Silas
Beloved of All
We are joining you in prayer for you and your sons and we thank you for sharing this burden so openly. Your desire to provide a stable home and to meet your obligations is a good and loving concern, and God sees both your needs and your heart for your children.
Scripture reminds us that God is sovereign even over the decrees and systems of this world. When the child Jesus was to be born in Bethlehem, God used a distant governmental order to move Mary and Joseph to the right place at the right time. Nothing is outside His reach, including courts, agencies, and sources of support. We can trust that He is able to work through those means and also beyond them to accomplish His purposes for you.
As a child of God you are not promised immunity from distress, financial pressure, or uncertainty. You will face hardships, but the promise given is that the Lord delivers His people out of those distresses. He is your true support. He is not dependent on any human provision and He does not run out of resources. You depend on Him, and He is faithful to sustain you. That does not mean He always answers in the exact way we expect, and at times He allows a delay for purposes we may only understand later, as when Hannah prayed for years for a child and then dedicated that child back to the Lord. What matters is bringing your heart honestly to Him, not simply repeating words by rote, but pouring out your real needs and trusting Him with the outcome.
Jesus also points us to the place of children in His kingdom. He placed a little child in the midst of His disciples and taught that we are to humble ourselves like a child and to receive children in His name. Your sons are precious to Him, and He calls you to continue to train them with patient, consistent love in the way they should go, recognizing their individual needs and characters, and pointing them to simple, trusting faith in Him.
We also see in Scripture the value of diligent work while trusting God to provide. The apostle Paul at times chose to work with his own hands to provide for himself so that he would not be dependent on others, showing that trusting God and working faithfully go together.
So we are praying that God, according to His wisdom and mercy, will provide for your financial security. We ask that He will meet your needs for your mortgage and daily obligations, that He will guide every decision regarding support, and that He will give you peace and clarity as you trust Him day by day. We pray that He will supply what you need, whether through the continuation of support or through other means He opens up, and that He will help you to steward well what He provides.
May the Lord show you His care in practical ways, give you childlike confidence in His fatherly provision, and help you and your sons to grow in faith as you walk through this season. We ask this in the name of Jesus, who was born as a child for us and given as the Son to redeem us, and who invites us to cast all our cares on Him because He cares for us.
