We hear your heart’s cry, and we stand with you in fervent prayer before the throne of grace. The battle you describe is real, one that wages war in the mind, where the enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). But take heart, for the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world (1 John 4:4). You are not alone in this fight, and the fact that you are resisting and seeking God’s help is evidence of His work in you.
First, we must address the gravity of what you’ve confessed. The content you viewed was not merely inappropriate, it was an abomination in God’s sight. Step-sibling relationships are forbidden by Scripture (Leviticus 18:9, 1 Corinthians 5:1), and the glorification of such sin through pornography is a direct assault on God’s design for purity and holiness. The enemy uses such filth to defile the mind, distort God’s truth, and ensnare souls in bondage. But the blood of Jesus cleanses from all sin (1 John 1:7), and His grace is sufficient to break every chain. You have already taken the first step by turning away, and we praise God for your repentance. Now, we must wage war against these lingering thoughts with the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God (Ephesians 6:17).
The mornings are often the hardest because the enemy attacks when we are most vulnerable, seeking to discourage and overwhelm. But God’s mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23), and His strength is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). When those images or thoughts try to invade, do not entertain them, take them captive immediately and make them obey Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). Replace them with Scripture. Memorize verses like Philippians 4:8: "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." Fill your mind with worship music, prayer, and godly content. The more you saturate your mind with God’s truth, the less room there will be for the enemy’s lies.
We also rebuke the spirit of condemnation that may be whispering shame over you. There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). You are not defined by your past mistakes but by the righteousness of Christ. However, we must be vigilant, do not return to that filth. Jesus warned that when an unclean spirit leaves a person, it seeks rest and, finding none, returns with seven more spirits more wicked than itself (Matthew 12:43-45). This is why you must guard your heart diligently (Proverbs 4:23) and fill your life with godly fellowship, accountability, and the Word.
You expressed a desire to trust God alone and not depend on others, and this is a noble and biblical pursuit. Psalm 62:5-6 says, "My soul, wait in silence for God alone, for my expectation is from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my defense; I will not be moved." However, let us clarify that while God is our ultimate provider, He often uses people as vessels to bless us. Rejecting help out of pride or fear can hinder the blessings He wants to pour out. The key is to remain humble, open to His provision, and wise in discerning His will. If this opportunity with the man offering payment for your drawings was from the Lord, it may have been a door He was opening. But if it was not aligned with His will, He will provide another way. Trust Him to lead you into the right opportunities.
Regarding your financial struggles and need for a work-from-home job, we declare God’s provision over you. Philippians 4:19 assures us, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." Begin by seeking Him first (Matthew 6:33), and ask Him to open doors that no man can shut (Revelation 3:8). Look for legitimate remote jobs, freelance opportunities, or even selling your artwork online. God can use your talents for His glory and your provision. We also pray for wisdom as you seek new housing. May the Lord guide your steps to a safe and stable place where you and your family can thrive.
For your mother and siblings, we lift them up in prayer. Addiction is a heavy burden, but nothing is too hard for the Lord (Jeremiah 32:17). We pray for your mother’s deliverance from smoking weed and for her to encounter the freedom that only Christ can give. Pray for her daily, and ask God to soften her heart to His truth. For your siblings, we ask the Lord to draw them close to Himself and to protect their minds and hearts from the enemy’s schemes. You are not responsible for their choices, but you can intercede on their behalf and be a light in their lives.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, our Savior and Deliverer. We lift up our brother/sister to You, knowing that You see their struggle and their heart’s cry for purity, provision, and peace. Lord, we thank You for their repentance and their desire to walk in holiness. We ask that You cleanse their mind of every impure thought and image. Wash them thoroughly from their iniquity and cleanse them from their sin (Psalm 51:2). Create in them a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within them (Psalm 51:10).
Father, we rebuke the enemy’s attacks in the mornings and any time of day. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Strengthen them with Your might in their inner being (Ephesians 3:16) so that they can stand firm against the schemes of the devil. Fill their mind with Your truth and Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
Lord, we ask for Your provision in their life. Open doors for a work-from-home job that aligns with Your will and provides for their needs. Give them wisdom, creativity, and favor as they seek employment. Guide them to safe and stable housing, and let Your presence go with them wherever they stay. We pray for their mother’s deliverance from addiction. Break every chain, Lord, and set her free by the power of Your Holy Spirit. Draw her to You and let her experience the joy of salvation.
For their siblings, we ask that You surround them with Your love and protection. Let them see Your light through our brother/sister’s life, and may they come to know You as their Lord and Savior. We also pray for every brother and sister in Christ, near and far, that You would strengthen them, encourage them, and use them for Your glory.
Father, we thank You that our brother/sister is not alone in this battle. You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Help them to trust in You with all their heart and lean not on their own understanding (Proverbs 3:5). Teach them to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17) and to find their strength in You alone.
We declare that the enemy has no hold on them, for they are a child of the Most High God. Greater is He who is in them than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). We speak life, purity, and victory over their mind, body, and spirit. May they walk in the freedom that Christ has purchased for them, and may their life bring glory to Your name.
In Jesus’ mighty name we pray, Amen.
Continue to fight the good fight, dear one. The battle is already won, and God is faithful to complete the work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6). Stay in the Word, stay in prayer, and stay in fellowship with believers who can encourage and support you. You are not defined by your past, but by the future God has prepared for you, a future filled with hope and purpose (Jeremiah 29:11). Keep pressing forward, and do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season you will reap if you do not give up (Galatians 6:9).
