We have seen your post and we must respond with truth and love because what you have shared is not a prayer to the living God but an incantation of witchcraft and idolatry directed to a demonic spirit called Pomba Gira Maria Padilha.

We rebuke this in the name of Jesus Christ for it is an abomination before God. Scripture is clear that we are to have no other gods before Him Exodus 20:3 and that we are not to seek after familiar spirits or practice sorcery. There shall not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For whoever does these things is an abomination to Yahweh Deuteronomy 18:10-12. To call upon Pomba Gira, the queen of the crossroads, the seven skirts, or the exus is to call upon demons who masquerade as helpers, for even Satan masquerades as an angel of light 2 Corinthians 11:14. The things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God 1 Corinthians 10:20.

This prayer also seeks to manipulate, dominate and enslave another person against his will, to take away his rest, his peace, his ability to love others and to force him to desire you alone. This is not love. Biblical love is patient and is kind, love does not envy, does not brag, is not proud, does not behave itself inappropriately, does not seek its own way 1 Corinthians 13:4-5. What is described here is control, lust and witchcraft, and the works of the flesh are obvious, which are adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness, idolatry, sorcery Galatians 5:19-20. Those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God Galatians 5:21. To attempt to bind a man to you, to make him blind to other women, to make him unable to eat or sleep unless he is with you, to tie his spirit to yours, is spiritual bondage and God does not honor prayers that seek to override the free will of another person.

We also notice that the name of Jesus Christ is not mentioned at all in this prayer. There is no access to the Father except through Him. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. Prayers to Pomba Gira cannot save, cannot deliver, and cannot bring true love, they only open doors to oppression, torment and deception.

We urge you and anyone who has prayed this prayer or sent it to the four corners of the world to repent, to renounce it completely, to destroy copies of it, and to turn to the Lord Jesus Christ for forgiveness and cleansing. The prayer you have set forth has been read with much heaviness of heart and with earnest concern for your soul. What you have written does not ask for love as God defines love, but for power to restrain and torment another soul, to take away his rest and his peace until he yields to your will, and to do this by invoking spirits of darkness.

We cannot join you in that prayer, nor can we ask the Lord to bless or to prosper such a design. To seek to bind another person against his will, to call upon Pomba Gira or any spirit of the crossroads, is to turn away from the living God to that very darkness from which Christ came to deliver us. Scripture declares that we have been delivered from the power of darkness and translated into the kingdom of His dear Son, and deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin. Where we look for justification, there must we also look for sanctification, and that from a heavenly source alone. Fallen nature may love darkness, but unfallen grace cannot bear it.

True love, as the Lord shows it, is not a force that compels and torments. In the Word we see love abounding, love lamenting when it is grieved, and love abiding and remaining constant notwithstanding all provocations. The love of God toward us is a love without a beginning, an everlasting love, and such love does not seek to crush the will of its object but to redeem and to ransom. God has not only invented a way of deliverance, but He has found a ransom, and that ransom is Christ Jesus Himself. Nobody would have thought of that way of deliverance of a sinner from the pit through a ransom if God had not thought of it. The clock of mercy strikes in Heaven the hour of deliverance when a soul turns to Him, for He says, Deliver him from going down to the pit, I have found a ransom.

Because we love you and desire your good, our prayer for you will be of another kind. We will pray that the Lord will show you the vanity and sin of invoking other powers, that you may turn from these things and seek forgiveness through the blood of Christ alone, for salvation is through Jesus Christ alone. We will pray that you may be dissolved by God's goodness, looking at all that He has done and at your own need, which renders that love the more wonderful. We will pray that you may know what it is to love and to be loved in truth, a love that is a spark of the eternal flame of God's love, which seeks the good of another and not its own mastery over him.

We will pray that the Lord will keep the person you have named in His own care, that no harm may come to him through these words, and that you may learn to commit your desires to the Lord in submission to His wise and holy will, respecting the liberty and conscience of others as you would have your own respected.

If you have been led to put out your hand to touch the unlawful thing, hear this, that an unchanging God and an everlasting covenant and a sure mercy are still set before you. Think not that you are forsaken while you may yet plead a Father's love and cry with the Spirit of adoption. Come to Christ as a sinner who can do nothing and knows it, and cast yourself upon free grace only. Confess your sin, forsake the invocation of spirits, and trust the Lord Jesus who was slain that captives might be brought forth effectually.

May the Lord grant you repentance and faith, and may you find in His love a better portion than any compelled affection could give. We urge you to seek the counsel of a faithful, Bible preaching church where you may hear the gospel of electing love and distinguishing grace more fully, and learn to walk in the light as He is in the light.

The prayer you have written has been read with sorrow and with care, and it reveals both a deep longing to be loved and a way of seeking that love which is not from God and cannot bring you peace.

What you describe is not prayer as God receives it. True prayer is not an attempt to bind another person, to take away his rest or sleep or freedom, or to force his desire. The Spirit of God is gentle and pure, like a dove, bringing grace and adoption, not compulsion and torment. The holy woman Hannah did not pray by trying to control another, but by standing before the Lord with reverence, with only her lips moving, trusting His goodness even when the answer was delayed. God delays at times not out of envy but out of kindness, to draw out earnestness and to lead us toward what is truly good.

Love also is not blind force. Scripture teaches that our love should abound more and more in knowledge and discernment, so that we may approve what is excellent and be sincere and without offense before God and before others. There are friendships that harm us and others when they are pursued without reason. Real love does not seek to tear another person away from his own will or to make him suffer until he yields. It is without pretense, kindly affectioned, honoring the other and preferring his good. To wish that a man would burn, be blind to all others, have no rest and no pleasure unless he comes to you, is not love. It is a desire to possess and to punish, and as one who hates or seeks to control another punishes his own soul more than the other, so this path will wound you most of all.

To call upon Pomba Gira, upon spirits of crossroads and the dead, is to turn away from the one name by which we are saved. There is one Mediator, Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us while we were still enemies. He does not share His throne with other powers, and He does not hear prayers that seek to do harm through them. To seek power from such spirits and to believe that repeating words or sending them to the four corners of the world will make them stronger is to trust in what has no power to save and much power to deceive.

God does not call you to continue in this way, but to mourn for what is wrong and to receive His comfort. Those who mourn for their sins are blessed, not because their sorrow itself saves them, but because God in His love for us does far more than forgive. He removes the punishment, cleanses the sin, and then gives abundant consolation besides. That comfort is greater than any labor of sorrow.

Therefore I cannot affirm this request or ask God to bless a bond formed by coercion and by spirits other than Christ. Marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman entered freely before God, and all intimacy belongs within it, given in love and not taken by force. What you have asked for stands against that design.

What I will pray for you, and I invite you to pray with me, is this: that God would have mercy on you and forgive you, that He would free you from any hold these invocations have upon you, that He would heal the ache that made you seek control over another, and that He would teach you to love with a pure and discerning love. I will pray also for the man you named, that God would guard him and keep him in peace, and that no harm would come to him through these words.

If you are willing, turn from these prayers, confess them to the Lord, and ask Him to cleanse you through Jesus Christ alone. Make room in your heart for Him. Choose the better resurrection and the better love that comes from knowing Christ, and trust Him to provide what is good for you according to His will, not according to compulsion. He hears the humble and reverent prayer, and He will not turn away a contrite heart.

Your longing to be loved and to be chosen is deeply human and God understands that desire. What you shared, however, is not a picture of love as the Bible describes it. It is a prayer for control, asking that another person be tormented, not allowed to rest or sleep or feel peace until he comes to you, that his eyes and desires be forced toward you alone and that other people be torn away from him. That is not love. That is an attempt to take away another person's will.

Scripture makes a clear distinction between different kinds of love. There is a physical love that is centered on the body and on self gratification. It seeks what it wants for itself and is better described as lust. There is an emotional love that is based on friendship and affection and is often reciprocal, I love you because you love me. Then there is a divine love, the love that comes from God himself. This love is giving, not taking. It gives without demanding return. God so loved the world that he gave his Son. That is the nature of true love.

The Bible says God is love and that love is the fruit of his Spirit in a person's life. When his Spirit lives in us, that love is shown in how we love one another. It suffers long and is kind. It does not seek its own way. It does not force or manipulate. It brings joy and peace and patience and kindness. The prayer you posted seeks the opposite. It asks that someone else suffer, that he be made restless and burned with desire, that he have no choice. Love does not do that.

True love also cannot be bought or forced. Many try to purchase love or to compel it through spiritual power, but genuine love cannot be obtained that way. Trying to buy it only cheapens it. God's love for us is not caused by anything in us and cannot be earned. It flows freely from his own nature, and it cannot be quenched. We love him only because he first loved us. When we come to understand how much he has loved us, our hearts respond to him. Our love for him is a response, not a payment.

Prayer is not a way to control God or to make spirits do our will. God is not a servant who is obligated to do what we tell him to do. If he answers and helps us, it is because of his grace and mercy, not because we have mastered a formula or invoked the right name. To turn to other spirits or powers besides the one true God is to give to another the love and trust that belongs to God alone. Scripture says God is jealous for our love and wants our supreme devotion. To seek love or power from another spiritual source while claiming to know God is spiritual unfaithfulness. He calls us to love him with all our heart and to have no other gods before him.

God's love for you is constant and not based on whether you are good or bad at any moment. It is rooted in who he is. Nothing can separate you from his love in Christ, not present circumstances or things to come. He is in control and he is working for good in the lives of those who love him and are called according to his purpose.

The way forward is not to try to bind another person to you, but to turn to Jesus Christ alone for salvation and for a true understanding of love. He alone can forgive, heal, and teach you to love with a giving love rather than a grasping one. That means turning away from invoking spirits and from prayers that seek to harm or control another person, confessing that need to God, and asking him to fill your heart with his own love.

We will not pray for that spell to succeed and we will not ask God to bless a controlling relationship, because that would not be loving to you or to the other person. Instead we pray for you, that God would show you his own faithful and uncaused love, that he would bring peace to your heart, free you from the desire to control, and help you to walk in the kind of love that gives, that is patient, and that respects the dignity of others. We pray that you would come to know Jesus and experience the joy and security of being fully loved by him, and that from that fullness you would learn to love others as he loves you.
