Your request for your mother and your family has been heard and we join you in bringing it before the Lord Jesus Christ with compassion and urgency.

We pray for your mother in her suffering and helplessness. We ask God to protect her, to grant her freedom from control and fear, and to provide for her physical needs. We pray that the Lord will make a way for her to receive her blood pressure medication without hindrance and for her cataract surgery that is booked for Monday to go forward as planned. We ask Him to give wisdom and favor with the doctors and medical staff, to steady her heart and body, and to surround her with peace. We also pray for your home as you desire to offer her a place of safety and rest, that it would be a place of healing where she can enjoy the good gifts God has given, with calm and dignity.

We pray also for your brother. We ask the Lord to have mercy on him in his severe mental illness, to bring clarity and self control where there is confusion and harmful behavior, and to lead him to the help he needs through proper medical and pastoral care. We pray that God would soften his heart and restrain any harm, and above all that he would come to know the saving grace of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have hope and new life.

We pray for you as you carry this burden. The Scripture calls us to honor father and mother, and your love for your mother in seeking her good reflects that command. At the same time the Lord understands when a household is divided and when loving well requires wise boundaries and perseverance. Continue to seek godly counsel, stay in close contact with trusted medical professionals, and do not hesitate to seek lawful help for protection when needed. Keep gathering with faithful believers who will pray with you and walk with you in person, not only at a distance.

May the Lord grant you wisdom to know each next step, strength to endure, and faith to trust that He sees your mother, hears your prayers, and is able to deliver and to heal. We will continue to pray that God will provide for her health, her safety, and her peace, and that He will work for good in your family for His glory.

In the name of Jesus Christ our only Savior we pray, amen.

Your heart for your mother is clear in this request, and the heaviness you and your family are carrying is very real. To watch a mother you love be controlled, to see her health needs for blood pressure medicine and for cataract surgery put at risk, and to feel helpless after trying so many avenues for help, brings deep sorrow. Thank you for bringing this before the Lord and for asking others to pray.

Scripture gives us a beautiful picture for how we are to regard older women, to treat them as mothers, with gentleness, honor and respect, not with harshness. That is the spirit you are showing in wanting to provide a safe and peaceful home where she can receive her medication, have the surgery she needs, and enjoy the simple good gifts of life again. The Bible also teaches that we have a responsibility to care for our own family, to do what we can to provide for their needs, and that this care is a basic expression of our faith. Your desire to see her cared for in this way is right and pleasing to God.

At the same time your request shows the painful complexity when love for a parent is entangled with a son who is unwell and controlling. We see something of this in David and his son Absalom. Absalom was in open rebellion against his father, even seeking his life, and yet David's heart remained tender toward him. He said deal gently with the young man. That does not excuse the wrong, but it shows how a parent's love can remain even when a child's behavior is destructive and wayward. It helps us understand why your mother may refuse to leave even when others try to help her pack and find safety. That bond is strong, and it can keep a person in a place of great vulnerability. We can love the one who is ill and still recognize that controlling behavior, especially over another person's money, medicine and medical care, is not right and must not be enabled.

Another lesson we can hold onto is that the Lord Himself is to rule over us. When others press to take control, we can remember that ultimate authority and protection belong to Him. He sees affliction, He hears when we cry out, and He is able to make a way even when people and systems seem unable to help. He is the one who can guard and hide and deliver, and He is the one who can work in your brother's heart to bring help for his illness and restraint from controlling others.

I am praying with you for your mother, for the appointment on Monday, for the cataract surgery that has been cancelled before, and for her need for blood pressure medication. I am asking the Lord to grant her protection, clear access to her own resources and medical care, and freedom from being controlled or prevented from receiving treatment. I am praying for wisdom for you, your cousins and all who are trying to help, that you may speak and act with respectful firmness, with patience and with love that does not shame your mother but honors her as a mother while also seeking her safety. I am praying for your brother, that God would bring the right medical and professional help to him, bring stability to his mind and behavior, and break the pattern of control. And I am praying for you as you open your home and heart to your mother, that the Lord would give you strength, grace and provision to care for her well.

Please continue to work with the medical professionals and the proper authorities for her care, keep a careful record of her medical needs and any interference with them, and continue to offer your mother a safe alternative without forcing her. Keep showing her steady love and keep pointing her to Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have salvation and hope, and who invites all who are weary and burdened to come to Him for rest.

May the Lord grant your mother healing, peace and the ability to receive the care she needs, and may He give your whole family wisdom, unity and comfort in the days ahead.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer for your family.

We have continued to bring your mother and your brother before the Lord. We have been praying for your mother in her sadness and helplessness, that the Lord would set her free from the control she is experiencing, that she would be able to manage her own money and make her own decisions, and that she would receive the medical care she needs. We have been praying specifically for her cataract surgery that was booked for Monday and for her need for blood pressure medication, and that your brother would not hinder her from seeing the doctor or getting her consultation and treatment. We have also been praying for your brother and his severe mental illness, that God would bring healing and improvement in his behaviour, and for wisdom for all of you as you have tried to help through the police, medical professionals, family and so many prayer groups and missionaries. We remember your desire for your mother to come and live with you and to have the nice life she deserves, with her medication and surgery, and to enjoy the theatre and movies she loves.

We pray in Jesus Name for the Lord to be near to your mother in her distress, for as it is written in Psalm 34:18 the Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart. We pray in Jesus Name that He would heal her body and restore her sight and health, for He healeth the broken in heart and bindeth up their wounds as promised in Psalm 147:3. We pray in Jesus Name that God would intervene where you feel helpless, that He would protect your mother, soften your brother's heart and bring peace to your home, and that He would make a way for your mother to live in safety and joy with you.

If your request was answered and your mother was able to have her surgery and receive her blood pressure medication and find freedom and peace, please post a praise report and let us all know so we can rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered and your mother is still being controlled and prevented from getting her care, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer.

May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.
