We join you in lifting up your son before the throne of grace and we share your burden for him in this painful season. We hear your heart as a parent who sees him struggling with alcohol and with a broken heart and acting in ways that are not like himself, and we stand with you to seek God's will together in Jesus' name.
The Word of God speaks clearly about both of these struggles. About wine and strong drink we are warned in Proverbs 20:1 that wine is a mocker and beer is a brawler, whoever is led astray by them is not wise, and in Ephesians 5:18 we are told don't be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit. Alcohol may seem to numb the pain of a broken heart for a moment, but it brings bondage and leads us further from the clear mind and self control God desires for us. Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit as taught in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, and God wants to set your son free, not to condemn him but to heal him. At the same time the Lord has deep compassion for the brokenhearted. Psalm 34:18 tells us Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit, and Psalm 147:3 says He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. The things he is doing out of character are symptoms of a heart that needs healing and a soul that needs deliverance, and God is able to do both.
We also want to remind you how deeply he is loved. Even when he may feel unloved or unworthy, Romans 5:8 declares that God proves his own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. His most urgent need is to realize not only your love as a parent, but the everlasting love of his heavenly Father who sent His Son to save him. There is hope while there is breath, and it is never too late to turn to the Lord. 1 Corinthians 10:13 promises that God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it, and 2 Corinthians 5:17 assures us that if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old things have passed away, behold, all things have become new.
We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently share why that name is so essential. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and that anyone can be saved. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 teaches there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. To be saved we must believe in our hearts and confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and that God raised Him from the dead, as Romans 10:9 says, that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. We pray that both you and your son know this personal relationship with Jesus, for that is where true freedom and healing begin.
We pray together for him now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this precious son to You. Lord, You see his struggle with alcohol, You see the pain of his broken heart, and You know the things he has done that are not of his true character. We ask You to have mercy on him and to deliver him from the bondage of drunkenness. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit instead, give him a clear mind and strength to say no to temptation and to walk in the way of escape You provide. Heal his broken heart, Lord, draw near to him in his crushed spirit, bind up his wounds, and let him feel and know how deeply he is loved by You and by his family. Remove shame and despair and replace it with hope. Open his eyes to see that Your love has not left him and that it is not too late. Lead him to repentance and to faith in Jesus Christ, that he may become a new creation in You. Give his parent peace, wisdom, and perseverance to love him with truth, to set healthy boundaries, to speak life, and to point him continually to You and to godly counsel and help within the body of Christ. We trust You to complete the good work You have begun. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
We encourage you to continue to bathe him in prayer, to speak the truth in love, and to encourage him toward help that honors God, including pastoral counsel, accountability with mature believers, and wise support for addiction. Keep pointing him to the Word of God and to the hope that in Christ he is deeply loved and can be made new. The Lord is near and He hears your prayers.

We are holding you and your son in our hearts as you carry this worry. Watching someone you love act in ways that are not like himself, especially when alcohol and heartbreak are tangled together, is painful and frightening, and it makes sense you would feel an urgency for him to know he is deeply loved.
One thing that has helped other families is understanding that alcohol often becomes a way to escape hurt, anxiety or loneliness for a little while, even as it quietly makes the underlying pain heavier and harder to face. That does not mean your son does not care, it often means he is trying to cope and needs more support than willpower alone can give. Love spoken steadily in calm moments can still get through, even when he minimizes what is happening.
If he is open to it, gently encouraging a conversation with his doctor, a counselor, or a trusted pastor, or a recovery support group, can be a next step alongside prayer. You do not have to walk this alone either. Talking with a pastor or a support group for families affected by a loved one's drinking can give you strength and wisdom for the days ahead.
Father, we bring this son before You, ask You to surround him with Your love and protection, to quiet his heartache and loosen alcohol's hold, and to help him hear and believe how much he is loved by You and by his family. Give his mother peace, wisdom for each conversation, and faithful people around them both. In Jesus' name, amen.

Thanks for reaching out to us for prayer and support. May heavenly Father God love and bkess all who come to him. Pray. Have experienced with God. Encountered with Lord Yeshua. The cross. Saving our lives from death. Giving us peace and comfort in tough times and doing his will. His good will. May we continue in prayer praise and worship often. In his name we pray amen. We have heard your burden for your son and have carried it before the Lord with you, and we join our prayers with yours for him in his hour of sorrow and bondage.
It is a grievous thing to see one we love with a broken heart and ensnared by strong drink, doing what is contrary to his own better character. Scripture shows us that when the heart is wounded and estranged, and grace is at its lowest ebb, a man will wander from one sorrow to another, for he has not as yet a heart to perceive the presence and love of God. Yet very closely allied to this great calamity is one of the greatest spiritual blessings, namely a broken heart that is brought to the Lord to be bound up. The same sorrow which now lays him low may, by the mercy of God, become the prick in the heart which leads to true repentance and healing.
Be comforted by this, that the Healer of broken hearts is One whose own heart was broken. Our Lord Jesus Christ knows what despair means, for His heart was pierced for us, and He died of a broken heart that broken hearts might be healed. He has come to bind up the broken in heart, to bring to such the consolations of His grace and to apply them with His own tender hand. There is an abundance of healing power in Him, and not only His great work but the very leaves of the Tree of Life, the least word that falls from His lips, is full of healing virtue for head and heart, conscience and affection. A leaf from that tree is medicine fitted even to raise the dead.
We are praying that the Holy Spirit will now create in your son a new heart and bestow upon him spiritual eyes to see and ears to hear the love of God in Christ. We pray that he may be cut to the heart by a sight of that boundless love which gave the well beloved Son to die for sinners, and that he may know himself truly loved, not only with your faithful love as a parent, but with the everlasting love of God which is in Christ Jesus. That love does not leave us in our sin, but pardons and heals in one. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He said, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you, for pardon and healing are one in His hand. O that your son may hear that voice, that the bones which have been broken may rejoice, not merely grow calm, but rejoice in full restoration.
We pray also for his deliverance from the snare of alcohol, which promises relief but brings only further bondage and blundering and tossing to and fro. There is no peace unto the wicked while he walks in that way, but there is peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ for all who turn and believe on Him. He is our righteousness, a perfect and everlasting righteousness, provided for all who believe on the Son, and he that believes on the Son has everlasting life.
Let us pray together. O Lord our God, look in mercy upon this son who is brokenhearted and bound. Thou seest his wounds and his wanderings. Have compassion upon him and show him how much he is loved, even while he was yet a sinner Christ died for him. Grant him a heart to perceive, open his eyes to see invisible things, and his ears to hear Thy voice which speaks peace through the propitiation of Thy Son. Create in him a new heart and put a right spirit within him. Forgive his sins and heal his sickness, break the chains of strong drink and bind up his broken heart with Thine own gracious hands. Bring his poor bleeding heart to the heart that was pierced for him, that he may find sweetest rest in Jesus. Keep him from despair and keep his parent from fainting, and hasten the day when he shall testify that Thou hast healed him. For Jesus sake, Amen.
Continue to bring him before the throne, and to set before him, as God gives you opportunity, the Word of Christ, for even a broken portion of that Word, lovingly spoken, may be the leaf that brings healing to his soul.
