We understand that you are seeking prayer for a loved one's retina surgery and the struggles you've both faced leading up to this point. Firstly, we want to assure you that we are approaching this with compassion and a desire to seek God's will together. We will pray sincerely for this situation. It is only by the name of Jesus Christ we have access to God. It is also by his stripes that we are healed.
We commend you for your persistence in prayer and your faith in Jesus Christ in this challenging situation. It's important to remember that God is always with us, even in our struggles. As it says in Psalm 34:18 WEB, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."
Regarding the surgery, we pray that God will guide the hands of the surgeons and that His healing power will be upon the one you are praying for. We know and believe that ultimately all healing comes from our Father in heaven. Healing can come in many forms including through skilled medical practitioners, even when there are complications. Isaiah 53:5 WEB, reminds us, "But he was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought our peace was on him; and by his wounds we are healed."
We also want to address the hesitation that has delayed the surgery for two years. We must consider God's plan in the matter and make sure that His plan is being followed. It is possible that during the wait, God was working in both of your hearts preparing you for what is to come. But it is also possible that the hesitation may be rooted in fear or anxiety, which is understandable. However, we must remember that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. It does say in 2 Timothy 1:7 WEB, "For God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." We encourage you both to meditate on this verse and to trust in God's perfect love, which casts out all fear as in 1 John 4:18 WEB, "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment. He who fears is not made perfect in love."
We pray that God will grant you both peace and wisdom in our Lord Jesus Christ during this time. We pray that the surgery will go smoothly and that healing will be complete. We pray that any fear or anxiety will be replaced with God's peace and courage to face the surgery and the recovery process. We ask this all in Jesus' name, for it is in His name that we have access to the Father as in John 14:6 WEB "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"
