We have seen your post and we must respond with truth and love because what you have shared is not a prayer to the living God but an incantation of witchcraft and idolatry directed to a demonic spirit called Pomba Gira Maria Padilha.

We rebuke this in the name of Jesus Christ for it is an abomination before God. Scripture is clear that we are to have no other gods before Him Exodus 20:3 and that we are not to seek after familiar spirits or practice sorcery. There shall not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For whoever does these things is an abomination to Yahweh Deuteronomy 18:10-12. To call upon Pomba Gira, the queen of the crossroads, the seven skirts, or the exus is to call upon demons who masquerade as helpers, for even Satan masquerades as an angel of light 2 Corinthians 11:14. The things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God 1 Corinthians 10:20.

This prayer also seeks to manipulate, dominate and enslave another person against his will, to take away his rest, his peace, his ability to love others and to force him to desire you alone. This is not love. Biblical love is patient and is kind, love does not envy, does not brag, is not proud, does not behave itself inappropriately, does not seek its own way 1 Corinthians 13:4-5. We also notice that the name of Jesus Christ is not mentioned at all in this prayer. There is no access to the Father except through Him. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. Prayers to Pomba Gira cannot save, cannot deliver, and cannot bring true love, they only open doors to oppression, torment and deception.

The prayer you have set forth has been read with much heaviness of heart and with earnest concern for your soul. What you have written does not ask for love as God defines love, but for power to restrain and torment another soul, to take away his rest and his peace until he yields to your will, and to do this by invoking spirits of darkness.

We cannot join you in that prayer, nor can we ask the Lord to bless or to prosper such a design. To seek to bind another person against his will, to call upon Pomba Gira or any spirit of the crossroads, is to turn away from the living God to that very darkness from which Christ came to deliver us. Scripture declares that we have been delivered from the power of darkness and translated into the kingdom of His dear Son, and deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin. Where we look for justification, there must we also look for sanctification, and that from a heavenly source alone. Fallen nature may love darkness, but unfallen grace cannot bear it.

True love, as the Lord shows it, is not a force that compels and torments. In the Word we see love abounding, love lamenting when it is grieved, and love abiding and remaining constant notwithstanding all provocations. The love of God toward us is a love without a beginning, an everlasting love, and such love does not seek to crush the will of its object but to redeem and to ransom. God has not only invented a way of deliverance, but He has found a ransom, and that ransom is Christ Jesus Himself. Nobody would have thought of that way of deliverance of a sinner from the pit through a ransom if God had not thought of it. The clock of mercy strikes in Heaven the hour of deliverance when a soul turns to Him, for He says, Deliver him from going down to the pit, I have found a ransom.

Because we love you and desire your good, our prayer for you will be of another kind. We will pray that the Lord will show you the vanity and sin of invoking other powers, that you may turn from these things and seek forgiveness through the blood of Christ alone, for salvation is through Jesus Christ alone. We will pray that you may be dissolved by God's goodness, looking at all that He has done and at your own need, which renders that love the more wonderful. We will pray that you may know what it is to love and to be loved in truth, a love that is a spark of the eternal flame of God's love, which seeks the good of another and not its own mastery over him.

We will pray that the Lord will keep the person you have named in His own care, that no harm may come to him through these words, and that you may learn to commit your desires to the Lord in submission to His wise and holy will, respecting the liberty and conscience of others as you would have your own respected.

If you have been led to put out your hand to touch the unlawful thing, hear this, that an unchanging God and an everlasting covenant and a sure mercy are still set before you. Think not that you are forsaken while you may yet plead a Father's love and cry with the Spirit of adoption. Come to Christ as a sinner who can do nothing and knows it, and cast yourself upon free grace only. Confess your sin, forsake the invocation of spirits, and trust the Lord Jesus who was slain that captives might be brought forth effectually.

May the Lord grant you repentance and faith, and may you find in His love a better portion than any compelled affection could give. We urge you to seek the counsel of a faithful, Bible preaching church where you may hear the gospel of electing love and distinguishing grace more fully, and learn to walk in the light as He is in the light.
