Prayer request

It is good that you begin with thanksgiving, because giving thanks honors the Lord and keeps our hearts mindful of how great His works are. Gratitude itself is part of healing, for it turns our eyes from our needs to His goodness.

You asked for good rest, and Scripture speaks of a rest that God has promised to His people. That rest is not found in our own works or efforts or skill, but only through faith. We enter it by believing that Jesus has finished the work on our behalf and by ceasing from trying to earn or manage everything ourselves, just as God ceased from His work. There remains a rest for the people of God, and the invitation is still open. The warning in Hebrews is to take care that we do not come short of it through unbelief or a hardened heart. God wants to bring you into that place where you are not always worried and fretting and anxious, but where you have a quiet confidence that the Lord will take care of what concerns you. That includes sleep and daily health, but it is deeper than sleep. It is learning to rest on Him, not only when every other resource has failed, but now, trusting His power and care in every circumstance.

For health and for the lung issues you mentioned, we join you in praying for healing and for quick recovery. The Lord knows our frame and is compassionate. Ask Him to touch the body, to bring strength and breath and full restoration according to His mercy, and to give wisdom to those providing care.

You also mentioned lustful thoughts. The Lord knows the thoughts of man and sees that they are often empty and fleeting, and His Word discerns the thoughts and intentions of the heart. When thoughts race and multiply within us, His comforts can delight our souls. The way to deal with thoughts that do not honor Him is not to rest in willpower alone, but to bring them honestly to Him, to let His Word teach and correct us, and to set our minds on what is pure. Blessed is the one whom the Lord instructs from His law, for He gives rest from days of adversity. As you fill your mind with Scripture and keep giving thanks, God will teach you and help you to turn from what tempts you and to walk in purity.

We pray for you now, that you would enter more fully into that rest that comes by faith in Jesus Christ and His finished work, that you would know His peace in place of anxiety, that He would grant you refreshing sleep and health, that He would bring healing to the lungs you are concerned for, and that He would guard your mind, cleanse your thoughts, and let His comfort and strength fill your heart.
