My new dog - sad news update

God got the trainer to come today, so that was good. But, the unfortunate news she brought with after seeing the dog wasn't what we expected to hear. Unfortunately, we can't keep this dog. As of today, he has been very aggressive & we have never seen him like this. As it's technically only the third day, the trainer said that it's not normal. We have been missold by the animal rescue center, whether they knew this or not I do not know, but what's done has gotta be done.

Today, he has been barking in the garden at the door from seeing the trainer with my mum, at the fence as if to try & get the neighbours dog that he can't see & also jumping up (we don't want to affect our neighbours in such a bad way), & at little kids playing (which he also can't see, only hear).

When we let the dog out (as he is a rescue dog, he had to decompress, so he had to be in the bathroom, as we had nowhere else to put him), he was roaming around, we also had to ignore him as part of the decompression process. We all had our backs to him, but I had my arm down, not crossed, & he had his mouth open & was like he tried to go at my arm (I had a long sleeve top on so no mark, but I'm just glad it wasn't worse than that). He also later on headbutted my backside on purpose, I don't know why he keeps going for me, maybe because I accidentally, without realising, pointed at him yesterday (which made him bark at me in that moment). He also won't let me sit on the sofa. & as I'm more scared, it's like he pushes me around. So, it's not safe for me to be around him.

As my brother has anxiety, the trainer said it would worsen his anxiety & will also not help the dog.

Also, when my mum goes work, that wouldn't be good for me & my brother to be left alone with him or to even enclose him to the garden or the bathroom also wouldn't be a good idea.

Unfortunately, as we are first time dog owners, we are inexperienced & didn't know a lot of what we found out today, & as we are first time dog owners, that dog shouldn't have been given to us, but to a person who has experience with a dog like him.

He is a very strong dog, not just on the lead, but in the sense of his breed. He is a mix between 4 dogs, all very strong dog breeds on their own, but all together is not good for us as first time dog owners, he is supposed to be a working dog, like a police dog.

I need for someone to take him today, we cant go on like this, even if its just for the rest of today, I don't see that being a good thing for me, my family or the dog. So please pray that the animal rescue center picks him up or the police or whoever it is to be.

Lord, I pray that You help us to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Somehow I know You're gonna do something with this situation, i don't know what & I don't know, but please help me to trust You in this. Thank You for this experience with this dog, even though it didn't work out. Please help it to work out, the dog being put to a safe environment for himself & others, & for me & my family to find another dog that's suitable for us. I don't know how long it will take, but help us to be patient. If You can use this situation to help my mum & brother who dont believe in You that would be amazing. Please reveal to me & my family the reason for this happening. I can see it as being an answered prayer, even if it didn't last, You still let me have this dog & I'm grateful for what little time we had together. Also, the fact that I started my letters to You the day before we got him is my way of keeping him as a memory. In the name of Jesus I pray, amen

Thank you to anyone who replies or prays for me, God bless you

We hear your heart and the heavy burden you carry in this difficult situation. It is clear you sought to do what was right in welcoming this dog into your home, yet the reality of his aggression has made it unsafe for your family, especially for you, your brother with anxiety, and your neighbors. The trainer’s assessment confirms what you already sensed: this was not the right match, and the rescue center’s oversight in placing such a strong, reactive dog with first-time owners has created a painful outcome for all involved.

First, we want to affirm your trust in God’s sovereignty even in disappointment. You rightly recognize that He allowed this experience for a purpose, and your willingness to seek Him in it, even through tears and frustration, is a testimony of faith. The Lord does not waste our trials, and we join you in praying that He would use this situation to draw your family closer to Himself. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." You are already living this out by surrendering the outcome to Him.

We also rebuke the spirit of fear that has taken root in your home. The aggression you’ve witnessed is not of God, for "God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control" (2 Timothy 1:7). The enemy would love to use this situation to breed anxiety, division, or even resentment toward the rescue center or the dog. But we declare that this home will not be a stronghold for fear. Instead, we pray for peace to guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

For the dog, we pray he would be placed in the hands of someone equipped to handle his strength and temperament. Psalm 102:19 says, "For he has looked down from the height of his sanctuary. From heaven, the Lord saw the earth; to hear the groans of the prisoner; to release those who are condemned to death." We apply this verse to the dog’s plight, may he be released from a situation that has become harmful to him and others, and may he find a handler who can steward him with wisdom.

We also lift up your family’s faith. You mentioned your mother and brother do not yet believe in the Lord. This trial is an opportunity for them to see God’s hand at work in real time. Pray that as they witness your trust in Him, their hearts would soften to the truth of the Gospel. Romans 10:17 tells us, "So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Even in this hardship, the Word is at work.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, yet confident in Your goodness. Lord, we thank You for ###’s willingness to step out in faith to care for this dog, even when the outcome was not as hoped. We ask that You would move swiftly to remove this animal from their home and place him in the care of someone equipped to handle him. Protect ###’s family from harm, and guard their hearts from fear or bitterness. Lord, we pray for the rescue center, that they would be convicted of their responsibility in this situation and take steps to prevent such mismatches in the future. Most of all, Father, we ask that You would use this trial to draw this family closer to You. Open the eyes of ###’s mother and brother to see Your hand at work. Let them witness Your faithfulness in the midst of disappointment, and let this be a testimony that leads them to salvation. We trust You to redeem this situation for Your glory, and we ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

In the coming days, we encourage you to:
1. Release the dog with a clear conscience. You acted in good faith, and the trainer’s assessment confirms this was not the right fit. Do not carry guilt for a decision made with integrity.
2. Invite God into the process of finding another dog. If you feel led to try again, ask Him to guide you to a pet that will be a blessing, not a burden. Proverbs 16:3 says, "Commit your deeds to the Lord, and your plans shall succeed."
3. Use this as a bridge to share Christ. Your family’s unbelief is not a surprise to God. Pray for opportunities to speak of His faithfulness, even in hardship. 1 Peter 3:15 reminds us to "always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, with humility and fear."
4. Guard your heart from fear. The enemy would love to use this experience to make you hesitant about trusting God again. But remember, "perfect love casts out fear" (1 John 4:18). God’s love for you is not measured by circumstances, but by the cross.

We will continue to stand in prayer with you as this situation unfolds. May the Lord give you peace that surpasses understanding as you wait on Him.

We can hear how shaken you are after such a frightening few days, and we’re so glad the trainer was able to come when she did. That you acted quickly on her guidance, for your own safety and your brother’s wellbeing, took real wisdom, not inexperience. It’s okay to feel enormous relief mixed with sadness; you did the right thing for everyone, including that dog.

Right now the most urgent thing is to get him somewhere safe for today. If you haven’t already, please call the rescue center directly and stress the aggression and the trainer’s assessment. If they can’t come immediately, ask the trainer to help advocate or suggest another responsible contact, sometimes a breed‑specific rescue or even local animal control can step in temporarily while things are sorted. But don’t try to manage him alone; keep yourself and your brother physically separated until he’s been taken, and don’t take chances.

We’re thankful you’re already seeing this as an answered prayer in a way you hadn’t imagined. That takes honest trust. God is not far from you in this bewildering moment, and He cares deeply about your family’s safety and your mum and brother’s hearts. Your little notebook of letters to Him is a beautiful anchor; don’t stop writing, even when you can’t see the shape of things.

Father, for this family we ask immediate relief: bring the right person to collect the dog today, with no more close calls. Surround them with your peace that pushes out fear, and let this whole confusing story become a window through which the rest of the family glimpses your kindness. Hold them steady, and in time give them a dog that fits their home, a companion of comfort, not conflict. In Jesus’ name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The trainer’s coming was no accident; it was the hand of Providence that sent her at the very moment you needed her word, hard though it was. Do not think it a small thing that God granted you this mercy before harm might have come. The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and He has kept you from a greater fall, perhaps from injury, or from a fear that might have deepened into lasting distress. He is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before His glory with exceeding joy. Though the way seems dark, this is safety, not disaster.

You speak of your mother and brother who yet walk in unbelief. Oh, that this trial might be the very plow that breaks up their fallow ground! The mother who loves her child, who has seen the danger you were in, may now have a heart made tender. Pray for her without ceasing. The family altar is the place of power; let your private devotions be as incense, and who knows but that this strange providence may be the door through which the Spirit enters your whole household? The ark of safety stands open; Noah’s wife and sons and their wives went in together. Oh, that your mother might yet be like that queenly dame, entering the covenant with her offspring! The Lord can do this. He who removed the curse in a moment can lift this present sorrow and turn it to eternal gain.

As for the creature itself, be not dismayed that you were misled. You were kind and willing, and God accepted the intent of your heart. The time you spent, the prayers you wrote, these are not wasted. Even the dog’s brief stay was appointed; perhaps it awakened a need in your soul that nothing else could. Now commit it entirely to the Lord. He knows where the beast should go, whether to experienced hands or to some place where its strength may be well employed. Trust Him who marks the sparrow’s fall to guide this matter also.

Do not let fear master you. The One who holds the sea in the hollow of His hand can certainly overrule an aggressive dog and the policies of a rescue center. Wait patiently, and see if He does not open a door for another, gentler companion in His time. In the meanwhile, hold fast to that blessed exercise of writing your prayers. These memorials of your heart will be sweet to look upon years hence, when you can trace the thread of mercy through every tangled hour.

Seek the Lord while He may be found. He has promised to be found of those who seek Him. Your danger is past; your safety is assured in Christ. Now live in that safety, and let your gratitude rise like the morning sacrifice.

Do not be troubled that this creature, meant for good, has turned against you. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God, and what seems a ruinous disappointment is often the very means by which He teaches us to trust not in our own strength, but in His power alone. When the Apostle says, “He still dwells upon proving that the whole work is to be ascribed to the power of God, repressing the highmindedness of those that glory in themselves,” he reminds us that safety is never in our experience or in the nature of beasts, but in the hand of the Maker. This dog’s sudden fierceness has shown you your own frailty, and that is a mercy, for it drives you to the shelter of the Most High.

You cry out for deliverance, and this very prayer is already a victory of faith. For as that just man uttered his cry when in great dangers, from which there was no other possibility of recovery than by the aid of God, so you have rightly fled to Him. Of men, not any one can promise a swift resolution, but God, more trustworthy than all, has declared that He works all things for good to those who love Him. You do not see the end; neither do you see God, but you firmly believe He is there.

Hold fast to that faith. The animal must be removed for the safety of your household; pray for that, and it shall be done, for favor from God waits on you in every part of your proceedings. And as for your mother and brother who do not yet believe, consider: this very shaking of earthly props may be the appointed hour for the seed to fall. They see you, in terror, yet clinging to God, and that witness is stronger than any sermon.

When reason fails and the dog’s jaws threaten, then the soul is forced to ask, “Where is help?” And if they behold you taking refuge in the unseen Lord, they may learn to seek Him too. So the evil itself becomes a door to salvation. Only do not let fear drive you back like a senseless beast. You have already given thanks for the brief time with the dog, and that gratitude pleases God more than many sacrifices.

Continue in that lowliness of mind, for the sacrifice of God is a broken spirit. He resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Now let your petition be with confidence: that the animal be taken to those equipped to handle him, and that your family receive a gentler companion in due season. All will be well, for the whole matter rests not on the temper of a dog, but on the power and grace of God.

What you're going through right now is deeply unsettling, and it's no wonder fear has taken hold. That sense of being pushed around in your own home, the worry for your brother's anxiety, the shock of aggression from a dog you hoped would be a companion, all of it is heavy to bear. When your heart is racing and you feel cornered, it's easy to forget that the Lord is near and that His strength hasn't deserted you. Fear has a way of narrowing our vision until all we see is the threat, but the remedy is to lift our eyes back to the One who has never failed to keep His children.

You were right to call the trainer and right to act on her counsel. A strong, working-breed dog with unexpected aggression is not a safe addition to a first-time home, especially when your brother's anxiety and your own safety are at stake. There is no guilt in protecting your family from real danger; in fact, a wise person recognizes the peril and steps out of the way. The dog needs an environment with experienced handlers who can manage his drives, and that is not a judgment against your love for him. Sometimes the most compassionate choice is to entrust a troubled animal to those who can give it what it requires, before someone gets hurt more seriously.

I hear your prayer for your mum and brother, and I truly believe God can use this disruption to soften their hearts. When life doesn't go as planned, people start asking deeper questions, and your steady trust in Jesus, even in the middle of disappointment, speaks louder than any argument. The letters you've started writing to God are precious. They mark this season not as a failure but as a milestone of your own faithfulness. Keep pouring out your heart to Him. He is not distant; He hears.

Do not underestimate the spiritual weight of what you're facing. Fear is one of the enemy's oldest weapons, designed to get you reacting in the flesh rather than resting in faith. The fear of a snarling dog or an uncertain future can make you want to panic, but the fear of the Lord is different. That reverent awe, hating evil, clinging to His ways, is the beginning of wisdom and the sum of real knowledge. When you choose to trust His character over your jittery emotions, you step onto solid ground. Remember the Lord: He has been faithful before, and He will be again. The consciousness of His presence is what melts terror away. David said he would fear no evil because the Shepherd was with him. That same Shepherd holds you now.

As you navigate the practical steps of returning the dog or finding a suitable placement, go forward with confidence. Do not let the enemy whisper shame about being "inexperienced." God uses humble beginnings. The right dog, one suited to your household, may still come in His time, and this painful interlude will have taught you things you could not have learned any other way. Let this experience refine your family's prayer life and your own dependence on the Lord. Even the strain can be turned to good if it draws you all closer to Him.

Hold fast to this: when a man's ways please the Lord, even his adversaries can become at peace. This chaotic chapter will not last forever. The morning is coming, and your job right now is to walk in the light you have, with your hand in the hand of the One who never lets go.
