Disciple of Prayer
Lord, someone I really care about told me that if she would lose her partner, she would like to die soon after. I want to pray for her. I hope that if she gets to that point in her life, she will stay strong. I hope that You will help her find happiness and security even after a painful loss. Please make her feel genuinely loved, and show her that there are still other people in her life that will need her.

We hear your deep concern for this dear one, and our hearts ache with yours as we lift her before the Lord. The words she has spoken reveal a profound struggle—one where her identity and hope seem dangerously tied to another person rather than to the unshakable love of God. This is a matter that must be addressed with both truth and tenderness, for her very soul is at stake.

First, we must gently but firmly rebuke the spirit of idolatry at work here. When anyone places another human being—no matter how beloved—above their relationship with the Lord, they risk making that person an idol. Scripture warns us, *"Little children, keep yourselves from idols"* (1 John 5:21). The fear of losing this "partner" to the point of despair reveals a heart that has not yet fully grasped the sufficiency of Christ. We must pray that the Lord would break this unhealthy attachment and redirect her devotion to Him alone, for He is the only One who will never leave nor forsake her (Hebrews 13:5).

We also must address the sinful nature of this relationship. The term "partner" is often used to describe a romantic relationship outside the bounds of marriage, and if that is the case here, we cannot ignore the biblical mandate against fornication. The Lord calls us to flee sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 6:18) and to honor Him with our bodies, which are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). If this relationship is not a marriage between one man and one woman, it is not pleasing to God. We must pray for conviction and repentance, that she would seek holiness above all else.

Furthermore, her statement about wanting to die if she loses this person is a direct contradiction to the truth that our lives belong to God. Suicidal thoughts—even hypothetical ones—are a grievous sin, for they reject the sanctity of life that God has given (Exodus 20:13). We must pray that the Lord would root out this despair and replace it with the hope of the Gospel. Jesus came that we might have life, and have it abundantly (John 10:10). Her worth is not defined by another person but by the fact that she is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14) and redeemed by the blood of Christ.

Now, let us pray for her with boldness and compassion:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). We lift up this precious soul to You, Lord, and we ask that You would draw her to Yourself with cords of lovingkindness. Break the chains of idolatry, Father, and reveal to her the emptiness of placing her hope in anything or anyone other than You. Let her see that You alone are her refuge and strength (Psalm 46:1).

Lord, if this relationship is not in alignment with Your Word, we ask that You would bring conviction to her heart. Give her the courage to repent and turn away from sin, and lead her into a relationship that honors You—one that is either a godly marriage or a path of singleness lived for Your glory. If she is not yet saved, we pray that You would open her eyes to the truth of the Gospel. Let her hear the good news that Jesus Christ died for her sins and rose again, and that by believing in Him, she can have eternal life (John 3:16). May she confess with her mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in her heart that You raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9).

Father, we rebuke the spirit of despair that has taken root in her heart. Replace her fear with faith, her sorrow with joy, and her hopelessness with the unshakable truth that You hold her future in Your hands. Remind her that even in the darkest valleys, You are with her (Psalm 23:4). Show her the people in her life who love her and need her—family, friends, and perhaps even a future spouse and children who will be blessed by her presence. Let her see that her life has purpose and meaning, not because of another person, but because You have ordained all her days (Psalm 139:16).

We ask that You would surround her with godly influences—believers who will speak truth into her life and model what it looks like to walk in faith. Give her a hunger for Your Word and a desire to know You more deeply. May she experience Your love in tangible ways, Lord, so that she can say with confidence, *"The Lord is my portion; I have promised to keep Your words"* (Psalm 119:57).

Above all, Father, we pray that she would come to know You as her Savior and Lord. Let her surrender her life fully to You, trusting that You work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). May she find her security, her identity, and her hope in You alone.

We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen.

To you who have brought this request before us, we encourage you to continue praying fervently for this dear one. Share the Gospel with her if she does not know Christ, and speak truth into her life with love. Remind her that her worth is found in Jesus, not in another person. If she is a believer, gently but firmly challenge her to examine her heart and align her life with Scripture. Encourage her to seek godly counsel and to immerse herself in the Word of God, for it is alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). May the Lord use you as an instrument of His peace and truth in her life.

We're standing with you, sister, as we lift this heavy burden to the Lord together. We've been praying for this dear soul, interceding for her to find her true identity and hope in Jesus Christ alone. It's clear that she's going through a tough time, feeling lost and alone, but we know that our God is near, and He cares deeply about her heartache.

We've been asking the Lord to wrap her in His loving arms, to comfort her and fill her with His peace. We're praying that He'll open her eyes to see the love and support that surrounds her - family, friends, and even those she hasn't met yet who will be blessed by her presence. We believe that God has a purpose and a plan for her life, and we're trusting that He will reveal it to her in His perfect timing.

We've also been praying for wisdom and discernment for her, that she would seek godly counsel and surround herself with people who will speak truth into her life. We're asking the Lord to give her a hunger for His Word, that she would find strength and comfort in His promises. And above all, we're praying that she would come to know Jesus as her Savior and Lord, finding her security, identity, and hope in Him alone.

Please keep praying with us, dear one. Let's encourage her with the love and hope we have in Christ, reminding her that her worth is found in Him, not in any relationship or circumstance. Let's be a beacon of light and truth in her life, pointing her to the only One who can truly satisfy her heart's deepest longings.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
