Prayer to Sacred Heart of Jesus

Dear Sacred Heart of Jesus, in he past I have asked for many favours, this time I ask You this special one (that I pass my exam application). Take it dear Heart of Jesus and place it in Your own broken heart, where our Father sees it, then in His merciful eyes, it will become Your favour, not mine Amen.

We notice that while your prayer is earnest and heartfelt, it is directed to the Sacred Heart of Jesus rather than praying to God the Father in the name of Jesus Christ, as Scripture instructs. The Bible makes it clear that we are to approach God the Father through Jesus, who is our only mediator. In John 14:13-14, Jesus Himself says, "Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it." The name of Jesus is the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is through His name alone that we have access to the Father (Ephesians 2:18).

We also want to gently remind you that prayers directed to any other entity, whether it be Mary, angels, or saints, are not aligned with Scripture. Jesus is our High Priest (Hebrews 4:14-16), and we are to come boldly to the throne of grace through Him. We encourage you to pray directly to God the Father in the name of Jesus, trusting in His mercy and sovereignty.

Now, let us lift your request to the Lord together, praying in the name of Jesus Christ for your exam application. Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Your Son, Jesus Christ. We lift up this dear one who seeks Your favor in passing their exam application. Lord, You are the God of all wisdom and knowledge, and we ask that You grant them clarity, focus, and understanding as they prepare. We trust in Your perfect will, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28). If it is Your will, Lord, we ask that You open the door for this exam to be passed successfully. But above all, we pray that Your name would be glorified in this situation, and that this one would grow closer to You through it. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and help them to trust in You alone. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

We also want to encourage you to place your full trust in God’s plan for your life. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Even if the outcome of this exam is not what you hope for, know that God is sovereign and has a purpose for everything. Keep seeking Him, studying His Word, and growing in your relationship with Him. He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).

We’re praying with you about this exam application. It’s clear this matters deeply to you, and you’re doing the right thing by bringing it honestly before the Lord, not trying to carry the weight on your own. That takes real trust, and we honor it.

Waiting on an outcome like this can stir up a lot of anxiety. Our minds spin, we second-guess the preparation we’ve done, and the days stretch out. In that space, it helps to remember that God is not distant from these small, concrete pressures. He doesn’t roll his eyes at a request about a test or an application. He welcomes us bringing the things that feel big to us, because he’s a Father who cares about our whole lives, not just what we label “spiritual.”

While we join you in asking for a favorable result, we also want to gently encourage something alongside the praying: put your energy now into whatever preparation you can control, and then leave the rest in God’s hands. Study well, get good rest, and when the anxious thoughts resurface, practice turning them right back into short, honest prayers. Not big, polished ones, just “Lord, steady my mind” or “Help me trust you with this.” That habit often calms the heart more than we expect.

However the outcome unfolds, your standing in Christ isn’t riding on a pass or a fail. That doesn’t mean it’s not important; it just means God’s care for you is already settled. And we’re grateful you let us stand with you in that.

Lord Jesus, you know the hopes and nerves wrapped up in this application. We ask you to give our friend clarity of mind, calmness of spirit, and favor in this process. Help them to prepare well and to rest in your goodness, knowing you hold their future securely. Thank you that we don’t have to carry anxiety alone. Amen.

You speak of a broken heart, but see to it that it is not a divided one, for a broken heart in true contrition is not divided, though it be shattered. A heart divided between trust in Christ alone and trust in forms of devotion fashioned by men is held guilty, and a very small prick in the heart is deadly. Bring your poor broken heart to the heart that was once pierced by the soldier's spear and find sweetest rest in Jesus, but know that no prayer placed in some imagined broken heart, as if the Sacred Heart were a separate treasury of favours, can turn a request from yours into His. God hears the prayer that He Himself has put into the heart, and you have asked Him for a heart of flesh. That is the prayer He will not despise.

I hear your anxiety over this examination, but your prayer, if it be found in your heart, must be placed on no other altar than the person of Christ the Mediator. He is the Healer of broken hearts, and He binds up the wounds of those who faint with a thirst for His mercy. Yet if you think to gain His ear by addressing a physical organ deified, you let some earthly thing come in and get uppermost, and the common sin of God's people, slackness in prayer, may itself be fed by a false confidence in words and images. Search the sepulcher of such rites and you will not find the signs of life. Prayer is a living thing, but you cannot find a living prayer in a dead heart of formal devotion.

The Lord Jesus passed by David's heart and threw in the prayer he needed; so too He instructs and inclines you to pray aright. Cry to Him now, "Unite my heart to fear Your name," and let the love of God be shed abroad in your heart by the Holy Spirit. That is the sweet perfume, not the recitation of a formula that places a request into His broken heart as if He must present it to the Father afresh. He is the one Mediator, and His own intercession is sufficient. If your heart is bleeding with care, bring it to the bleeding heart of Jesus, not as a vessel to contain favours, but as the fountain opened for sin and uncleanness. He receives graciously those who come with nothing but a broken and contrite spirit, and to such He will give a new heart, a heart of flesh that fears Him only, and He will hear the prayer He has placed there.

You ask the Sacred Heart to place your exam before the Father, so that He might see it as Christ’s own favor. But do you not know that our Lord’s heart was broken for the sins of the world, not for the passing of earthly tests? He who was silent before His accusers, though He could have summoned legions of angels, did not petition for a lighter cross. And you would have Him petition for a favorable mark on an application? Examine what you ask. For if you truly desire the favor of His heart, then seek first the joy that is not of this world, the gladness of angels, the freedom from anxiety that comes when you surrender your will entirely to God. If the exam is for His glory, it will be granted as He sees fit, not as you imagine. But if your heart clings to this one thing as your hope, you have already failed a far weightier test. Pray instead that your heart may be filled with that heavenly joy of which the Psalmist speaks, so that whether you pass or fail, you remain steadfast in the love of Christ. Then your petition will be transformed, and you will receive what you truly need.

You have brought your request to Jesus, placing it in His broken heart. That is a good place to bring anything, yet we must stop and ask a deeper question: what is the desire of my own heart right now? God is not interested merely in the words we speak when we ask for a favor. He looks straight through the request and into the hidden motivations beneath it. The heart is deceitful above all things; I can easily dress up a petition in devout language while my heart clings to its own will above everything else. So let me ask honestly: is this exam my true treasure, or is my deepest longing to know and walk with the One whose heart was pierced for me?

He knows the secrets of every heart. When we come with words only, while our heart is far from Him, the worship becomes empty. But when we come with a broken and contrite heart, a heart that says, "Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me and know my anxious thoughts", He will not turn that away. He does not despise genuine need, but He wants the need to drive us toward Him, not just toward a desired outcome. So examine the posture of your own heart. Is it divided, loving Him with the lips while clutching earthly success as the real anchor? He already knows the answer; He is waiting for you to bring the real you into the light.

When a heart is whole toward the Lord, a remarkable thing happens. He works in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure. He plants His own desires deep within, until the thing we long for begins to align with what He is doing. That does not mean we never ask for daily bread or help in our endeavors, but the primary cry becomes, "Incline my heart to Your testimonies and not to covetousness." If passing the application is truly from Him, He will put that steady desire in your heart and carry it forward, not because you bartered with ritual words, but because your heart rests in His hands. If it is not His path for you, a surrendered heart will find Him far sweeter than any passing achievement.

Do not try to cover the real state of your heart before God. You cannot. Go before Him openly and ask Him to deal with whatever He sees, fear, ambition, distrust, or a heart that has grown distant. Jesus' heart literally broke under the weight of sin and sorrow, and from that broken heart flowed blood and water. That death is your life. In light of that sacrifice, the greatest request you can make today is not "pass my exam," but "create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me." A heart made pure through His mercy will see more than any earthly success can offer.
