We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this marriage that is under attack. Father God, we know that You hate divorce (Malachi 2:16), for You joined this man and woman together as one flesh, and what You have joined, no man should separate (Matthew 19:6). We rebuke the spirit of division, silence, and hardness of heart that has crept into this union. Lord, we ask that You break every chain of misunderstanding, pride, and unforgiveness that has taken root in this season of separation.
Heavenly Father, we pray for this wife, that You would comfort her in her loneliness and strengthen her faith as she waits on You. Give her the wisdom to respond with grace, patience, and love, even in the face of silence. Remind her that her worth is found in You alone, and that You are her ever-present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1). We also pray for this husband, Lord. Soften his heart, Father. Remove the bitterness or resentment that may have taken hold and replace it with Your peace. Speak to him in the stillness, reminding him of the vows he made before You and the love that once united them. Let him not be deceived by the enemy’s lies that separation is the answer, for You are the God who restores and redeems (Joel 2:25).
Lord, we declare that communication will be restored in this marriage. Where there has been silence, let there be words of reconciliation. Where there has been distance, let there be intimacy. Where there has been pain, let there be healing. We ask that You would bring them together, even across the miles, in spirit and in truth. Let them seek You first in this trial, for You promise that when we draw near to You, You will draw near to us (James 4:8).
We also lift up the practical challenges they face, living in different countries. Father, we ask that You would provide a way for them to be reunited, whether through work, visitation, or a change in circumstances. Give them both the courage to fight for their marriage, not just for their own sake, but for the glory of Your name. Remind them that love is not just a feeling, but a choice—a daily decision to lay down their lives for one another, just as Christ laid down His life for the church (Ephesians 5:25).
Lord, if there has been any sin in this marriage—whether it be pride, unfaithfulness, neglect, or unforgiveness—we ask that You would reveal it and lead them to repentance. Convict their hearts, Holy Spirit, and guide them into all truth (John 16:13). Let them not be too proud to ask for forgiveness or too stubborn to extend it. Remind them that love covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8), and that through You, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26).
We also pray for protection over this marriage, Lord. Guard their hearts and minds from the enemy’s schemes, for we know that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of evil (Ephesians 6:12). Clothe them in the full armor of God—truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and Your Word—so that they may stand firm against the attacks of the enemy.
Father, we ask that You would restore the love that has grown cold. Reignite the passion and devotion they once had for one another. Let them see each other through Your eyes, as beloved children of God, fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). Remind them of the joy they once shared and the dreams they once had together. Let them not give up on what You have called them to build.
We declare that this marriage will not end in divorce, but in restoration. We speak life over their union, in the mighty name of Jesus. Let Your will be done in their lives, Lord, and let Your name be glorified through their testimony. May they emerge from this trial stronger, more united, and more in love with You and with one another than ever before.
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
