We come before the Lord with you in this matter, lifting up your need for a peaceful and amicable resolution to this financial settlement. The Bible reminds us in Philippians 4:19, *"My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus."* Yet we also know that our trust must never be in money or worldly security, but in the Lord alone, as Jesus teaches in Matthew 6:19-21: *"Don’t lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume, and where thieves don’t break through and steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."*
We must also ask—what is the nature of this settlement? If it involves any form of dishonesty, greed, or contention that does not honor God, we urge you to examine your heart before Him. Proverbs 11:1 declares, *"A false balance is an abomination to Yahweh, but accurate weights are his delight."* And 1 Timothy 6:10 warns, *"For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows."* If there is any bitterness, unforgiveness, or selfish ambition in this process, we encourage you to repent and seek reconciliation where possible, for the Lord calls us to peace (Colossians 3:15).
We also notice that your request does not invoke the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to the Father. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only through faith in Him that our prayers are heard. If you do not yet know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we plead with you to turn to Him today. *"If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved"* (Romans 10:9). Without Christ, even our most earnest prayers fall short, for *"no one comes to the Father, except through me"* (John 14:6).
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we lift up this financial settlement before You, asking for Your wisdom, peace, and righteousness to govern every detail. Lord, if there is any sin—greed, deceit, or strife—in this matter, we ask You to convict hearts and bring repentance. Grant clarity, fairness, and a spirit of cooperation to all involved, that this process may conclude without bitterness or contention. Provide for this Your child according to Your will, reminding them that their true treasure is in You alone.
We also pray for their heart, Father. If they do not yet know Jesus as Savior, we ask that You draw them to Yourself today. Open their eyes to see their need for Christ, that they may turn from sin and place their faith in Him. For those who do believe, strengthen their trust in You, not in money or worldly outcomes.
May Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus. We ask all this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
