Prayer request

The anguish of this sudden accident, at the very hour when life was to spring forth, must not be met with despair. Consider how our Lord Himself spoke of the pangs of childbirth, likening them to the sorrows of His disciples before the Resurrection. The pain is sharp, but it is the herald of a joy so full that the mother no longer remembers the anguish, because a human being has been born into the world. This present trouble is like that birth pang. Though the journey was interrupted by calamity, do not let faith be interrupted. God can bring the mother and child safely through, and what seems now a chaos of fear may yet yield a harvest of gratitude.

Prayer is our mighty weapon, and never more needed than now. We will lift up your sister in law with all earnestness, just as the Church prayed without ceasing for Peter, and he was delivered. Yet I would not have you rely on our prayers alone, as if you yourself had no need to be vigilant. The prayer of the righteous avails much, but only when they who ask are also themselves striving with God. If you have any root of bitterness or unreconciled quarrel in your heart, cast it out speedily. Bring your own sacrifice of prayer, but first be at peace with your brother, lest your gift be rejected. Too many seek the prayers of the saints while their own hands are slack and their souls entangled. Wake, then, and plead for her yourself, and let your own life become a prayer.

Why did our Lord, who had only to command the dead to rise, yet pray at the tomb of Lazarus? Not from any weakness, but to show that His will and the Father’s are one, and to teach us who are slow to believe. He condescended to the form of prayer for the sake of the weak. So now, when we pray in the face of this accident, we do not inform God of something He does not know, nor bend a reluctant will. We cling to His promise and exercise our trust. Commend the sufferer to the grace of God, and know that even if her hour is filled with agony, the Lord who loosed the pangs of death can make this the gateway to a double blessing. The Church will join you in crying out, and we will trust that He who hears always will show His mercy for the sake of His love, bringing consolation out of terror, and life where darkness threatened.

What a frightening moment this must be for your family. I am praying for your sister-in-law right now, for her safety, for the precious child she is carrying, and for swift, skilled help to reach her in the midst of this accident. These are the moments when our hearts feel completely helpless, and yet Scripture reminds us that God often writes His most tender mercies in the very places that seem most impossible.

Think of the infant who was placed in a little basket and set among the reeds of a river. His mother was not being careless; she was entrusting her child to the only provision that could preserve him, waterproofing that basket with care while obeying the very decree that threatened his life. What looked like a tragedy waiting to happen was, in God’s unseen purpose, the cradle of deliverance. The baby’s sister stood at a distance, watching, unable to intervene, but she was not alone. The Lord’s eyes never left that basket. Your prayers now are like that quiet vigil. You cannot physically change anything, yet God still sees, and He is not distant from the scene of this accident.

We need to hold fast to this truth: the Father knows the lives of both mother and child completely. He has already invested His love in them, and His foreknowledge is not a passive record but the firm ground of our hope. Even when it feels like the law of sin and death is warring against everything we cherish, we are not under condemnation. In Christ, we have been brought under grace. The blood of the true Passover Lamb is upon the doorposts of our lives. To abide inside that safety is not about perfect performance; it is simply remaining in Him, refusing to let fear drag our hearts out into the night. Right now, the safest place for your sister-in-law and her baby is to be hidden in the care of Jesus, and we can trust that He will not abandon them.

I also pray that God would strengthen the very resolve of your faith in these hours. Just as He can stiffen the position of a heart that is set on His purposes, He can anchor you now so that you do not drift into despair. He can make your trust firm, even when the news is uncertain. Do not surrender to panic. Do not let worry become the one voice you listen to. Stay close to the promises, and let them be the staff in your hand as you walk through this.

May the Lord surround every paramedic, doctor, and nurse who attends her with wisdom and speed. May He hold that little life securely, and may the delivery itself become a testimony of His goodness despite the terror of the accident. I ask that both mother and child be preserved safe and whole, and that your family would soon celebrate a birth that proclaims God’s faithfulness. In Jesus’ name.

We are so grateful you entrusted us with the privilege of lifting your sister-in-law before the Lord in this critical moment. Our hearts stood with you in fervent prayer as she made her way to the hospital, asking God to surround her with His peace, protection, and perfect timing. We prayed for strength for her, wisdom for the medical team, and comfort for all who waited with love and concern.

If God has already moved in this situation—if your sister-in-law and the baby are safe and well—we would be overjoyed to hear your praise report! Please share the good news so we can join you in thanking our Heavenly Father for His faithfulness.

If the outcome is still uncertain or if there are new concerns, we invite you to post this request again so we may continue standing with you in prayer. We believe in a God who hears, who cares, and who is able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine.

May the Lord bless you and your family with His presence, His hope, and His peace as you trust in Him. We continue to pray in Jesus’ Name.
