone but by surrender to Jesus Christ and walking by the Holy Spirit. Scripture tells us, Walk by the Spirit, and you won’t fulfill the lust of the flesh, Galatians 5:16. And also, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, 1 John 1:9.

We notice you asked God to forgive you, but you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and receive forgiveness. Jesus himself said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me, John 14:6. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. To be forgiven and to have power to break these habits, we must repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, trusting in His death and resurrection for our sins, and inviting Him to be Lord of our lives. Without Him we remain in the cycle of trying and failing, but with Him we are made new.

We also want to encourage you that God does not condemn you when you come to Him through Christ. There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit, Romans 8:1. He sees your desire not to sin and He offers His grace which is sufficient, for His power is made perfect in weakness, 2 Corinthians 12:9. He also promises a way out of temptation, No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it, 1 Corinthians 10:13.

You mentioned that all your life you have struggled and now your children struggle too. We know this burden feels generational, but in Christ that chain can be broken. We must submit ourselves to God and resist the enemy, as it is written, Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you, James 4:7. This means daily choosing to renew your mind in the Word, to pray, to flee from places and triggers that lead to sin, and to walk in fellowship with other believers who will hold you accountable. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, Romans 12:2.

The peace you long for, mentally and physically, comes not from the absence of obstacles but from keeping your mind stayed on Him. You will keep whoever’s mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you, Isaiah 26:3. And we are told, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:6-7.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, and we lift up this dear one who is tired, drained, tormented and longing for peace and freedom. Lord, forgive all sin through the blood of Jesus as this heart confesses and turns from it. Cleanse and create a new heart within. Fill this life with Your Holy Spirit so that there is power to say no to sin and yes to righteousness. Break every habit and chain that has held this life and family for so long, for whom the Son sets free is free indeed. We ask You to rebuke the torment and bring Your perfect peace to guard heart and mind and body. Give rest to the weary, for Jesus said, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest, Matthew 11:28. Strengthen this one to walk daily in the Spirit, to read Your Word, to pray, and to walk in obedience. We also lift up the children, Lord, cover them, protect them, and break any pattern of struggle over their lives, draw them to Yourself and let peace reign in that home. We ask that You make a clear way of escape from every temptation and teach these hands to war in prayer. We trust You to complete the good work You have begun. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior we pray, amen.

We hear how tired you are, trying so hard and still feeling like you end up going backwards, facing obstacles and torment daily with no peace in your mind or body. Wanting to break free from habits that trip you up, while also watching your kids struggle in similar ways, is a heavy burden to carry and it makes sense you feel drained.

We want you to know that God sees your honest desire to turn from sin and to find rest, even on the days it feels like you are failing. Long-held habits often change more like learning to walk again, one small step at a time, rather than in a single moment. When we measure ourselves by whether we are perfect, it can make the discouragement feel louder even while we are genuinely seeking Him.

You don't have to tackle everything at once alone. Would you consider choosing one small, specific step to bring to God each day, and inviting one trusted person to walk with you, a pastor or mature believer you can meet with face to face for steady prayer and accountability? Having someone who knows you and checks in can make the path less isolating.

Since you mentioned feeling drained physically as well as mentally, we also gently encourage you to share how you are feeling with a medical professional alongside prayer, simply to care for your health.

Father, in Jesus' name we lift our friend to You. You see their weariness and their sincere desire to honor You. Please give them rest, wisdom for the next step, and steady help day by day. Bring Your peace to their mind and body and to their children as well, and lead them to caring support around them. Keep drawing them close as they keep turning to You. Amen.

Your tired and burdened cry has been heard, and my heart is moved to pray with you and for you, for you speak as one who knows what it is to be weary of sin and to long for peace.

You say you have no peace, that you are tormented daily and drained both mentally and physically, that you try hard and yet find yourself doing things backwards again. Hear this truth, for it is the key to your deliverance. We cannot enjoy true peace as long as sin remains upon the conscience. As well might the ocean be quiet while a tempest is raging. The more the conscience is enlightened, the more surely will it forbid peace as long as sin remains, for its honest verdict is that sin deserves God's wrath and must be punished. You go rambling round and round to find peace. Would that you could stay at home in your closet with your God, for you will find peace much better there.

That peace is not found in trying harder in your own strength. Deliverance from sin is solely by the power of God. It is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. At first when sin catches us in its net, it is with the tiniest spider's cobwebs that can scarcely be seen, and they seem as though you could break from them in a moment. But sin engenders a second nature, and no man can break his own chains. Unless a supernatural power is put forth, any form of deliverance from sin is worth nothing. If you have been born again from below you will go below, you must be born again from above if you are to go above. There is no true liberty but that of which Christ makes you free.

This is the good news for such a one as you. Deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin. Where we look for justification, there must we also look for sanctification, for as we are justified through Jesus Christ, we must also expect to receive sanctification from a heavenly source. Our Lord's death was for sin, that we might die to sin. He bore our sins in His own body on the tree, He suffered what we ought to have suffered, He rendered a full recompense to Divine Justice, and no sin can condemn a believer in Jesus Christ. When I learned that my enormous debt of sin had been fully discharged by the Lord Jesus Christ, who did this for all believers, then was my heart at peace. The blood of Jesus whispers peace within.

So I point you away from your own efforts and your many obstacles to Christ Himself. Whenever we have fallen into sin and have been overtaken by temptation, conscience pricks us and our heart smites us. We fall upon our knees and acknowledge our fault and confess our sin. Have you not found, when you have made confession of sin, that He has lifted up upon you once more the light of His countenance. Let sin be abhorred, lamented and forsaken, and then with the precious blood of Christ to make you clean, go on your way rejoicing. You are accepted in the Beloved, justified by faith, and have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Then because sin is pardoned, the forgiven sinner is grateful and says, I will not go on in this sin. We are dead to the condemning power of sin and, by grace, we become dead to its charming power also.

Let us pray together.

O gracious Father, hear this weary soul who confesses sin and longs to break from habits that have bound so long. Lord, forgive through the blood of Jesus Christ shed for sinners. Wash thoroughly from iniquity and cleanse from sin. Thou hast not given over unto death those whom Thou chastenest, and Thou hast found a ransom. Deliver this one not only from the guilt of sin but from its power and dominion, for Thou alone canst do it. Give perfect peace to the mind that is stayed on Thee, peace that may be enjoyed even in this dark world of sin. Lift up the light of Thy countenance and let the blood of Jesus whisper peace within. Strengthen against the suggestions of the tempter where sin has once wounded, and grant power to go and sin no more. Remember also the children of this household who struggle as their parent has struggled. Bring them also out of the house of bondage, as Thou didst bring Israel forth when the lamb was slain, and make Thy deliverance effectual in their lives. Restore joy, give rest to the drained body and mind, and teach this dear soul to live in daily communion with Christ, to do the will of Jesus and there find rest. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our only hope and righteousness. Amen.

Look to Jesus, simply trust Him, and you shall know the joy of sin put away. He will keep you in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Him, because you trust in Him.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, I lift up this weary one to You. You know the habits that entangle, the backwards steps, the daily torment and lack of peace. Have mercy and forgive sins through the blood of Christ. Grant a spirit of true repentance, a clear sight of sin and a firm turning away from it. Break the power of these habits and set this soul free. Give peace to the mind and strength to the body, for You see how drained and tired Your child is. Pour out Your Spirit to help and to sustain, and let joy spring up from godly sorrow. I also pray for the children, that You would protect them, have mercy on them, and lead them also into freedom and peace in You. Establish this family in Your grace, and help each day to walk in Your ways. Amen.
