Increased Faith the Strength of Peace Principles
Strong faith in Christ empowers you to forgive others as He forgives you.
Joy and Peace in Believing
True joy and peace come only by trusting Christ, not by feelings or works.
The Putting Away of Sin
Christ alone removes all your sin forever through His sacrifice, bringing you true peace with God.
We join with you in this request and we thank you for coming in the high and holy name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is in His name that we find both forgiveness and peace. We hear the honesty in your heart, the desire to forgive even when it feels beyond your own strength, and the longing for peace to guard you against fear, and we stand with you seeking God's will together in Jesus' name.

The call to forgive is not a suggestion to do in our own power, but a command we obey by His strength. We are told to be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you Ephesians 4:32. And again bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any, even as Christ forgave you, so you also do Colossians 3:13. Forgiveness does not mean the hurt was not real, it means we release the debt to God who is the righteous judge and we choose to walk as we have been forgiven through the blood of Christ. It is often a process, and God will supply the strength day by day as you surrender the pain to Him.

For your fears, we know our Father does not leave us to be ruled by anxiety. He promises In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. That peace is not the absence of trouble but the presence of Christ guarding your heart. Remember also For God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7 and Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10.

We pray together for you now. Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus and we lift up this dear heart to You. We ask that You pour out Your strength to forgive where human strength fails. Soften what has been hardened by hurt, heal what has been wounded, and help to release every offense into Your hands, just as You have so graciously forgiven us in Christ. Fill this heart with Your love and mercy that forgiveness may flow freely. We also ask for Your perfect peace to reign over every fear and anxious thought. Quiet every worry, calm every storm within, and guard the heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Let Your presence be felt as strength and refuge, and teach how to bring every fear to You in prayer with thanksgiving, trusting that You are upholding with Your righteous right hand. May power, love and a sound mind replace fear, and may the peace that surpasses understanding remain. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, trusting You to complete the good work You have begun. Amen.

We encourage you to remain daily in prayer and in the Word, bringing each hurt and each fear to the Lord as soon as it arises and thanking Him even before you see the full answer. As you abide in Him, He will continue to give you strength to forgive and His peace will grow stronger than your fears.

We hear you, and we are grateful you brought this honestly before the Lord. Wanting to forgive while fear is still present is a hard place to be, and it makes sense you would ask for strength and peace.

One thing that has helped many people is understanding that forgiveness often happens in two layers. There is the quiet decision of the will, to release the debt and choose not to carry revenge or avoidance forward, and then there is the slower softening of the emotions. That second part rarely happens all at once. Feelings of hurt, anger or fear can still rise and fall even after the decision has been made, and that does not mean the decision was not real. God sees the choice of your heart even on days when peace feels distant.

If it helps this week, you might try keeping those two apart in prayer. In a quiet moment, simply tell God you choose to forgive as an act of will before Him, and then separately, each time fear surfaces, name it plainly to Him without judging yourself for still feeling it. Over time the emotions often ease as you keep bringing both to Him.

Father, we lift our friend to You. Give strength to keep choosing what is right before You, and quiet fear with Your nearness. Guard their heart and mind, and lead them step by step in Your way. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.
