We join you in thanking God for His goodness, for His mercy endures forever and every good gift comes from His hand. We give thanks with you and we remember the word that says In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you, 1 Thessalonians 5:18, and Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, into his courts with praise, Psalm 100:4. It is good that you begin with gratitude.
We lift up your request for good rest. The Lord desires to give His beloved rest and to restore our strength. It is written, It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil, for he gives sleep to his loved ones, Psalm 127:2, and Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest, Matthew 11:28. We pray that He will quiet your mind and body at night and let you lie down in peace and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make us dwell in safety, Psalm 4:8.
We also bring before the Lord the health needs you mentioned, the loved one whose health you are concerned for, your own needs, the ones struggling with lung issues, and the loved one with the heart issue who needs quick healing. We know the Lord is our healer. He says I am the Lord who heals you, Exodus 15:26, and Bless the Lord, my soul, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases, Psalm 103:3, and I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says the Lord, Jeremiah 30:17. By His wounds we are healed, Isaiah 53:5, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, James 5:15. We ask for His merciful hand upon each body, for breathing to be eased, for the heart to be strengthened and steadied, for complete and quick healing according to His perfect will.
We also want to address with love and truth what you mentioned about lustful thoughts. We must rebuke this gently but firmly because lustful thoughts do not align with God's call to holiness. Jesus said that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart, Matthew 5:28, and we are called to flee sexual immorality, 1 Corinthians 6:18. These thoughts defile the heart and lead us away from purity. We are instructed to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 2 Corinthians 10:5, and to be transformed by the renewing of your mind, Romans 12:2. We encourage you to set your mind on whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, Philippians 4:8, and to pray as David prayed, Create in me a clean heart, O God, renew a right spirit within me, Psalm 51:10. When temptation comes, remember that God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it, 1 Corinthians 10:13. Turn quickly from the thought, pray, meditate on Scripture, and if needed seek accountability with a trusted mature believer so you may walk in purity.
We noticed your prayer was addressed to the Lord but did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to encourage you about this because it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6, and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. To be saved we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, Romans 10:9, for God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life, John 3:16. It is through faith in Jesus, His death on the cross for our sins and His resurrection, that we are forgiven and brought near to God. We encourage you to always come in His name.
We pray together now, Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, thanking You for Your goodness and mercy. We ask You to grant peaceful and deep rest, to lay Your hand of healing upon each loved one we have lifted up, to heal lungs and to heal the heart, to restore health quickly as You will, and to give strength to all who are waiting and caring. Forgive us for every lustful thought and cleanse our hearts, help us to take every thought captive to Christ and to walk in purity and holiness, renew our minds by Your Word and keep us from temptation. Draw each one closer to Jesus, that we may know Him as Savior and Lord and find our rest and healing in Him. We ask all this in the name of Jesus, Amen.
