Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing your heart and for wanting to bring this desire before the Lord with thanksgiving. God hears the prayers of His people and He invites us to bring our wants to Him, not so He will simply do what we ask, but so He can align our hearts with His will and show His power in our lives.
You prayed against principalities and powers of darkness, and Scripture speaks directly to that. There is a real battle going on between the forces of darkness and the forces of light, and people are held by the power of darkness. But Jesus has already defeated the enemy. Colossians 2 teaches that He spoiled principalities and powers, triumphing over them through His cross and making an open display of His victory. The decisive victory was already determined at the cross. What remains for us is to bring the victory of the cross into lives and situations through prayer. You can have real victory in your life, and you can bring that victory into the lives of others through prayer, because God does not need great numbers or great strength to give the victory. If He wills to give it, He is able.
God is still the God of miracles. Scripture shows Him drying up the Jordan so Israel crossed on dry ground as He had done at the Red Sea, providing food so that a hundred men ate and there was bread left over, and opening the eyes of the blind. No miracle is too great for Him. Yet the greatest miracle He does is spiritual, opening our eyes to see the things of the Spirit and giving us victory over sin. The purpose of His work in us is to bring us into a life of victory over sin and power over it. That victory comes as we walk in the light. If we say we have fellowship with God and walk in darkness we deceive ourselves. To walk in darkness is to walk in hatred and sin, blinded and stumbling, not knowing where we are going. To walk in the light is to walk honestly before Him, confessing sin and turning from it.
That is why true victory also touches the flesh. By the Spirit we can put to death the deeds of the flesh, and find victory over areas like temper, jealousy, and wrong attitudes. Scripture calls us to reckon our old nature to be dead, so it no longer rules over us. When temptation comes we reckon that old self dead and turn the matter fully over to Jesus Christ. It is not a victory of trying harder or counting to ten, but of God changing us from within and taking away the power that used to drive us. It is a process, and as long as we are in these bodies we will feel the pull of the flesh, but there is victory for you no matter what the area of weakness is, as you trust His Spirit to take over.
Faith is the victory that overcomes the world. That faith also allows us to have victory before we see the victory. Scripture describes those who went out to battle singing praises for the victory already, rejoicing before the work was accomplished, because they trusted the Lord whose mercy endures forever. Paul says we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. You can rejoice and praise God before you see the answer, trusting His providential care. He hovers over His people as an eagle over her young, concerned for you and able to make your cup run over. But having victory can also be a place of danger if we begin to trust our flesh, so we must remain humble and dependent on Him.
So together I pray for you in Jesus name. Father, thank You for Your victory through the cross and for Your power over every force of darkness. I ask that You bring the triumph of Jesus into this situation. You know the want that has been lifted up. If this desire is according to Your will, I ask that You work in a way that only You can receive glory for, and if it is not, I ask that You transform the heart to want what You want, and to find contentment and joy in Your will. Grant victory over sin, help to walk in light and not in darkness, and power by Your Spirit to put to death what does not please You. Give faith to trust You before the answer is seen, to praise You now, and to seek Your glory over all the earth, for the earth is Yours and Yours is the kingdom. Let Christ reign in this life and let Your name be honored. Thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
