We join our hearts with yours at the throne of grace and give thanks that you have brought this burden to the Lord, for deliverance is of the Lord and it must be accomplished by His own hand. There is comfort in knowing that we have been delivered from worse enemies than any that flesh can see, and saved by a greater salvation than any earthly conquest, through the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Scripture declares that He has delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son. This deliverance is as much the work of God as is our justification, and we must look to our heavenly Father altogether and alone for it. God has not only invented a way of deliverance, but He has found a ransom, and that ransom is Christ Himself. When the lamb was slain, deliverance was made effectual, and therefore we do not doubt it, for God has said, I have found a ransom. No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn, for this is the heritage of the servants of the Lord.
Let us pray together.
O Lord our God, we come in the name of Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who is our only hope and our only salvation. We confess that apart from Thy free grace we can do nothing, and that if we ever rise from our need it must be by Thy mighty arm alone. We ask that Thou wouldst render to nothing the works of the evil one, and that the stratagems of principalities and powers of darkness in high places may be brought to nought by the power of the cross. Let the arrow of the Lord's deliverance be shot on our behalf, for Thou art our strength and our shield.
We pray not for favor as the world counts favor, but for Thy favor which is life, and for Thy mercy which endureth forever. Grant us such blessings and such miracles as shall most glorify Thy name and most conform us to the image of Christ. Let Thy glory be seen in Thy church and throughout the world, not as we imagine glory, but as Thou revealest it in holiness, truth and love. Teach us to put on the whole panoply of God and to grasp the sword of the Spirit, that being saved we may seek to save others, and being enlightened we may carry light into dark places.
We thank Thee that Thou hast not given us over unto death, though Thou hast chastened us, and that Thy purpose standeth fast. Fulfill Thy good pleasure in us, and cause us to walk willingly in the way of Thy salvation, giving Thee all honor for every deliverance wrought. All this we humbly ask in the precious name of Jesus Christ our Lord, with thanksgiving. Amen.
