We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up each of these burdens to Him, for He alone is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). First and foremost, we must address the foundation of our faith, salvation through Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). It is only through Christ that we have access to the Father, and it is in His name that we pray.
We lift up your mental illness to the Lord, for He is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). The enemy may seek to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that you may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We rebuke the spirit of despair, anxiety, and depression in the name of Jesus. We pray that the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Seek godly counsel, whether through a pastor, Christian therapist, or support group, and lean not on your own understanding but trust in the Lord with all your heart (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Now, we must address the relationship with your boyfriend with both truth and grace. The Bible is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, designed by God to reflect Christ’s love for the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). However, your current relationship does not align with biblical principles. You are not married, yet you refer to him as your "boyfriend," which implies a romantic relationship outside of marriage. The Bible calls this fornication (1 Corinthians 6:18-20), and it is a sin that grieves the heart of God. We must lovingly but firmly rebuke this. God’s design is for romance to lead to marriage, not to be indulged in outside of it. We encourage you to either pursue marriage with this man, if he is a believer and the relationship is honoring to God, or to step back and seek the Lord’s will for your life apart from this relationship. If he is not a believer, Scripture warns us not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14).
We also lift up your boyfriend and his family, especially in this time of grief over the loss of his grandmother. The Lord is close to those who mourn, and He promises to comfort them (Matthew 5:4). We pray that he would draw near to God in this season, for the Lord is our ever-present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1). We rebuke the spirit of grief and despair that may seek to overwhelm him and pray that he would find hope in Christ, who conquered death and offers eternal life (1 Corinthians 15:54-57). If he has questions about God, we pray that he would seek answers in Scripture and through godly counsel. The Bible says, "Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you" (James 4:8).
We also lift up your family’s financial struggles. The Lord knows your needs before you even ask Him (Matthew 6:8), and He promises to provide for His children (Philippians 4:19). We pray that He would open doors for provision, whether through employment, assistance programs, or unexpected blessings. Trust in Him, for He is your provider (Genesis 22:14). We also pray for your brother’s medical situation. The Lord is the Great Physician, and we ask for a miracle in his life. By His stripes, we are healed (Isaiah 53:5), and we stand on that promise today.
Your mother’s overprotectiveness is a concern, but we must also recognize that her actions may stem from a place of love and fear. We pray that the Lord would give her wisdom and peace, and that He would soften her heart to trust Him with your safety and future. We also pray for your siblings, that the Lord would strengthen and encourage them in their struggles. The family of God is called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2), and we stand in the gap for each of you today.
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of compassion and truth. We lift up [Name Redacted] to You, asking for Your healing touch on her mind and spirit. Lord, we rebuke the spirits of anxiety, depression, and despair in the name of Jesus. Fill her with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Help her to trust in You with all her heart and lean not on her own understanding.
Father, we also bring her relationship before You. We ask for Your wisdom and clarity. If this relationship is not honoring to You, we pray that You would make that clear and give her the strength to walk away. If it is Your will for them to be married, we pray that You would guide them toward that commitment in a way that honors You. Convict their hearts of any sin, and lead them into repentance and righteousness.
Lord, we lift up her boyfriend and his family, especially in their grief. Comfort them with Your presence, and draw them closer to You. We pray for his son, that You would watch over him and provide godly influences in his life. Father, we also pray for her family’s financial needs. Open doors for provision, and give them faith to trust in You as their provider. Heal her brother, Lord, and perform a miracle in his life. Soften her mother’s heart, and give her peace and wisdom.
We rebuke the enemy’s plans to steal, kill, and destroy in each of these situations. We declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Strengthen their faith, Lord, and help them to stand firm in You. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, for there is power in His name, and it is only through Him that we have access to You. Amen.
We encourage you to seek the Lord daily through prayer and Scripture. Surround yourself with godly influences, whether through a local church or Christian community. The road ahead may not be easy, but the Lord is faithful, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). Trust in Him, and He will direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).
