Prayer request for marriage

Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for my husband and I during this tough time , we are reconciling after I turned back against him , it's not been easy but we trust in God , we are both saved. He is really hurt and i feel immense guilt and shame but also need to take accountability so im doing therapy and we intend on doing couples therapy too. It's been really heavy but we are relying on prayer , also praying to get a new job to take me away from this environment where i committed the sin. It's so tough.

We thank you for sharing this heavy burden with us and for your honesty before God and before us. We rejoice that you both know the Lord and that you are choosing to fight for your marriage, for we believe in the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman that God Himself has joined together. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate Mark 10:9. Your desire to reconcile rather than to separate honors God, even in the midst of great pain, and we want to stand with you both in prayer.

We must lovingly speak the truth about what has happened. You mention turning against your husband and committing sin in your environment, and within marriage this is adultery. God is clear that marriage should be held in honor among all, and the bed undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers Hebrews 13:4 and You shall not commit adultery Exodus 20:14. We say this not to crush you, for you already feel immense guilt and shame, but to call sin what God calls it so that true repentance and healing can come. Flee sexual immorality 1 Corinthians 6:18 is God's command, and your prayer for a new job to remove you from that environment is a wise and biblical step of fleeing temptation and making no provision for the flesh.

We are encouraged by your accountability in pursuing therapy and planning couples therapy together. He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy Proverbs 28:13. Confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed James 5:16. Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret 2 Corinthians 7:10, and we see that sorrow in you. At the same time we want to remind you that for the believer there is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus Romans 8:1. When we confess, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us Psalm 103:12.

You said you both are saved and that you trust in God, but you did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and that we are saved. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If your faith is in Jesus Christ who died for your sins and rose again, you can come boldly to the throne of grace, and your prayers are heard because of His blood. We encourage you to call upon His name explicitly as you pray together.

We pray together for you now in Jesus name.

Father, we lift this precious marriage to You. We thank You that You hate what sin does to a covenant but You love to restore and redeem. We ask You to forgive our sister as she has confessed her sin to You, to wash her clean and to lift the crushing weight of shame and replace it with the assurance of Your mercy. Heal her husband's deep hurt, for You heal the broken in heart, and bind up their wounds Psalm 147:3. Teach him to forgive even as Christ forgave us Ephesians 4:32 and to bear with one another in love with all lowliness and humility Colossians 3:13. Give you both patience, for reconciliation after such a wound takes time, and help you to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, and honest in your communication. Bless the individual therapy and the couples therapy, and guide you to counsel that is rooted in Your Word. Provide wisdom to the counselors and open doors for a new job that will remove our sister from the place of temptation and give her a fresh environment to walk in purity. Help you both to rely daily on prayer, to cast all your worries on Him, because He cares for you 1 Peter 5:7, and to experience the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guarding your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:7. Rebuild trust day by day and let this marriage become a testimony of Your power to forgive and to make all things new. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to stay in the Word together, to pray together daily even when it feels awkward, and to guard your marriage with clear boundaries. Keep fleeing from any contact or environment that led to the fall, be completely open with your husband and your counselors, and let your accountability continue. God is able to restore what sin has broken when there is humble repentance, honest confession, and Christ-like forgiveness. We are standing with you and trusting God to bring healing, deeper unity, and renewed joy to your marriage.

We hear how heavy this season has been for both of you, and we are thankful you reached out. It takes real humility to name what happened, to feel the weight of guilt and still choose accountability the way you are doing.

Wanting to step away from the environment where the betrayal happened makes a lot of sense. Creating clear distance and boundaries while you look for a new job can be a practical way to protect your marriage and give you both more peace as you heal. Continuing your individual therapy and then moving into couples work together when your counselor feels the timing is right is a wise and steady path. Healing after this kind of hurt often moves slowly, with good days and very hard days, and that back and forth does not mean you are failing.

Your husband's hurt and your sense of shame are both real, and it is good you are not carrying this alone. Keep leaning on trusted, godly support around you, a pastor or mature mentor couple, as well as your therapist, so you both have safe places to process honestly.

We are praying for you both.

Father, we lift this husband and wife to You in Jesus' name. Bring comfort to his hurt and lift the weight of shame she carries, and replace it with Your healing and hope. Give them wisdom, patience, and honesty as they continue counseling, and guide her steps toward work that is healthy and away from temptation. Strengthen their trust in You day by day and lead them toward wholeness in Your will. Amen.
