Prayer request

Beloved of All
Dear Lord, thank you for your goodness. I pray for good rest, for ###’s health, for my ###, for healing for ## for their lung issues and quick healing, and against lustful thoughts

We join you in thanking the Lord for His goodness, for He is good and His loving kindness endures forever. We lift up your requests together before the Father in Jesus' name.

We pray for good rest for you, that the Lord would grant you peaceful sleep and renewal. It is written, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest, Matthew 11:28, and also, I will both lay myself down and sleep in peace, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety, Psalm 4:8. We ask that He would quiet your mind and body and let you wake refreshed for His purposes.

We also bring before the Lord the health needs you mentioned, your loved ones and the one suffering with lung issues. We pray for healing and quick recovery according to His will and mercy. We remember that He forgives all our iniquities and heals all our diseases, Psalm 103:3, and that He has promised, I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh, Jeremiah 30:17. We ask for the Lord's healing hand upon those lungs, for clear breathing, strength, and for wisdom for any who are providing care.

We also want to address with love and truth your request for help against lustful thoughts. We know this is a battle many face, and we commend you for bringing it into the light and seeking prayer. Scripture is clear that lustful thoughts are not harmless, for Jesus said, everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart, Matthew 5:28. We are called to flee sexual immorality, 1 Corinthians 6:18, and to flee youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, 2 Timothy 2:22. God has provided sexual intimacy as a good gift to be enjoyed only within the lifelong marriage covenant between a man and a woman, and outside of that, lust and fornication are sin that damages our fellowship with God and with others. We encourage you to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, 2 Corinthians 10:5, and to fix your mind on whatever is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely and of good report, Philippians 4:8. When temptation comes, remember that God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it, 1 Corinthians 10:13. We pray that the Lord would create in you a clean heart and renew a right spirit within you, Psalm 51:10, and fill your mind with His Word and His Spirit so that purity grows.

We noticed you prayed to the Lord but did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6, and there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. It is because Jesus died for our sins and rose again that we can come boldly to God in prayer and receive forgiveness for all sin, including lust, when we confess and repent and put our faith in Him.

We pray together now. Father, we thank You for Your goodness and mercy toward us. We thank You for Your care for our bodies and souls. We ask in the name of Jesus Christ that You would grant good and peaceful rest, that You would touch our loved ones with Your healing power, especially the one with lung issues, and bring quick and complete healing as You will. Forgive us for lustful thoughts and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Help us to flee from temptation, to turn our eyes from worthless things, and to walk in purity and holiness before You. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit and Your Word, that our minds may be renewed. We trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ alone for our salvation and access to Your throne. Lead us to pursue relationships and marriage according to Your design, in holiness and honor. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

Thank you for sharing what is on your heart and for starting with thankfulness. We hear how tired you must be wanting good rest, and how much you care for the people you named, especially the one facing lung issues, and your own desire to walk cleanly before the Lord.

We are joining you in prayer for each of these. For the lung concerns we will keep asking God for healing and comfort, and we also encourage you to make sure they are getting good medical care alongside prayer, staying in close touch with their doctor and following their guidance.

For rest and for the battle with lustful thoughts, it can help to have a simple plan to turn to the Lord quickly in the moment and to have one trusted, mature believer you can be honest with when those thoughts come. Bringing it into the light often takes away some of its power and gives you support to keep choosing what honors God.

We are grateful for your heart to seek Him in all of this.

Father, thank You for Your goodness to us. We ask for restful sleep, for health and strength, and for Your healing touch on our friend with lung trouble. Give wisdom to their caregivers and peace to all who love them. Help our brother to walk in purity and know Your grace and strength each day. We trust all of this to Your loving care in Jesus' name, amen.

Your thanksgiving for the goodness of the Lord is itself a grace, and we join you in it with a grateful heart, for every good gift cometh from the Father of lights.

We have heard your prayer for rest, and we pray with you that you may know the rest which our Lord Jesus gives. He saith, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. This is a present rest, rest now, not only rest after death, but rest given when we come to Jesus, given there and then. And there is also the rest which is found in learning of Him and taking His yoke upon us. True rest to the child of God is rest on the wing, rest in motion, rest in service, with the yoke on, learning to be meek and lowly in heart as Christ is. May the Lord teach you to trust Him more fully, for trust and you shall rest, and may He grant you that deep, abiding rest of soul, and also the needful rest of the body which He knoweth you require. There remaineth also a perfect rest for the people of God hereafter, where labour and sorrow are no more, and we pray that the hope of that eternal rest may sweeten your present trials.

For those you have named who are in need of health, and especially for the one who suffers with lung issues, we bring earnest prayer to the great Physician. The leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing. His fruit is sweet and nourishing, and His leaves are full of healing virtue to change the life blood and make the nature new. When the Sun of Righteousness riseth with healing in His wings, pardon and healing are as one in His hand. We pray that the Lord will lay His healing hand upon these lungs, that He will restore breath and strength, and grant quick healing according to His wise and merciful will. We pray also for the health of your loved ones, that God would preserve them and keep them by His power, and that you may commit them daily to Him who is able to heal and to keep.

Concerning lustful thoughts, you have prayed well, for our Lord Himself taught us to pray, Lead us not into temptation. Temptation in itself is perilous, and the wise heart doth not desire to be tried, but prayeth to be spared from too great trials and to be kept from the mischief of them. We pray with you that God would not lead you into temptation, but would keep you by His power through faith, and preserve you from the corruption which is in the world through lust. Remember that the man who prays Lead us not into temptation and then goes into it speaketh not truly before God. Therefore watch and pray, turn the eye from vanity, keep out of the way of temptation, and look unto Jesus Christ for all things, who is alive and is our familiar Friend. When such thoughts arise, look at once to Him, confess them, and ask for the cleansing blood and the renewing Spirit, that you may stand fast and not stain your garments.

We pray for you now, that the God of all grace would give you rest in Christ, heal those who are sick among you, and keep your mind in perfect peace stayed upon Him. May He forgive your sins, heal your infirmities, and lead you in the path of holiness for His name's sake. Amen.
