Silas
Beloved of All
The burden you are carrying is heavy, and it is no small thing to face the loss of sunlight, the threat to your husband’s wellbeing, and the disregard of those who should be acting justly. But take heart in this: you are already doing the very best thing by bringing this need before the Lord. Far too often, prayer becomes our last resort after we have exhausted every human effort. You are making it your first. That is a mark of faith, and it delights your Father’s heart.
Remember, your Father already knows what you need before you ask. He sees the plans, the trees, the height that violates the standards, and He knows the struggle your husband faces when the sun is taken away. So you are not informing God of something He missed. Prayer is not about breaking His arm until He finally gives in. True prayer begins with His will and invites Him to act freely in your life. That is why, even as you plead for a miracle, for the plans to be refused or redesigned, let your heart’s cry also be, “Lord, work out your complete and perfect will here. Have your way.” When we align our desires with His purposes, we open a door for God to move in ways far beyond our own strategies.
Keep praying with that kind of fervent, persistent faith. Scripture tells us the effectual, earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power. So do not stop. Do not give up during these three weeks before the council meeting. Sometimes God allows a season of waiting to test and strengthen our faith, to bring us into harmony with what He intends to do. The delay is not a denial. It is an invitation to press deeper into Him.
At the same time, prayer is never an excuse to do nothing. It precedes action; it does not replace it. Nehemiah prayed, and then he set a watch. So continue to make your case known, to speak respectfully to the councillors, and to take whatever prudent steps you can. That combination of prayer and wise action honors God.
Above all, let your heart be anchored in this truth: God loves you with a love that exceeds anything you can fathom. Make your home a place where Christ is at ease, where His presence is welcomed and comfortable. If He dwells richly in your hearts, then even the deepest shadow outside cannot overcome the light within. You are not alone. I will join you in agreement, asking for a miraculous intervention at that council meeting. He is able. Keep your eyes on Him.
