Prayer request

Thankfulness is the right place for all of this to begin, because remembering God's goodness softens the heart toward him. The good rest you are asking for will not finally come from controlling your circumstances or silencing every worry by sheer effort. Rest is entered by faith in Jesus, who finished the work we could never finish. There remains a rest for the people of God, and it is received by believing him, not by trying to make ourselves peaceful.

As you pray for the health of the person on your heart and for healing for the one you mentioned, keep asking with confidence. God cares about the body. Yet he does not promise to remove every affliction in this life. The apostle Paul prayed three times for a thorn to be taken and received grace to endure it instead. So ask boldly, but let your deepest hope be fixed on the healing that cannot be lost: the forgiveness of sins through Christ. That is the greatest miracle, and it is yours in him.

About the lustful thoughts, the Lord already knows them. He knows every thought and every motive, including the ones you would rather hide. That knowledge is not meant to drive you away in shame; it is meant to bring you to the light. His Word discerns the thoughts and intentions of the heart, so bring those thoughts openly before him in confession. Do not try to defeat them only by determination, because striving in your own strength will not produce rest or lasting purity. Turn to Jesus in faith. Ask him to cleanse your mind and to replace empty and wandering imaginations with what is true, pure, and good. Treat lust as sin, but fight it from the finished work of Christ, not as if your acceptance with God depends on how well you perform.

May the Lord give you sleep and health in his wisdom, and may he lead you into the deeper rest of trust in him. Keep thanking him as you go, because gratitude is one of the ways faith learns to rest.
