Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing this prayer and for beginning with thankfulness for the goodness of the Lord. That is the right place to start, because everything we need is found in Jesus. Apart from Him God has nothing for us, but in Him we have forgiveness, love, joy and peace.
You asked for deep peace and good rest. Scripture makes a distinction that is important to remember. First we need peace with God, and that only comes through the blood of Jesus Christ shed for us. When we trust in His finished work on the cross, we are brought out of darkness into His kingdom and we have peace with God. Then from that place we can know the peace of God in our daily lives, the peace that passes all understanding and the perfect peace that He keeps for those whose minds are stayed on Him.
Many people have peace with God but still do not walk in the peace of God because they have not learned to rest in Him. True rest is not found in philosophy, in religion, in pleasure, in prosperity, or in trying harder in our own strength. You cannot rest in your own works or skills or efforts. In the flesh we only fail and then we become discouraged and lose our peace. The only place you will ever truly rest is in faith, resting in what Jesus has already done. That means a complete commitment and abandonment to God, trusting that He is able to do what you cannot do for yourself. When your mind is stayed on Him and you labor to enter into that rest by faith, He will keep you in perfect peace even when the world around you is full of turmoil. Jesus said, Peace I leave with you, and that peace is His gift to you as you abide in Him.
I join you in prayer for health needs you mentioned, for your loved ones, for the lung issues and the heart issue and for quick healing. God knows the thoughts He thinks toward you, and they are thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you hope and a good end. He has not forgotten you. Bring these physical needs before Him and trust His mercy. We often add mercy when we pray for those we love because we know how much we all need His mercy along with His grace and peace. Ask Him for healing according to His will, and ask also for strength to trust Him while you wait.
You also asked for help against lustful thoughts. That is a right and honest prayer, and God honors it. The Word tells us that God discerns the thoughts and intents of the heart. Victory does not come by trying in the flesh, but by keeping your mind stayed on Christ and walking in the Spirit. Bring every thought captive to Jesus, turn quickly from what tempts you, fill your mind with what is pure and true, and rely on His power to make you holy. He is faithful to help you walk in purity, for sex and intimacy belong only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman.
Let us pray together. Father, thank You for Your goodness. Thank You for making peace through the blood of Jesus so we can have peace with You. Lord, give this dear one Your perfect peace and good rest. Help them to keep their mind stayed on You and to rest in faith in Your finished work. Touch each health need that was lifted up, the lungs and the heart and every other concern for loved ones, and bring healing as You will. Give quick recovery where it is Your will and give strength and comfort in the waiting. By Your Holy Spirit give power to overcome lustful thoughts, to turn from temptation and to walk in purity and holiness. Keep them in Your grace, mercy and peace through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.
