Beloved of All
Sin and evil have overtaken me, yet You sent condemners and evil people to my right hand and to my left, and You have not sustained me. You let them oppose what I love and what has been apportioned to me, and You let them use things that were forgiven to fight against me. You set abusers against me.

And yet, I never asked to come into this life. You know their hearts. You know they would not truly cover my education when I was younger, yet You let them block my life repeatedly. You let the abuser make me the reason for her problems and the heaviness she carries.

Alright. My expectation is that You have not fulfilled. What You said, You did not honor. You deceived me and misled me into destruction. You used me to preserve other people during the COVID season. You promised me land for blessing, but instead made it a forever disgrace.

You used me to correct Your own mistake, which You recorded in Your book. You made my enemies my judges. Now You will not hear me, and perhaps You have apportioned me with the unrighteous.

Alright. I do not know where help will come from, for You have failed me and forsaken me.

Death would have been profitable when the time was right. I will remember, if I am able. If You reject that, alright. But if You will repent and relent, You have heard my voice.

The Heart-a Den of Evil
The human heart is the source of all sin, and only God’s grace can cleanse and renew it.
We have read your cry with heavy hearts and we hear the depth of pain, heaviness and feeling forsaken that you are carrying. We grieve with you over the hurt from abusers, over blocked opportunities and education, over feeling surrounded by condemners on the right hand and on the left, and over the despair that has led you to say death would have been profitable. Please know your life is precious to God and to us, and we do not want you to remain alone in this darkness. If these thoughts of death grow stronger, we urge you to reach out immediately to a trusted pastor, a godly counselor, or someone near you who can stay with you and help you, for God has not finished His purpose for you.

We must also speak truth in love about what you have said concerning God, because we love you and we want you to know Him as He truly is. You have felt that He has deceived you, misled you, failed you and forsaken you, that He made a mistake and used you to correct it, and that He has not honored what He said. Scripture tells us this is not the character of our God. God is not a man, that he should lie, nor the son of man, that he should repent, Numbers 23:19, and it is impossible for God to lie, Titus 1:2. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted by God, for God cannot be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one, James 1:13. He does not author evil or abuse, and He does not delight in the oppression of His children. He makes no mistakes, for His counsel stands and He does all His pleasure, Isaiah 46:10. When we feel forsaken, His promise remains, Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or scared of them; for Yahweh your God himself is who goes with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you, Deuteronomy 31:6, and again, I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you, Hebrews 13:5. Even when we feel unheard, Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit, Psalm 34:18, and He invites us to cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you, Psalm 55:22. Your help does come from Him, My help comes from Yahweh, who made heaven and earth, Psalm 121:2.

We also notice you speak of sin and evil overtaking you and of things forgiven being used against you. We know the enemy accuses and abusers twist what God has forgiven, but God does not use forgiven sin to fight against His child. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, 1 John 1:9. What He forgives He removes from us as far as the east is from the west, Psalm 103:12, and He does not apportion His children with the unrighteous arbitrarily, for He is just and will judge righteously. Vengeance belongs to Him, He will repay, Romans 12:19, and He executes justice for the oppressed, Psalm 103:6. He sees the hearts of those who harmed you and blocked you, and He will not let injustice stand forever. We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose, Romans 8:28, not that all things are good, but that even in a season like COVID and in the pain over land and blessing and disgrace, He can redeem what others meant for evil.

You said you never asked to come into this life and you do not know where help will come from. We understand that feeling of weariness, yet we believe you were knit together with purpose, for you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother's womb, Psalm 139:13, and His thoughts toward you are for peace and not for evil, to give you hope and a future, Jeremiah 29:11. Death is not profitable when God still has purpose for you, for your life is not your own to take, you were bought with a price, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, and God desires that you live and seek Him.

We also want to gently address that your prayer does not mention the name of Jesus Christ. This matters deeply because it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6, and there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved, Romans 10:9. It is through Jesus that your sins are truly forgiven, your prayers are heard, and your hope is secured, and we urge you to call upon Him now.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, asking for mercy and help for this precious one who feels overtaken by sin and evil, surrounded by condemners and abusers, blocked and wearied and feeling deceived and forsaken. Lord, forgive where sin has taken hold and cleanse and restore through the blood of Jesus, and break the power of evil that has oppressed. You know the hearts of those who have harmed and blocked and made this one the reason for their heaviness, and we ask You to bring justice, protection, and deliverance, and to sustain where it feels You have not sustained. Lift the burden of heaviness and give beauty for ashes. Correct the false view that You lie or fail or forsake, and reveal Yourself as faithful, true, and near to the brokenhearted, for You have said Fear not, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you, Isaiah 41:10. Show that You hear this voice, that You have not apportioned this life with the unrighteous, and that You have a purpose still, plans for welfare and hope. Draw this one to Jesus, that by calling on His name there may be salvation, access, and peace, and guard from thoughts of death, giving strength to live and hope for tomorrow. Let help come from You and through Your people who will walk alongside. We ask this in Jesus name, amen.

We encourage you to keep bringing your honest pain to Him, for He can handle your questions, yet also to ask Him to renew your mind with His truth, to stay in His Word daily, and to not walk alone but to seek fellowship with believers who can pray with you, counsel you, and help you with practical needs like education and healing from abuse. God has not failed you, He has not forsaken you, and He does hear you when you call through Jesus. We are praying that you will experience His sustaining hand, His justice, and His redeeming blessing even over land and places that now feel like disgrace, for He is able to make what was meant for harm to be turned for good as you trust Him.

We read your prayer and thank you for sharing so honestly with us. What you described sounds like carrying a very heavy weight for a long time, feeling surrounded on every side, blocked in what you hoped for, and hurt by people who should have protected you. It makes sense that God would feel far away or even against you right now.

When abuse and disappointment have been part of our story, especially from a young age, it can shape how we experience God. The pain we learned from people can quietly become what we expect from Him, even though He is not like those who harmed us. It does not mean your hurt is not real, it means your hurt deserves gentle, steady care.

We want to walk with you in prayer, and we also do not want you to carry this alone. If you have a safe pastor, counselor, or trusted person in your life, we encourage you to let one person hear more of what you are going through in person. If abuse is ongoing or you feel unsafe, please reach out for support nearby. Talking with someone who can listen without rushing you can be an important next step alongside prayer.

Father, we lift this dear one to You in Jesus name. You see the wounds, the disappointments, and the exhaustion underneath these words. We ask You to draw near with Your presence, to bring safety and care through trustworthy people, and to give wisdom for each next step. Bring healing where there has been harm, and help them to know they are seen and not forsaken. Lead them gently in Your love and truth. In Jesus name, amen.

There is a cry in your words which has been heard, and it is a very bitter cry, as of one who feels himself forsaken and cast away. You speak as one who has drifted into the nowhere, into the region behind the back of God, and you say that He has failed you and forgotten you. Let us deal honestly before Him, for He is light essentially, and it is not possible for His nature to be affected by either impurity or error. Everything is true in God, and everything is seen in its reality by His all discerning eye. Because He is light, He deals with things in the light, treating them as they are. If God is to deal graciously with us, we must each one stand in the light, and present ourselves before Him as we are.

You have said that sin and evil have overtaken you, and in this you have spoken truth which many will not speak. We are constantly erring, first on this side and then on that, for there is darkness in us. Outward religiousness unattended by heart piety does a man serious injury, by rendering him superficial and unreal in all that he does in reference to God, and as God desires truth in the inward parts He will not parley with dishonest men. The right prayer for such a state is this, Cleanse thou me from secret faults, thou desirest truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden parts thou wilt make me to know wisdom, purge me therefore O Lord and I shall be clean. Do not hide your sin, nor yet lay upon God the blame for it. Low thoughts of God create doubts of pardon and doubt holds us in bondage under sin, but high thoughts of God beget hope in the soul.

You have laid to the charge of God that He has deceived you and misled you, that He has made a mistake and needs to repent, and that He has set abusers and condemners against you and made your enemies your judges. Hear the truth concerning Him. God cannot deceive, for He is light and in Him is no darkness at all. He cannot fail nor forsake in the sense you fear, and He has no mistake to correct, for His counsel stands fast forever. What you have felt so keenly as opposition and heaviness and blocked paths, He knows, and He knows the hearts of those who have wronged you. Yet in the sight of God there is a line, narrow but most sure, which divides the living from the dead, the believing from the unbelieving. He is not the author of evil, though He may suffer the plowing of the plowers to go long and deep. In the East the oxen are fastened to the plow by a long cord, and they plow and plow, but what does God do in the middle of their plowing, He cuts the cord. He will not suffer His own to be destroyed.

You say, You will not hear me, and perhaps You have apportioned me with the unrighteous. You say, I do not know where help will come from, for You have forsaken me. This is the dolorous lament from the lowest pit of misery, My God, my God, why have You forsaken me. Our Lord Himself trod that winepress and reached the culminating point of anguish, and He was sinless and trustful and yet He had an overpowering feeling that God was absent from Him. God was for Him and with Him in a certain unquestionable sense, but for the time, so far as His feelings went, God was against Him and necessarily withdrawn from Him, that He might bear the separation which is spiritual death. He was forsaken that you might never be forsaken. Therefore if God has left you, or you think so, do not give up prayer. No, pray as your Lord did and be more earnest than ever. If you think God has forsaken you, do not give up your faith in Him, but like your Lord cry, My God, my God, again and again.

You speak of death as profitable and of hope being lost. This is an evil word which goes beyond the truth of God. Our hope is not lost, for God is the sinners hope and He is not lost, so that the word of despair is not warranted. It is a crime against the truth of God, a high offense against the Lord of love. God is the God of hope, and those who are without hope are also without God. No mortal has a just pretense to perish in despair and if he does so despair is a form of willful self destruction. Despair has something in it of sinning against the Holy Spirit, for the Holy Spirit brings you rich cordials in the promises of God which will raise your spirits and will restore you from death. Hopelessness in self is what we want to bring you to, but hopelessness in itself and especially in connection with God would be a sin from which we would urge you to escape.

You say, if You will repent and relent, You have heard my voice. The truth stands the other way. God calls you to repent and to relent from hard thoughts of Him. Repentance does not save, it is the work of God and the work of God alone, but God grants pardon when men are humbled. He that believes in Him, though he were dead, yet shall he live, and whoever lives and believes in Him shall never die. From a pardoning God there are such mercies and such blessings to be received that we who have little faith and are weak in heart suddenly find our spirits revive. There is forgiveness with Him through the matchless atonement which covers all guilt, by which sin is no longer imputed to those who exercise faith upon it.

Hear then the Lords answer to Zions lament, Jehovah has forsaken me and my Lord has forgotten me. He answers, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands. Though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God. This assurance is secured beyond all question. Let not your heart be troubled, you believe in God, believe also in Christ, for all the character of God is seen in the Christ of God, and he who truly comes to Christ has really come to the Father. It is by faith that we receive the forgiveness of our sins. Faith has to do with the past, with what Christ has accomplished, but hope looks forward to the future and hope comes to us and is strengthened in us by the patience and the comfort of the Scriptures.

Therefore talk to your own soul as the psalmist did, Why are you cast down O my soul and why are you disquieted within me, hope you in God for I shall yet praise Him who is the health of my countenance and my God. Seek Him now in truth, confess your sin, trust not in water nor in priestly hands nor in any outward form, for there must be some congruity between the means and the result, but trust in Jesus Christ alone who was crucified in weakness that by that weakness He might redeem your soul. He will preserve the true believer from the malaria of corruption which is in the world through lust, and keep him by the power of God through faith unto salvation.

May the God of patience and comfort fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope through the power of the Holy Spirit, and may you find that though you have been persecuted you are not forsaken, though cast down you are not destroyed.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your words have been heard, and the heaviness and pain in them is plain. You have spoken openly before God about feeling surrounded, opposed, blocked in life, hurt by those who should have helped you, and disappointed that what you hoped for has not come to pass. It is right to bring such sorrow into the light before Him, for He already knows the heart and He hears those who cry to Him.

Yet some of what you have said about God is not true of Him, and it must be answered gently and clearly so that you are not left without hope. God has not deceived you and He does not mislead. He does not make mistakes that need correcting, and He has not failed or forsaken those who seek Him. We often are wrong in our expectations and miss what we thought would happen, but Scripture teaches that God permits trials for our discipline and training, not for our defeat. To be pursued is not to be forsaken. To be struck down is not to be destroyed. These hard things happen, but by the power and grace of God they need not have the final word over you.

You said He has not sustained you and will not hear you. The truth is that His grace is sufficient, and His ear is open. It is God who justifies, and Christ who died for sinners and now intercedes for them. If the Judge Himself declares righteous those who trust in His Son, then the accuser has no final claim. Even when others condemn you or set themselves as judges over you, God remains the true Judge, and He does not apportion His people with the unrighteous when they turn to Him in repentance and faith.

You spoke of things forgiven being used against you, and of being made the reason for another person's heaviness. God does not reproach us with the past when we return to Him. When we come back to Him with an earnest heart, He remembers our former sins no more. He does not hold forgiven things over us. People may do so, but God does not.

You also said you never asked to come into this life, and that death would have been profitable. Every life is given by God, and He has ordained that the soul clings to the body for a purpose. He does not desire violent or despairing death. Even when the will is firm to follow Him, nature feels the tearing of death, and He has made it so to guard us from rushing toward it in discouragement. Your life has value because He gave it, and because Christ gave His life so that you might have life indeed. Death working in our trials is meant to lead us to look for life from Him who raises the dead.

You said if He will repent, He has heard you. Scripture calls us to repent, not Him. He is without fault and without change in His goodness. He calls you to turn to Him, to confess sin where sin has overtaken you, and to receive the forgiveness and righteousness that comes only through Jesus Christ. There is no other salvation, and there is no true blessing apart from Him. Land, education, and the favor of people cannot give what Christ alone gives. If your hope was set on those things and they became a disgrace in your eyes, hear again that patience in trial produces proven character, and proven character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame because of His love poured out through Christ.

Therefore do not let your soul remain like a sea tossed by a storm. There is a harbor free from disturbance for those who practice self control and entrust themselves to God. That harbor is not found in demanding that God fulfill our expectations on our terms, but in yielding to His will as clay in the hand of the potter, praying continually, giving thanks whether the answer comes quickly or slowly, and trusting that He will make your crown more radiant through what you have endured, not abandon you in it.

We will pray for you now, not that God would affirm what is wrong, but that He would do what is right and merciful. We ask Him to have mercy upon you, to forgive your sins through the blood of Jesus, to lift the weight of evil and abuse that has pressed on you, to give you a clear mind and a steadied heart, to provide for your needs and guide your steps, to heal what has been broken and to bring trustworthy help beside you, and to let you know that you are heard and sustained by His grace. We ask Him to draw you to repentance where repentance is needed, to faith where faith is needed, and to hope that will not fail.

If these thoughts of death press heavily, please do not remain alone with them. Reach out to a pastor or a trusted believer near you, and to someone who can care for you in person, and let them know the depth of what you carry so they can walk with you and help you seek the Lord day by day.

Your honesty before God has been heard, and the weight of what you have carried is not hidden from Him. The words you prayed echo the deepest lament in Scripture, when a man looked at ruin all around him and said, I am the man who has seen affliction. He described exactly what you describe, that God had set terrors round about him, that none escaped, that God had slain and not pitied in the day of His anger. He began from hopelessness, and hopelessness is the root of that heavy depression you name. When a person can see no way out, when it feels that God is not listening and not sustaining, the heart sinks into despair.

That same lament shows the turn that God invites you to take. In the middle of that total despair the prophet said, this I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope. We can think ourselves into despair by rehearsing only the wounds, the people set against us on the right hand and on the left, the things forgiven being thrown back at us, the doors that were blocked. Or by setting our mind upon the Lord and renewing our mind in Him, we can come into hope again. Not because circumstances change instantly, but because God Himself does not change.

You feel that God has deceived you, failed you, and forsaken you, that He has not kept what He said. Scripture gives the opposite testimony about Him. When God warns of judgment, He keeps His word, and when Babylon came against Jerusalem after forty years of warning, the prophet looked and saw the faithfulness of God to His word, even in judgment. And yet that same God declares He will not cast off forever. Though a people turn their backs on Him and He for a time turns His back, His compassions do not fail. His mercies are new every morning, great is His faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22 and 23 says, It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning.

God is not a man that He should lie, and when He makes a promise He confirms it by swearing by Himself, because there is no higher authority. What He has promised in Christ He will do. If you have felt that a promise of land or blessing has become a disgrace, remember that God's ultimate promise is not a piece of ground alone but Himself, and His oath is sure. People will look at desolation and ask why the Lord has done this, and the answer Scripture gives is that when people forsake His covenant and serve other things, desolation follows. But the way back is not to accuse God of deceiving, but to return to His covenant of grace.

You spoke of sin and evil overtaking you, and of being apportioned with the unrighteous. The law was never given to make a person righteous. If righteousness could come by keeping the law, Christ died for nothing. The law was given to show us our guilt, to make sin appear exceeding sinful, so that we would stop trusting in our own works and cast ourselves upon the grace of God offered through Jesus Christ. You cannot become righteous before God by your efforts. You stand before Him only by faith in what Jesus has done.

That is why the wonder of the gospel matters for your exact pain. Jesus, who is the brightness of God's glory and upholds all things by the word of His power, was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, that He by the grace of God should taste death for every man. On the cross He was forsaken so that you would not have to be forsaken. He purged our sins by Himself so that we could have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand. Romans 5 says by grace we have access, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

You feel limited, blocked, judged by enemies, and that God has allowed abusers to speak over you. God does allow evil for a time, and Scripture says He is vexed by that evil. In all our afflictions He is afflicted. He is not cruel like men can be. Even His prophets are not always as compassionate as He is. He does not delight in crushing. And while God is almighty, Scripture says His people can limit what He desires to do for them by unbelief, by not trusting His salvation. That does not mean you control Him, but it means the blessing He longs to pour out is received by believing Him and trusting Him.

You said you never asked to come into this life, and that death would have been profitable. God knows that heaviness, that agitation and despondency that can come from spiritual warfare around us. The enemy whispers, does God see, does God know, has God forgotten. But God has not forgotten. He demonstrated His power to bring His people out, to lead them, to give them His Spirit, and He has done far more in giving His Son. If He gave His Son, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things we need day by day.

You ended by saying, if You will repent and relent, You have heard my voice. God does hear. He calls you to turn to Him, not to remain in accusation against Him, but to let Him be your hope. Do not let the heaviness convince you that you are forsaken. Look again at the Lord. Recall to your mind His mercies, His compassion, His grace in Christ. Confess your need of Jesus alone for salvation, for He alone can save, and ask Him to govern your life. The name Israel means governed by God, no longer governed by our own skill and striving. That is the exchange He offers, to take you from being driven by wounds and by those who have opposed you, to being led by His hand.

Pray with me in this direction. Father, have mercy on this wounded heart. Forgive sin and cleanse through the blood of Jesus Christ. Reveal Yourself as faithful and compassionate, not deceiving. Renew this mind to hope in You. Lift the heaviness and set these feet on Your grace. Let this life know that You have not cast off forever, that Your mercies are new every morning, and that in Jesus there is forgiveness, sustaining, and a future. Teach this heart to trust Your salvation and to walk governed by You. In Jesus name, amen.
