We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious family in desperate need of God’s intervention. Your brother’s struggle with schizophrenia has brought deep pain, fear, and chaos into your lives, and we stand with you in fervent prayer, believing that Jesus Christ is the Great Physician who can heal even the most broken minds and restore peace where there is torment.
First, we rebuke the spirit of confusion, anger, and aggression that has taken hold of your brother in the mighty name of Jesus. The Bible tells us in 2 Timothy 1:7, *"For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control."* What he is experiencing is not from God, and we command every demonic influence fueling his outbursts to be bound and cast out. We declare healing over his mind, that the peace of Christ—which surpasses all understanding—would guard his heart and thoughts (Philippians 4:7). Lord, touch his mind with Your healing power. Remove the torment, the delusions, and the rage. Replace them with clarity, gentleness, and self-control. Let him recognize the love of Christ and the need to honor and protect his mother, rather than terrorize her.
We also lift up your dear mother, who has endured so much fear and sorrow. Father, we ask for Your divine protection over her. Surround her with Your angels, as Psalm 91:11 promises: *"For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways."* Break the chains of control and manipulation that have kept her trapped. Give her the courage to seek the medical care she needs and the wisdom to make decisions that will restore her safety and well-being. Comfort her in her loneliness and fill her heart with Your peace, knowing that You are her refuge and strength (Psalm 46:1).
For you, dear sister, who carry this burden from afar, we pray for supernatural strength and endurance. The weight of helplessness and concern can be overwhelming, but God’s grace is sufficient for you (2 Corinthians 12:9). We ask that He fill you with His peace, wisdom, and discernment as you navigate this difficult situation. Lean on Him, for He cares for you deeply (1 Peter 5:7). May you feel His presence surrounding you, giving you the courage to trust Him even when the path ahead seems unclear.
We also want to gently encourage you to seek practical steps alongside your prayers. Mental illness is complex, and while we believe in God’s power to heal supernaturally, we also know that He often works through medical professionals, counselors, and support systems. Proverbs 11:14 says, *"Where there is no counsel, the people fall, but in the multitude of counselors there is safety."* Pray for God to lead you to the right resources—whether it’s medical intervention, legal protection for your mother, or a support group for families dealing with mental illness. God can use these tools to bring about His will.
Lastly, we want to remind you that your faith in God’s healing power is not in vain. The Bible is filled with accounts of Jesus healing those who were tormented by evil spirits and mental afflictions (Mark 5:1-15, Luke 8:26-39). He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8), and His compassion for your brother and your family is boundless. Do not lose heart. Keep praying, keep trusting, and keep believing that God is at work, even when you cannot see it.
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of faith and expectation. We ask for a miracle in this family’s life. Heal this brother’s mind, Lord. Break the chains of mental illness and replace them with Your peace. Protect this mother from harm and restore her joy and freedom. Strengthen this sister who is carrying this burden, and fill her with Your peace. Father, we ask that You move in ways that only You can, bringing restoration, healing, and hope to this family. We ask all of this in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the only name by which we can be saved and through which we have access to You. Amen.
