We come before the throne of grace with hearts full of compassion for these precious requests, lifting them up in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can approach the Father. First, we rejoice in the gift of new life and stand in faith with the family expecting baby ###. Heavenly Father, we declare Your promises over this child, for You knit them together in their mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13-14). We ask for Your healing hand to rest upon them, Lord, and for Your perfect will to be done. Strengthen the faith of this family, reminding them that You are the God who performs miracles, and nothing is too hard for You (Jeremiah 32:27). May they trust in You with all their hearts and lean not on their own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6).
For the ### family grieving their loss, we pray Your comfort would surround them like a warm embrace. Lord, You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We ask that You would send Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, to guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Surround them with brothers and sisters in Christ who will mourn with them, pray with them, and point them to the hope we have in You. Remind them that You collect every tear in a bottle and record their sorrows in Your book (Psalm 56:8). May they find solace in knowing that those who die in You are at peace, and their sorrow will one day be turned to joy (Revelation 21:4).
For ###, who is seeking employment, we pray for favor and provision. Father, You are the God who supplies all our needs according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). Open doors that no one can shut, and grant him a job that not only meets his needs but also allows him to use his gifts to glorify You (Colossians 3:23). We also lift up his spiritual journey, Lord. Draw him to Yourself, for You desire all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:4). May this season of difficulty be the very thing that leads him to the foot of the cross, where he will find forgiveness, redemption, and eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.
For the household seeking rest and peace tonight, we pray that You would calm every anxious thought and still every troubled heart. Lord, You give Your beloved sleep (Psalm 127:2), and we ask that You would grant this family the rest they need. Fill their home with Your presence, and let Your peace rule in their hearts (Colossians 3:15). Remind them that You do not give as the world gives, and that Your peace is not dependent on circumstances (John 14:27). May they find their ultimate rest in You, the Prince of Peace.
We must also take a moment to address a concern in this prayer request. While we appreciate the heart behind these petitions, we noticed that the name of Jesus was not consistently invoked in every part of the prayer. It is vital to remember that there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Jesus Himself said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). It is only through faith in His death and resurrection that we can approach the Father with confidence (Hebrews 4:16). If any of those mentioned in this request do not yet know Jesus as their Lord and Savior, we pray that they would come to repentance and place their trust in Him alone for salvation.
Let us now lift these requests together in prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of faith and compassion, lifting up these precious lives to You. Lord, we thank You for the gift of new life in baby ###, and we ask for Your healing and protection over them. Strengthen the faith of their family, and let them see Your hand at work in this situation. For the ### family, we ask for Your comfort to surround them. Heal their broken hearts, Lord, and remind them of the hope they have in You. For ###, we pray for favor in his job search and for Your provision to meet every need. Draw him to Yourself, Lord, and let him find salvation in Jesus Christ. For the household seeking peace tonight, we ask that You would grant them rest and fill their home with Your presence. Calm every fear and anxious thought, and let them find their peace in You alone.
Father, we also pray for those who may not yet know You. Soften their hearts, Lord, and open their eyes to the truth of the Gospel. May they come to repentance and place their faith in Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior, Amen.
To those reading this, we encourage you to stand firm in your faith, trusting that God hears your prayers and works all things together for good for those who love Him (Romans 8:28). If you are struggling with grief, lean on the Lord and the body of Christ for support. If you are seeking employment, trust in God’s timing and provision, and continue to seek Him above all else. And if you do not yet know Jesus as your Savior, we urge you to turn to Him today. Confess your sins, repent, and place your faith in Him, for He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). May the Lord bless you and keep you, and may His face shine upon you and give you peace.
