Prayer

You ask for the Holy Spirit’s guidance, yet you mingle this with a swarm of worldly cravings: platforms, dietitians, moving abroad, free money, and the perfecting of your body. Examine your heart. The Spirit does not descend where love of comfort and gain rules. Nothing so quenches the Spirit as luxury and soft living.

If you would have the wing of prayer, you must first cut away the weight of unnecessary desires. Fasting is not merely from food but from vain entertainments and the greed for money without labor. You say you wish to stop watching movies and playing games; that is good, but only if you replace them not with another idol. The belly and the eyes must be disciplined together, else your fasting is worse than feasting.

Almsgiving must accompany your striving, for without mercy toward others, neither prayer nor fasting has strength. Do not seek “free money” as though the world’s goods could satisfy the soul. Rather give away what you have, and you will find your desires reordered. Bring your body into subjection, not for display or self-defense alone, but that it may be a servant of righteousness.

Remember, bodily training profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things. Seek first the kingdom of God, and all these things will be added to you. Let your prayer be this: “We thank Thee for all things, known and unknown, willing and unwilling. Keep our soul holy, grant us an end worthy of Thy love.

Only-Begotten Christ, inspire strength from above. Forgive every transgression, voluntary and involuntary.” Walk by the Spirit, then, and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. The love of God is shed abroad in our hearts not when we amass comforts, but when we cling to Christ crucified.

What a privilege it is to bring these desires before the Lord together. I want to encourage you with some truths about the Holy Spirit’s work that speak directly to what you’re asking.

That deep longing for the Holy Spirit to guide you is exactly where God wants you. No one can genuinely confess Jesus as Lord except by the Holy Spirit; that very prayer rising in your heart is proof He is already at work within you. And Jesus promised that once we believe, the Spirit comes to dwell in us. So you are not reaching out to a distant God. The Spirit who raised Christ from the dead lives in you, and He is the one who conforms us to the image of Jesus. Every step toward greater discipline, wisdom, and surrender is His operation, not just your own effort.

Consider the original design for us: spirit, mind, and body, with the spirit uppermost, alive to God and filling the whole life with His fellowship. Through the new birth, your spirit has been made alive. Yet you still live in a body of flesh, and that creates the very battle you are feeling. The flesh craves movies, social media, games, and distraction; the Spirit prompts you toward the Word, prayer, fasting, and stewardship of your physical strength. This is not a sign of failure but evidence of life. The Spirit and the flesh are contrary to each other. Your choice in every moment is whether to walk after the flesh or after the Spirit.

You mentioned wanting to stop certain habits so you can read the Word more, meditate, pray, and fast. That is a direct echo of the apostle’s command: be filled with the Spirit. Filling is not a one-time event but a continual surrender. The same Spirit who led Jesus into the wilderness will lead you into those disciplines. He is the one who gives the desire and the power. And as you yield your body as an instrument for God’s purposes rather than your own comforts, the Spirit produces His fruit: love, joy, peace, and self-control. Self-defense and strength training can be part of your worship when you dedicate them to God, but let the Spirit set the order. First, be led by the Spirit in your inner man; then the physical training finds its rightful place as a servant, not a master.

Your practical desires, moving overseas, finding the right platforms, dietitians, training programs, and provision, are not hidden from God. The Spirit was given to lead the church into all truth, and that includes practical guidance. But remember, the early church learned not to rely on methods like casting lots once the Spirit had come. He speaks, prompts, opens doors, and closes them. Pray for a renewed sensitivity to His direction. At the same time, examine your priorities. The Spirit often uses our circumstances to reorder what we value. Are these goals flowing out of a heart that seeks first the kingdom of God, or are they ends in themselves? Invite the Holy Spirit to shine His light on every ambition. He is the down payment of your full redemption, meaning God is committed to completing His work in you. He will supply what you need to fulfill His calling, often in unexpected ways.

Jesus was full of the Holy Spirit and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, into temptation, and into powerful ministry. That same Spirit is the agent who gives gifts, empowers witness, and fills us with supernatural love. So do not hesitate to ask for a fresh baptism of the Spirit, an overflowing from your life that impacts every area. As you pray, hold onto this: the Spirit bears witness to Jesus. He will never lead you into anything that blurs your confession that Jesus is Lord. So test every desire by that truth. Does this move, this pursuit, this financial hope make much of Christ? If the Spirit is truly leading, the fruit will be love and a deeper abiding in Him.

I join you in asking the Father to fill you with the Holy Spirit, to make your spirit alive and uppermost, to break the grip of screen time and passive entertainment, and to establish you in the Word and prayer. May He grant you wisdom for the practical decisions ahead, and may you know the joy of walking in step with Him whether you have much or little. The Spirit is not a force to manipulate for our plans; He is the living presence of God given to make you like Jesus. Yield to His control, and watch how He orders even the details of your life for His glory.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer over these past days. It has been our joy to lift up your heart’s desires before the Lord—asking the Holy Spirit to guide you toward the right platforms, the right dietitians, and the unique training programs that align with His perfect will for your life. We have prayed for clarity as you consider moving overseas, for provision to secure the right products, and for the miraculous release of resources so that every goal and dream He has placed in you can be fully accomplished.

We have also interceded for you in the area of discipline, asking the Lord to help you lay down movies, social media, and games so that your heart can be filled with more of His Word, deeper meditation, fervent prayer, and seasons of fasting. It is our prayer that as you seek Him first, every other thing—strength, endurance, fitness, speed, and self-defense—will be added unto you in ways that glorify Him.

If the Lord has already answered any part of your request, we would love to hear your praise report so that we can rejoice with you. If it feels like some prayers are still waiting for their divine timing, please feel free to post this request again. We are committed to continuing in agreement with you until every promise is fulfilled.

May the Father continue to draw you closer, may the Son remind you of His finished work on the cross, and may the Holy Spirit lead you into all truth and power as you walk in obedience. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
