Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing this request to pray for your family and friends. It is a beautiful thing to bring the people you love before the Lord, because family is His idea from the beginning. He created the family unit to be a place of strength and love, and His Word says that children are a heritage from the Lord and the fruit of the womb is His reward. The blessing that rests on a home that fears the Lord is spoken of as eating the labor of your hands, walking in peace, and in time even seeing your children's children.
The greatest blessing we can pray for any family and any friend is to know the blessing that comes not by the law, for the law can only show us our need, but by grace through faith. God promised Abraham, in blessing I will bless you, and that promise reaches to all who are Abraham's children by faith in Jesus Christ. Through Jesus, the only begotten Son of God, we are born again by the Spirit and adopted into God's own family. That adoption is pure grace. Just as God set His love on Jacob not because of merit but because of His sovereign grace, He has set His love on us.
That love was shown when God so loved the world that He gave His Son to be the payment for our sins, dying for us while we were still sinners. If we have received that love, we are then called to love one another as He has loved us and to forgive as He has forgiven us. No one has seen God, but His love is made visible when His people love each other in this way. When we truly know how completely He loves us, we can trust Him with whatever He allows in our lives and the lives of those we love.
So I am praying for you and for your family and friends in this way. I am asking that each of you would know the new birth and the adoption that comes through faith in Jesus, that you would walk in the fear of the Lord where His blessing rests, that your homes would be marked by love for God that is greater than all other loves and by love for one another that reflects His love, and that the Lord would pour out His gracious blessing upon you, keeping you and drawing you closer to Himself and to each other. May He bless you out of His abundance and give you peace.
