Prayer request for my precious cat

First of all I would like to thank everyone for paying for my precious cat ###. She has lymphoma on the nose and other underlining issues. I just came from the animal hospital this morning. Been advised that the cancer spread to her lungs and she’ll probably has up to ### months to live.

Heavenly father. Praying that if there’s any way that you can please heal my sweet precious cat ###, remove what doesn’t belong to her in her body in Jesus name I pray.

We join you in thanking God for the gift of your precious cat and for the love you have shown her as a faithful steward of one of His creatures, and we join you in bringing her before the throne of grace together in Jesus' name. Our hearts are saddened to hear of the lymphoma and that it has spread to her lungs, and we grieve with you over this difficult prognosis.

We are reminded in Scripture how much our Father cares for all of His creation. Proverbs 12:10 tells us a righteous man respects the life of his animal, and Psalm 36:6 says you preserve man and animal, Yahweh. Jesus Himself said in Matthew 10:29 are not two sparrows sold for an assarion? Not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father. If He sees and knows each sparrow, how much more does He see your beloved companion and the sorrow you carry now. We also cling to Psalm 34:18 that Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit.

We lift her up to the Lord who holds the life of every living thing in His hand as Job 12:10 declares.

Father in heaven, we come before you together in the name of Jesus Christ your Son, through whom we have access to your mercy and grace. We thank you for the life of this precious cat you entrusted to our dear friend, for the joy and comfort she has given. Lord, you know her body intimately, you know the cancer in her nose and lungs and every underlying issue. We ask if it be your will, that you would touch her and heal her, remove what does not belong in her body, ease any pain or difficulty breathing, and grant her comfort and peace. We ask for wisdom for the veterinarians caring for her and for strength and peace for her owner in the days ahead, whether for miraculous healing or for gentle comfort in the time that remains. Let your will be done and let your presence be felt in this home. We trust your goodness and your sovereignty over all life, and we ask all this in Jesus' name, amen.

We encourage you to continue to steward her well, to cherish each day the Lord gives you together, to keep her comfortable and to seek wise counsel from your veterinarians, while resting in the Father's care. It is right and good that you have prayed in Jesus' name, for John 14:6 reminds us that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through Him, and Acts 4:12 tells us there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. Continue to bring every worry to Him, for He cares for you as 1 Peter 5:7 says, casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. Even in sorrow we know that Romans 8:28 tells us we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, and He will not leave you without comfort. We are praying with you for healing if the Lord wills, and for His peace to guard your heart through whatever lies ahead.

We were so grateful you shared this update with us, even though it brings such painful news. It is clear how deeply you love your sweet cat, and hearing that the lymphoma has spread and time may be short is heartbreaking. It makes sense that you are holding both love and sorrow at once right now.

Many people find the waiting and not knowing the hardest part, when grief starts before goodbye. Please be gentle with yourself in these days. It is okay to feel sadness, tears, or even numbness in waves, and to cherish the ordinary moments you still have together.

One small step that has helped others is to stay close to your veterinary team about comfort. If you have not already, you might ask them what good comfort care can look like for her in the weeks ahead, what signs to watch for, and how to keep her as peaceful and comfortable as possible. Having that plan can ease some of the worry and let you focus on loving her well day by day.

Your heartfelt request concerning your precious cat has been received with much tenderness and sorrow, and we thank you for entrusting it to us for prayer. To love a creature that the Lord has placed in your care and then to hear that lymphoma has spread and that only a short time may remain is a true affliction, and it is right that you should bring this grief before the Lord who hears the cries of His people.

We would speak to you that word which the prophet was commanded to proclaim, Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. When the heart is desponding and the eye is tearful, the Lord does not despise the sorrow, however small the sufferer may seem to others. He who numbers the hairs of our heads and notes the fall of a sparrow is not unmindful of the creatures He has made, and He is most mindful of you who bears His image and for whom Christ died. In such an hour the Word of God becomes our peculiar comfort, for this is our comfort in our affliction, that His Word quickens us. It does not always remove the trial at once, but it quickens the soul to bear it, to trust, and to find nearness to Christ within it.

You ask if the Lord can heal and remove what does not belong in the body of your dear companion. We are reminded that in Christ there is an abundance of healing power, and that even the leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations. The least thing about Christ is healing virtue, and there is enough in Him for every sin sick soul and for every sorrowful need. He who healed the leper with a touch and raised the sick with His word is still full of grace, and we may come boldly and put forth the hand of faith to touch the hem of His garment. Yet we also know that His wisdom is perfect, and His love does not always grant the very thing we ask in the very way we ask it, but He gives what is best and He comforts the heart and establishes it in every good word and work.

Let us pray together for you and for your precious cat.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ our only Saviour, we bring before Your throne of grace this beloved creature and the one who loves her so dearly. You formed all things and You sustain all things, and Your mercies are over all Your works. If it be Your gracious will, we ask You to lay Your healing hand upon this cat, to stay the spread of disease and to remove what does not belong, and to grant relief from suffering. We ask for wisdom for those who provide care, and for Your peace to guard the heart of Your child who watches and waits with aching love. Above all, quicken Your child by Your Word and by Your Spirit, that in this affliction there may be a nearness to Christ, a deeper trust in His goodness, and a comfort that time cannot wear away. Let Your will be done, and let Your comfort abound, for You are our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ Himself is our comfort. Amen.

Be much in prayer, for it is little prayer that brings us low and great prayer that lifts us up again. Seek your comfort not only in the hope of healing, but in the living Word which quickens, and in the Saviour who will not break the bruised reed nor quench the smoking flax. He will keep you and He will not forsake you, and whether He grants a longer season with your companion or calls her hence, He will give grace sufficient for the day. We will continue to remember you both before the Lord, that you may know His comforting presence and His sustaining power.
