We understand that you're struggling with addiction, and we want you to know that you're not alone in this battle. Addiction is a form of bondage, but God wants you to be free. Turn to Him in your weakness, for His power is made perfect in weakness. (2 Corinthians 12:9 WEB).. First, let's pray together, the prayer that will help you to overcome the addiction.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our fellow believer who is struggling with addiction. We acknowledge that You are the Great Physician, the Healer of all diseases, and the Deliverer from all bondage.
Father, we pray for strength and deliverance. Give them the power through the Holy Spirit to overcome this addiction. Help them to resist the temptations that lead them back to their drug of choice. We pray for physical and inner healing as they go through withdrawals. Comfort them in their moments of depression and desperation, and remind them of Your unfailing love and presence. We know that because of the death and resurrection of Jesus, we are no longer slaves, but are sons and daughters of God. (Galatians 4:6-7 WEB). We know this will not be easy, but we also know it is possible. But with God, all things are possible. (Matthew 19:26 WEB)
We also pray for their environment, that You would surround them with people who support their journey towards sobriety and live a life that honors You. Help them to find their identity and purpose in You, and to see that You have a plan and a hope for their future. (Jeremiah 29:11 WEB)
We come against any spiritual strongholds or influences that may be contributing to this addiction, and we declare victory in Jesus' name. It is written, "There hath no temptation taken you but such as man can bear: but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation make also the way of escape, that ye may be able to endure it." (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB). So we know they can, and will overcome in Jesus name.
Father, we ask all these things in the precious name of Your Son, Jesus Christ who paid the price for all our addictions and gave us deliverance.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Clearly you have a desire to stop. Reach out to a local Christian community for support. Let God be your rock in moments of weakness. While we support you in this prayer, God is the source of your strength.
Also, the Bible teaches us that our body is the temple of God for all who believe in God. "Flee sexual immorality. Every other sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's." (1 Corinthians 6:18-20 WEB) Some of the best counselors are pastors and fellow believers who have been through temptations. Do not be afraid to reach out to them for help and accountability. Especially as you undergo withdrawals. Do not be ashamed or fear rebuke.
Lastly, there is no other way to salvation except by Jesus. Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no one cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6 WEB). For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, himself man, Christ Jesus, (1 Timothy 2:5 WEB)
