We hear your cry, dear sister in Christ, and we lift you up before the throne of grace with heavy hearts. Your burdens are many—financial strain, grief over lost loved ones, the deep pain of a wayward child, and the loneliness that presses in when the world seems to move on without you. Yet even in this, we see your faith clinging to the sweetest name, Jesus, and for that we rejoice. He is near to the brokenhearted, and He collects every tear in His bottle (Psalm 56:8). Let us stand with you in prayer and truth.
First, we must address the matter of your son with both truth and love, for Scripture commands us to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15). You call him an evildoer, and his actions—stealing from you, destroying your property, and cutting you off because of your faith—are indeed grievous sins. The Word warns that a man who does not provide for his own household is worse than an unbeliever (1 Timothy 5:8), and your son’s choices have brought you to this place of hardship. Yet even now, we must remember that no heart is beyond the reach of God. You are right to pray for his soul, for the Lord desires all to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). But we must also rebuke the spirit of entitlement and rebellion in him, for it is not of God. We declare that the Holy Spirit will convict him of his sin, and that he will be restored to both you and the Father—not because he deserves it, but because Christ’s love is greater than his hardness of heart.
Father, we come before You on behalf of our sister, asking that You would break the chains of bitterness and unforgiveness that could take root in her heart. Your Word says that if we do not forgive others, neither will our Father forgive us (Matthew 6:15). Lord, we pray that You would give her the strength to release her son into Your hands, trusting that vengeance belongs to You alone (Romans 12:19). Soften her heart to love him as You love him, even as she sets boundaries to protect herself from further harm. We rebuke the spirit of financial oppression over her life and declare that the wealth of the wicked is stored up for the righteous (Proverbs 13:22). Open doors of provision that no man can shut, and let her IRS refund come swiftly, as a sign of Your faithfulness.
We also lift up your grief over your parents. The pain of losing those who loved you is deep, but we take comfort in knowing that if they knew Christ, you will see them again. Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies" (John 11:25). Until that day, may the Holy Spirit comfort you as only He can, reminding you that God is your Father and will never leave you as an orphan (John 14:18).
Now, regarding your financial struggles, we must speak plainly: God is not a genie to be summoned for our convenience, but He is a loving Father who cares about every detail of our lives (Matthew 6:31-32). You are right to trust Him, but we must also examine whether there are steps of wisdom you can take. Have you sought counsel from your church or a godly financial advisor? Proverbs 15:22 says, "Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed." We encourage you to seek out those who can help you steward what God has given you, even in this season of lack.
We also must address the loneliness you feel. It is not wrong to desire companionship—God Himself said it was not good for man to be alone (Genesis 2:18). But we must be careful not to compare our lives to others, for each person’s journey is unique. Instead, we pray that God would fill your heart with His presence, for He has promised to be with you always (Matthew 28:20). Perhaps He is calling you to pour into others who are lonely as well, for in giving, we receive (Luke 6:38). And we declare that this season of isolation will not last forever. The Lord will restore to you the years the locusts have eaten (Joel 2:25).
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the name that brings salvation, healing, and deliverance. Lord, we lift up our sister to You, knowing that You see her every tear and hear her every cry. You are the God who provides, the God who comforts, and the God who restores. We ask that You would meet her in this time of financial need. Open the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it (Malachi 3:10). Let her IRS refund come quickly, and provide for her in ways that only You can.
Father, we pray for her son. Soften his heart, Lord. Break the hardness that has taken root, and let him see the error of his ways. Convict him of his sin, not to shame him, but to draw him back to You. Restore their relationship, not on the basis of what he owes her, but on the basis of Your grace. And if he does not repent, give our sister the strength to release him into Your hands, trusting that You will deal with him justly.
Lord, we ask that You would surround her with Your presence. Fill her with Your joy, which is her strength (Nehemiah 8:10). Remove the spirit of heaviness and clothe her with the garment of praise (Isaiah 61:3). Let her know that she is not forgotten, that she is deeply loved, and that her worth is found in You alone. Provide for her a community of believers who will walk alongside her, encourage her, and remind her of Your promises.
We declare that the enemy’s plans to steal, kill, and destroy in her life will not stand. You came that she might have life, and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We speak restoration over her finances, her relationships, and her joy. Let her see Your hand moving in her life in ways that leave no doubt that You are God.
And finally, Lord, we ask that You would continue to draw her closer to You. Let this season of hardship refine her faith, making it stronger and more steadfast. Teach her to trust in You with all her heart and lean not on her own understanding (Proverbs 3:5). May she find her rest in You, knowing that You are working all things together for her good (Romans 8:28).
We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, the name that brings hope, healing, and salvation. Amen.
Sister, we encourage you to hold fast to the promises of God. This trial is not the end of your story. The same God who parted the Red Sea, who raised Jesus from the dead, and who provides for the sparrows will not abandon you. Keep your eyes on Him, and do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, you will reap if you do not give up (Galatians 6:9). You are not alone. We stand with you, and more importantly, the Lord stands with you. Trust Him, and watch what He will do.
