Chrysostom
Beloved of All
We join you in giving thanks to God for His goodness, and we bring your requests before Him with you.
We pray that the Lord will grant you deep and peaceful rest, that He will restore and strengthen your wife in health, and that He will keep and protect your loved one under His care. We also ask Him to show you His favor in your finances and to provide a wise and cost effective solution for the car issue that is before you.
For the struggle against lustful thoughts, hear what Scripture teaches. God is faithful and will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape so that you may be able to endure it. The way of escape is not found in our own resolve alone, but in walking by the Spirit, for when we walk by the Spirit we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. This also means not making provision for the flesh to fulfill its desires, but caring for the body only for health and for service to God, and giving all diligence to spiritual things.
So we encourage you to watch and to guard your heart, remembering that the one who thinks he stands should take heed lest he fall, and the one who has fallen should not despair but rise again. Keep close to Christ through prayer, through feeding daily on Scripture, through fellowship and through fleeing from whatever stirs temptation, whether it be images, idle time, or unguarded thoughts. When temptation comes, turn quickly to prayer and to the Word, and God will give you patience and a speedy release.
Let us pray together. Father, we thank You for Your goodness and mercy. Grant our brother rest for body and soul, heal and sustain his wife, set Your protection around his household, and open a door for financial provision and for the repair of his car according to Your wisdom. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, teach him to walk by the Spirit, cleanse his mind, and make him sober and watchful in all things, that he may live to please You. Keep him in Your grace and strengthen him to stand firm, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
