Beloved of All
Prayer members I sent in my request for a old college friend to communicate with me. We lost communication many years ago but I contacted him a few years ago. I wanted to know why did he stop speaking to me. In my request I let it be known that he evaded the issue but he was in love with me at that time I did not have the same feelings but as the years went by he was the one. This was platonic on my end just for clarification. No matter who I have met through the years nothing there. ..I want to marry him not something that God does not approve of. I can't have anything I want. I am crazy to believe that he would even want me. Some of my friends and family never got the love the wanted so I am accepting that on my behalf. His name is ###. A pastor said he liked a lady she did not want to marry a pastor he kept pursuing her to no avail she ignored him for sometime then he asked one of our senior pastors to talk to her he did and they got married. What I am asking God to give me is just as important to me. I want someone to care about me to. In Jesus name Amen.

We understand the deep longing in your heart for connection, love, and the desire to reunite with this man in a way that honors God. Your honesty about your feelings is commendable, and we want to address this with both compassion and truth, rooted in Scripture. You’ve shared that your feelings for him have grown over time, and now you desire marriage—a godly and honorable desire when aligned with God’s will. However, we must also examine the motivations of your heart and ensure that this pursuit is not rooted in loneliness, fear of missing out, or an attempt to fulfill an emotional void outside of Christ. True fulfillment and love come first from our relationship with Jesus, and any earthly relationship must be built upon that foundation.

You mentioned that your past interactions with this man were not reciprocated in the way you now hope, and that he once evaded the question of why he stopped communicating with you. This raises questions about his intentions, his walk with Christ, and whether this is truly a path God is leading you both toward. We must be cautious not to chase after what *we* want but instead seek what *God* wants. Proverbs 19:21 reminds us, *"Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is Yahweh’s counsel that will stand."* Similarly, Proverbs 3:5-6 instructs, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."*

You also shared a story about a pastor who pursued a woman until she agreed to marry him. While this may seem like a hopeful parallel, we must be careful not to compare your situation to others’. God’s will is unique for each person, and forcing a relationship—even with good intentions—can lead to heartache if it is not His design. 1 Corinthians 7:39 tells us that a spouse should be *"in the Lord,"* meaning both parties must be committed followers of Christ, walking in obedience to His Word. Have you considered whether this man is actively seeking the Lord? Is he living in a way that reflects a surrendered life to Christ? These are critical questions, for *"Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?"* (Amos 3:3).

Additionally, you expressed feelings of unworthiness, saying, *"I am crazy to believe that he would even want me."* Sister, your worth is not found in whether this man—or any man—chooses you. Your worth is found in Christ alone, who loved you so deeply that He gave His life for you. Ephesians 1:4-5 declares, *"He chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and without defect before him in love, having predestined us for adoption as children through Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his desire."* You are *chosen*, *loved*, and *valued* by the King of Kings. If this man does not reciprocate your feelings, it does not diminish your worth. God’s plan for you is good, even if it looks different from what you envision.

Now, let’s address the matter of prayer in Jesus’ name. You did well to end your request with *"In Jesus name, Amen,"* for it is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to the Father. John 14:6 says, *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"* And Acts 4:12 reminds us, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* It is essential that we always approach God through the name of Jesus, for He is our mediator (1 Timothy 2:5). We encourage you to continue praying in His name, surrendering this desire to Him and trusting that His will is perfect.

As for your request, we will pray with you, asking God to make His will clear. If this man is the one God has for you, then the Lord will soften his heart and open the doors for reconciliation and godly courtship leading to marriage. If not, we pray God will give you peace and redirect your heart toward His perfect plan. We also pray that you would find your ultimate satisfaction in Christ, so that whether this desire is fulfilled or not, your joy remains complete in Him.

**Let us pray together:**

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the precious name of Jesus, lifting up our sister who longs for love, connection, and the restoration of this friendship with the hope of marriage. Lord, You know the deepest desires of her heart, and You alone know what is best for her. We ask that You would search her heart and reveal any motives that are not aligned with Your will. If there is any fear, loneliness, or idolatry in this desire, we pray You would convict her and help her surrender it fully to You.

Father, we ask for Your wisdom and discernment. If this man is the one You have chosen for her, we pray You would soften his heart and draw him to her in a way that honors You. Open the lines of communication between them, and let Your will be done in this situation. But Lord, if this is not Your plan, we ask that You would close this door gently and redirect her heart toward the man You *have* prepared for her—or prepare her for a life of singleness that is just as fulfilling in You.

We rebuke any spirit of rejection, unworthiness, or comparison that may be tormenting her. Remind her, Lord, that she is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), that she is Your beloved daughter, and that her value is not determined by any man’s affection but by Your perfect love. Fill her with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), and help her to trust You even when the path is unclear.

Lord, we also pray for this man. If he is not walking closely with You, we ask that You would draw him to Yourself. Let him seek You first, above all else, so that if You do bring them together, it will be a union founded on Christ. Protect them both from emotional entanglements that are not of You, and guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, Father, we pray that our sister would find her ultimate satisfaction in You. Let her delight herself in You, and we declare that You will give her the desires of her heart as she aligns them with Your will (Psalm 37:4). Strengthen her faith, Lord, and help her to wait on You with patience and hope.

We ask all these things in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.

I understand your longing for connection and love, and I share your desire for a godly and honorable marriage. It's natural to have questions and uncertainties, but remember, God sees your heart and knows your needs better than anyone else. Keep seeking Him, and trust that He has a perfect plan for your life. As Psalm 37:4 tells us, "Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart." Let's continue to pray together, asking God to reveal His will and guide your steps. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
