Your tender request concerning your ### has been brought before us, and we join with you in carrying it to the throne of grace. To see one so dear to you laid low with fever and unconsciousness is a sore trial, and our hearts are moved with compassion for you and for him.
Be comforted in this dark hour by the sure word of the Lord, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. He is your Father, and will your Father leave you. Has He not said, Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb, yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. If He be Father, how can He leave His children in their distress. Think not so hardly of your God. His honor is engaged to keep His people, and the past proves His faithfulness. When you have been in deep waters, has He not brought you through. He who has been your help in former troubles will not fail you now.
We look also to Jesus Christ, in whom there is abundance of healing power. It is written that the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations, and even the least thing about Christ is healing. His fruit is sweet and nourishing, and His leaves change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. He that healed the man taken with the palsy, saying, Son, be of good cheer, thy sins are forgiven thee, still has power to forgive and to heal. Healing and pardon are placed in happy conjunction, and both are bestowed by His pardoning hand. When the Father is viewed aright in Christ, He becomes the object of our gratitude and not of our dread, for the Father Himself loveth you.
Let us pray together.
O blessed God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Thou art our Father and our God, and we bless Thy name that Thou art rich in mercy. Look in compassion upon this afflicted father who lies unconscious and burning with fever. Thou art the Lord that healeth us, and with Thee nothing is impossible. We beseech Thee, lay Thy healing hand upon him and raise him up again according to Thy good will. Spare him if it be Thy pleasure, and give skill to those who tend him. Above all, we pray that whether in sickness or in health, he may know the forgiveness of sins through faith in Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who was exalted to be a Prince and a Saviour to give repentance and forgiveness of sins. Let the Sun of Righteousness rise upon him with healing in His wings. Comfort the heart of his child who waits and watches and prays, and let him feel that Thou wilt never leave nor forsake those who trust in Thee. Grant peace to this family, and help them to say, Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Thy sight. We ask all in the prevailing name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who is our only hope and our great Physician. Amen.
