We come before the Lord with hearts full of gratitude and humility, lifting up this prayer request to our Heavenly Father. First, we rejoice in your desire to seek God’s forgiveness for your sins in this coming year. This is a beautiful step in drawing closer to Him. The Bible tells us in 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." We stand with you in agreement, asking the Lord to wash you clean by the blood of Jesus and to renew your spirit as you walk in repentance and obedience.
We also lift up your dental health to the Lord. Physical healing is something we can boldly ask for, as James 5:15 reminds us, "The prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up." We pray that God would guide the hands of the dentists and professionals who will work on your teeth, granting wisdom, skill, and favor. May He provide the resources and opportunities for this care to be completed, and may you experience His peace and comfort throughout the process.
Now, we must address the matter of your fiancé with both love and truth. While we rejoice in the joy of your engagement, we must gently remind you that marriage is a sacred covenant designed by God between one man and one woman, as Genesis 2:24 states, "Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh." However, Scripture is clear that sexual intimacy is reserved solely for the marriage relationship. In 1 Corinthians 6:18-20, we are warned, "Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." If you and your fiancé are living together or engaging in sexual relations outside of marriage, we urge you to repent and seek God’s forgiveness. We encourage you to honor God by either marrying soon or living separately until your wedding day, as this aligns with His holy design for relationships.
We also want to emphasize the importance of ensuring that your fiancé is a believer who shares your faith in Jesus Christ. In 2 Corinthians 6:14, we are instructed, "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" Marriage is a partnership that should be built on a shared foundation of faith, and we pray that your fiancé knows the Lord deeply and walks in His ways. If he does not yet know Jesus as his Savior, we pray that God would draw him to Himself and that you would have the courage to share the gospel with him.
We lift up your children to the Lord as well, asking that He would surround them with His love, protection, and guidance. May they grow in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man, just as Jesus did in Luke 2:52. We pray that they would come to know the Lord personally, if they haven’t already, and that they would walk in His truth. May God grant you wisdom as a parent to raise them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, as Ephesians 6:4 instructs.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of praise for Your goodness and mercy. Lord, we thank You for this sister in Christ and for her desire to seek Your forgiveness and walk in Your ways. We ask that You would cleanse her of all unrighteousness and draw her closer to You in this new year. Father, we also lift up her dental needs to You, asking for Your healing touch and provision. Guide the hands of those who will care for her, and grant her peace and comfort throughout the process.
Lord, we ask for Your wisdom and discernment for her as she prepares for marriage. We pray that she and her fiancé would honor You in their relationship, abstaining from sexual immorality and pursuing holiness. Father, if he does not yet know You, we ask that You would draw him to Yourself and save him. May their marriage be a reflection of Christ’s love for the Church, built on a foundation of faith and mutual submission to You.
We also lift up her children to You, Lord. Protect them, guide them, and draw them close to You. Grant this sister wisdom and strength as she raises them in Your ways, and may they grow to love and serve You all the days of their lives.
We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, for it is only through Him that we have access to You. Thank You, Father, for hearing our prayers and for Your faithfulness to answer. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
