We join you in lifting up your beloved dog before the Lord, for we know how deep the bond is between an owner and an animal entrusted to his care and how painful it is to watch him suffer. The Lord cares for all of His creation and He sees your compassion for this animal. As it is written, A righteous man respects the life of his animal Proverbs 12:10 and Yahweh, you preserve man and animal Psalm 36:6. Even the sparrows are not forgotten by our Father, for not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father's will Matthew 10:29, and He provides food for the livestock Psalm 147:9. Your love and concern for your dog reflects the heart of a good steward of what God has given you, and we commend you for seeking prayer and for seeking help.
We also want to gently share with you that we come to God only through Jesus Christ, for you did not mention His name in your request and we want you to know the hope we have. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is by the name of Jesus that we have access to the throne of grace to ask for mercy and help in time of need, and it is through faith in Him that we have forgiveness of sins and eternal life. We encourage you to put your trust in Him for every need, for your own life first of all and also for all that concerns you.
We pray together for you and for your dog now. Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We thank You for Your creation and for the animals You have placed in our care. We lift up this dear dog who is suffering and we ask for Your mercy and compassion upon him. Lord, You know his pain and his illness, and we ask that You would bring relief from his suffering, comfort him, and restore his health according to Your perfect will. Guide the hands and wisdom of any veterinarian caring for him and give his owner wisdom to provide the best care possible. Grant peace to his owner in this time of worry, and remind him that You are near to all who call upon You. We ask all of this in the precious name of Jesus, our Savior and our hope, amen.
We encourage you to continue to show that faithful stewardship by seeking good veterinary care promptly and following their guidance, while you continue to pray and trust the Lord with the outcome. The Lord hears the prayers of His people and He is compassionate. We are praying with you for your dog's comfort and recovery and for your own peace as you wait upon the Lord.

There is a tenderness in your request which moves our hearts, for the Lord has made us to have compassion upon the creatures He has given into our care, and He Himself notes even the sparrow's fall. We have heard your sorrow over your dog in his suffering, and we do agonize with you in prayer to God for you, for true prayer is not mere words that foam away, but a pleading of the heart with humble boldness before the throne of grace.
We very speedily care for bodily diseases, for they are painful and urge us to seek the Physician, and it is right and good that you bring this grief before the Lord. We will pray that, if it be His wise and merciful will, He would ease your dog's pain and restore him to health, for His tender mercies are over all His works. Yet we must commit the outcome to His will, saying, If it pleases God it pleases me, and breathing that handy prayer which suits every time of need, Lord, help me. May He give you grace to bear this trial and to trust His goodness whether He restores or calls away.
But let me speak also of a still higher meaning, for Scripture tells us of a sickness of the soul which, when felt, leads to everlasting health. The one remedy for sin sick sinners is the Word of God, applied by the Holy Spirit, and that Word is Christ Himself, whom God has sent for the healing of poor sin sick souls. No hand can heal a sin sick soul but the hand that wounded it, even the hand of God through Jesus Christ our Lord. While you seek mercy for your creature, seek also the great Physician for your own soul. Be diligent in reading His Word and eager to hear it, for faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God, and there is healing and praise for all who look to Him.
